55Today was our first visit and we had a fantastic time. We were greeted by the host which was appreciated as first time guests. The drive to the property was beautiful, and it was very easy to find. There’s a large parking area to the right as you near the house by the wood shed. The combination of private property and state land made the exploring opportunities feel endless. I made mental notes of many other areas we will adventure into next time. There was fresh water set out for my dogs which was great since we went through what I brought pretty quickly. There is a large area around the property that is mowed if you don’t want to walk in taller grasses. The wild areas do have plants with little burs (which is to be expected) if you don’t mind having to brush those out later, as I do not. There are narrow paths used by animals which is excellent for sniffing. We saw many signs of deer, coyotes, and owls. Wonderful! And the birds we heard and saw today were: Say’s Phoebe, Pygmy Nuthatch, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Mountain Chickadee, Cooper’s Hawk, Mourning Dove, California Quail, American Goldfinch, Chipping Sparrow, Raven, and Black-billed Magpie. My very energetic Aussies are tired out and happy, so it was a perfectly successful trip and a wonderful addition to our morning walk routine.
55Great spot with lots of room to roam. National forest to explore….areas around the house to wander and throw a ball. Robyn was wonderful in communicating. Yes, it’s off the beaten path but well worth it!!
15I think I found the right address, but there was no sign anywhere that indicated the property was a sniff spot. I just wasn’t sure if it was the right place due to no photos nor signage and felt it best to leave. No phone signal, so had to drive back down the hills to message host. Did not get a response so after hanging at a park for about an hour, headed home.

Description

Our SniffSpot is located in the woods north of Chelan. You and your pup can roam our property as well as Wenatchee National Forest and DNR land. We regularly see deer, coyote, and other wildlife. Our property is not fenced, so you'll need good recall and perhaps some treats. While I am sure there could be rattlesnakes here, we have not seen one in the 9 years we have been on this property. When we had dogs, they roamed freely and without incident.

Additional rules

While we are located in the woods, dog feces encourages mice and other undesirable wildlife to linger. We ask that you pick up poop and deposit it in the bucket provided should your dogs poop on the road or within 50 fewt of the house. This helps keep the woods clean for others to enjoy and no one steps in poop! If you have wandered into the woods, please feel free to leave it. Don't worry, there is still plenty to sniff!

I've had dogs for more than 20 years and loved them for even longer. We are currently without one for the first time in decades. We are doing a little fostering and opening up our space for you and your dog to play is a way to fill the dog shaped hole in our lives!
