55Enjoyed our visit to Jen’s 100 acre Sniff Spot. Jen greeted us on arrival, made sure we knew where to go, what to expect. Plenty of room for my pups to run and enjoy themselves. Also, was able to get a 5.5K walk in myself. Will definitely be back.
45Was awesome dogs loved running on the trail. Unfortunately they found the hole in the fence and our one dog had a hard time finding it again to come back through to us. The Dogs did have a lot of fun!
55Great visit! Jen is lovely
55Beautiful day for a walk. Our dog loved it.
55"Great experience! The space was secure, clean, and perfect for an off-leash walk. My dog loved exploring, and the setup was thoughtful.
55What a fantastic spot, the dogs loved it as did I. Jen met us to orientate us to the property as it was our first time there. Will be making this a frequent spot! Thank you!
55The hosts were very welcoming! My dogs had a great time! We will for sure be coming back!
55This place is great! The dogs had a blast! Nice wide, quiet trails along farm fields and hedgerows, plus a big pond for the pups to jump into for a swim! Owners are friendly and property is well maintained for use :) We will be back :)
55We have been using our visits to slowly work up to off leash walks and tonight we had a big success with finally unclipping the long line! This property is awesome. We really enjoy our time here and it has been so great for training. Would recommend.
55Thanks for another great walk!!

Fencing details:

Page wire fencing is along the road and property boundaries. Page wire could allow for a very small dog to go through it. The front gate has a space under it that a small dog could go under. At some points along the barn yard in the first...

We have 3 donkeys that are secured in a paddock that does not have easy access for dogs. They are not always visible. There is a farm gate and page wire fence between the property and the paddock. A small dog could get under the main gate if they were determined. Donkeys like people, but not dogs, so don't allow your dogs to enter the paddock. ** This is for the safety of your dogs.

Sometimes

- People may walk or cycle past when you are close to the road. - Sometimes there may be someone working around the barn and quonset hut, but we will do our best to avoid this. They may have an ATV, truck, weed eater, or lawnmower. - When you are on the walking trail, you should not encounter any people. - Rarely, there will be farming activity (people and machines) on the property beyond the owner's control. If this occurs, and you feel as if you can't walk, we will give you a coupon to visit on another date to visit, at no cost to you. We do our best to communicate with the farmer to avoid such things but it doesn't always work out. - Note that our calendar will be blocked whenever the property is being used for any sort of hunting, so no Sniffspot guests would even be able to book at those times.

Description

Updated November 5 2024 Daily 7:30 A.M. until 5:30 P.M. we offer a partially fenced 100 acre property where your dogs can run free. We have 2 official trails currently, plus 2 groomed 1 acre field play areas. At this time there are also 2 large fields that have been harvested of soy and are perfect for walking and playing. We have chairs in the first field for you to relax. We have a Chuckit available to throw balls for your dogs. Fresh well water in a bucket, for dogs, and bowls, are provided in the first field also. There is a pond at the bottom of the first field to the right. I don't recommend it for humans at all and only for dogs in May, but dogs have been swimming in there all summer and fall and seem to be liking it fine. From there we have a mile long gravel walking trail along fields and forest. It's very straight, and if you stay on the trail, you can't get lost. It is very quiet and peaceful. You can often see deer, wild turkeys and lots of birds, sometimes bald eagles. A walk to the end and back is 2 miles and takes 40 minutes at a moderate pace. Part way back the main trail goes through a shallow marsh. In the spring the frogs singing is quite remarkable! Further along there is a small run-off creek and metal culvert that is suitable for dog swimming in the spring. This is marked with orange (now kinda yellow) pylons so is avoidable if you put your dogs back on a lead as you pass. Just past the culvert, we offer a trail around 2 plowed wheat fields going East. It's along woods and takes about 15 minutes ending back on the main trail. In the second wheat field, there is a trail cam along the edge on the far East side, so be advised. It faces the deer blind on the opposite side of the field. 4 people bow hunt our property, but not very often, and the Spot will be closed when they are hunting. Only bow hunting is allowed, except for one week in December and no one will be allowed to walk the property during that week. I have photos posted to show you where the cameras are. They are totally avoidable! They are up from October through December and if we do capture your image, or your dog's, we will simply delete it. Note that our calendar will be blocked whenever the Spot is being used for any sort of hunting. Just past the entrance to the wheat fields on the main trail, we have several fields that have been harvested and are very flat. They have now been planted with winter wheat. You can go wherever you like on these fields! Just past these fields on the main trail, there is a deer tree stand on the West side. Currently we have a trail camera at the base of this stand so be advised. It faces along the tree line, going north so is easy to avoid. After this you will reach the base of the big hill along the main trail. The main trail ends at the top of this hill. Please stay out of the woods until we've got snow on the ground and you can find your way out. We do use the woods a lot, so there are trails but they aren't always obvious to others. We don't want folks getting lost! Be dressed for gravel on the trail, uneven footing on the wheat field trail, and potential water and mud puddles on the property in wet seasons and after rain. The main trail runs North/South so if you want a sunny walk, go at midday. A shaded walk, go after 3 p.m. Cooler times are before 11 a.m. and after 4 this time of We have a white garbage can for poop but please use biodegradable dog poop bags. ***IMPORTANT: all prices listed are in USD per hour for the first dog, subsequent dogs are $6/hour and guests will be charged in USD*** On your way home, stop at MacKinnon's brewery just down the road for food and drinks. They are dog and family friendly; an all around great place to visit! Hazards

