We need to keep coyotes out and goats and sheep safe, so we have a very secure perimeter fence surrounding 24 total acres. Some of the interior cross fencing is lower and these areas are available for use if appropriate for your dog.

Description

Tons of space for active dogs to run and play at this working ranch located just southeast of Austin (10 miles from Southpark Meadows). Recommended stay at least one full hour to explore fully. The ranch has multiple fenced areas that can be used (smaller areas if your dog isn't trained to come can be arranged). Otherwise, enjoy the huge 5+ acre playground featuring stock tank pond, picnic table, some shade. Refreshments available upon request for a small donation.

HOST NOTE

Note on water level and algae: seasonally, the algae "blooms" and recently we have not seen enough rain to keep the tanks pretty and full. No algae is "good" for animals, so please keep this in mind if you visit during seasons when there is a bloom. All of my livestock use the stock tank ponds as a water source year round, but want dog visitors to be aware. Coffee, Tea, or hot chocolate1 credit

If the weather is crappy or if you want to do a morning outing and would like your morning coffee, we make THE BEST coffee (it's a little strong). Or to order. Just please let us know ahead of time especially if you need a particular additive to your coffee. We always have all 4 kinds of sweeteners but cream or creamer is special order. Teas: we have a large selection of herbal and other teas. Same additives as above for coffee.

Cold Beverages1 credit

We have a refrigerator stocked with cold sodas, seltzer waters, water, juices and miscellaneous choices. Examples currently available are Pepsi, Dr. Pepper Zero, Zevia sodas, Green sodas (stevia sweetened), variety of unsweetened flavored Seltzers, regular bottled water, Body Armour or BA Lyte. Please choose this option for one can/bottle of any of our choices. If you would like more than one, feel free to make a donation in person.

We have a "shower" area for your pup with hot and cold water and an adjustable nozzle. Dog shampoo is available; towels are not included, drip dry seasonal use is recommended or BYOT (bring your own towel).

Giant Splash Pad10 credits

Due to our pond's waning water, we added a Splash Pad as an alternative! This sprinkler pad is now available and ready to make many dogs (and humans) happy and cooler after running around.

Livestock interaction1 credit

We have people and dog friendly livestock including: dog-tolerant goats, seasonally lambs or goat kids, a gentle arabian horse diagnosed with cancer rescued to spend her days here, or a playmate dog (2 personalities to choose from).

Snacks (human)1 credit

We always have salty and sweet snacks available. Examples include (some or all may be available on any given day): Single serving "Frito Lay" brand chips, Single-serve nut packs, Cookie or brownie treats, Granola type bars, 100% fruit leather snacks (yummy and lo-cal), Fresh fruit seasonally (inquire prior to ordering for current selection available).

Sprinkler Fun5 credits

If your dog enjoys sprinklers, this is a great option. We now have two different sprinklers to choose from. You can turn it "on" for up to 30 minutes of fun play time!

I can sometimes accommodate last minute and longer bookings, so please don't be deterred by the 24-hr notice or time limit. Also, more dogs are welcome on a case-by case basis (for example, for pre-arranged doggy birthday parties).

Our place is a beautiful animal-oriented property. It is technically a working ranch with cows, sheep, goats, chickens and horses (many cross fenced areas so livestock can be separated from dogs or not). Ideally suited for doggie fun, we have a combination of open space and "wooded" areas and there's a great pond for dogs to cool off and play. We have plans to add agility obstacles in the near future. For a great overnight getaway, we also have a guest house that can be rented. Best of all, we are located 30 minutes from Austin and San Marcos.

Notes: -Neighboring lot is now sometimes under construction with 2 - 3 people -Mosquitos can be bad in summer -Grass burs are bad at the beginning of summer, dogs and humans will want to check shoes/fur upon leaving and avoid taller grass spots.