This spot has water features, make sure to review these guidelines for visiting spots with water before visiting: https://help.sniffspot.com/article/167-how-to-keep-your-dog-safe-around-pools-and-water - Three donkeys are safely secured in their fenced paddock (see details above). They are very sweet but will kick and bite dogs if they are chased. Keep your dogs out of the paddock. - Pond and drainage ditch. The pond is very deep and gets weedy in the summer/fall. It is located across from the deer decoy in the first field and is difficult to see in summer. ** Do Not allow people or your dog to go on the ice of this pond in winter. ** - The drainage ditch and metal culvert are part way back on the trail. This is full of water in the spring and is suitable for dogs to swim as it's simply run-off. For those who wish to avoid it, the culvert is marked by caution cones. Make sure to review the previously noted guidelines for visiting Spots with water. - Wildlife. Usually only seen from a distance but could hurt a dog if they managed to get close, which is highly unlikely: deer, wild turkeys, geese, coyotes, raccoons, porcupines. - Coyotes. Very rarely seen during the day, coyotes become bolder at night. Do not walk the property after dark with small dogs as coyotes could attempt to prey on small dogs. - Birds of prey. These are commonly seen flying but could go after very small dogs, if they are far from a person: eagles, hawks and owls. - Deer ticks. These are mainly in the woods and long grass. Use regular doggy precautions for ticks. Although less active in winter, they will appear on warm winter days. People should spray their shoes and legs with deet repellent. If you are very concerned about deer ticks, avoid the woods altogether and stay on the main trail where the grass is short. - Plants. Poison oak and ivy are in the woods mainly. Wild Parsnip in the fields. Familiarize yourself with these plants. If you crush Wild Parsnip, the juice will cause painful blisters on your skin. I've never seen it bother dogs. Walking or brushing by it does no harm. https://www.ontario.ca/page/wild-parsnip -Mushrooms. The woods are full of many varieties of mushrooms and fungi year round. Let's assume they are all toxic so be mindful to not allow your dogs or people to eat these. - Larger gravel on the path could turn an ankle so be observant and wear good shoes. - Uneven ground in the woods, around the soybean field and on the shady walk could turn an ankle; wear good shoes. - Biting flies. Carry a small towel to shoo them off. Wear hats and repellent during spring and summer. - Old fencing. We have removed all hazardous fencing that we have found. This is to avoid tripping and entanglement of people and animals. However, we cannot guarantee that we have found it all, especially on the edges of our property in the woods. Please be diligent and mindful of where you walk. Try to stay on established trails to avoid this potential problem. - Wind. If it is very windy, we do not recommend using the Spot due to the chance of falling branches. ** Stay out of the woods on windy days ** Here is the Weather Network link to our area: https://www.theweathernetwork.com/en/city/ca/ontario/millers-corner/current -Note that in Ontario October, November and December is deer hunting season so it is advised to always wear bright colours, wherever you walk!
