45This is a nice secluded little spot, so much so that we had a hard time finding the driveway! It’s pleasantly not bordered by neighbors. The terrain is grassy and uneven, making it interesting to explore. The yard was clean and well labeled. The fenced area attaches to the back patio of the host’s downstairs (I’ll touch more on this later). There are a few big trees and a stump to explore and my dog’s favorite, the boulders!! The host had a box of toys set out and Lani instantly found the squeaky one. She had a blast climbing the boulders then dropping the ball so she could chase it as it bounced down. It was humorous to watch!! We had two incidences worth mentioning, especially if you’re a Sniffspot user with a reactive/sensitive dog. The first was minor and came from good intention. The host and I talked about eventually introducing our dogs, even talked about protocol. I was caught off guard when she brought her leashed puppy through the front door (not attached to the fenced area). Both dogs were too overexcited and the host soon realized it wasn’t going to work. She brought her puppy back inside, which lead to the second thing- The host’s dogs broke the barrier to the downstairs area, connected to the patio mentioned above. My dog and hers “greeted” head on, through the glass, which never has a good outcome. All dogs displayed barrier frustration and were overwhelmed, as we tried to pull them away from the glass. The host was engaged, responsive, and apologetic. She quickly removed her dogs from that space and assured me they would be kenneled the rest of our visit. Mistakes happen, for sure. We were able to enjoy the remainder of our visit, but that could have been a major setback for a more sensitive/reactive dog. Something to consider.
55This is a great sniff spot! There are two parts: a fully fenced part and an unfenced part. Soba and toshii and I spent our time in the fenced part. The space is not huge but soba and toshii didn’t stop sniffing and exploring for the full hour. The spot is like a wooded yard up on a hill with rocks and trees and ruts to explore. It is very quiet and peaceful. The host was very kind to put out signs for the sniff spot and toys. The host even gave us a gift for being her first guests! The fencing is 3-4 feet high and wire, seemed secure but a determined dog may be able to jump it. We could faintly hear a dog inside the house but soba and toshii paid the dog no attention. Thanks for sharing!
55Nice yard for my puppy to run free and play in. The hosts were very kind and it is nice they set out water and toys to play with. We will definitely be back!

I think it’s a great idea to have an area where dogs can play and run. I happened to be a dog lover myself and really enjoy the fact that I know that my dogs have lots of area to run and play. In addition, exercise is a very important part of a dog’s health and well-being

Hello and welcome to our Sniffspot! We hope you enjoy your time here. Just a reminder to please pick up the toys and water bowls that you use when here and place them in the 'used/dirty bin'. This ensures a clean space for the pups that visit after you. Thanks! It's a large, open one acre pasture with plenty of room to run and play. Tall fir trees, our home and other single family homes surround the property. There are neighbors who walk their dogs or play with their dogs in their yards. There are no shared fence-lines but we are noting this in case your dog might be reactive or sensitive to seeing and hearing other dogs and people. There are also chickens nearby - see note below. Double gated entrance for security. Park along the fence on the gravel drive. Plenty of room for your pup to enjoy the zoomies! A few things below to note, thank you! *🎾💦 For the toys and water bowls, we have labeled bins for 'clean' and 'dirty/used'. Please utilize items from the clean containers and then place in used/dirty so we can thoroughly clean them. There are cleaning materials in case you would like to sanitize or self-clean bowls or toys. Thank you! * 🥾The terrain of the pasture does have some dips, bunny holes and there is a section of mown grass, as well as a portion of longer pasture grass, and sticks from the fir trees. Wearing solid and/or waterproof shoes will help you navigate the land. *💦 There is a water jug and spigot with hose in the pasture to use for drinking water. If you use the spigot, please be sure to turn it off. There are small plastic pools available for warm days. You are welcome to use a pool, but please empty it after use and return it to the fenceline area. *💡we have 4 sets of string lights on our fence, two small solar spotlights on the fence, and one large spotlight on the far power pole (motion sensor). It adds some brightness to the pasture for evening visitors. Note that since it is an acre lot, there is a portion of the pasture that is still quite dark once the sun is fully set. *🐓 There are two hens and one rooster on a neighboring fence line and the gate to their henhouse yard has a sign (don't let the chickens out, no matter what they say), as well as a secure gate latch plus bungee cord. They will stay on the far side of their yard, and hide under the shrub/tree cover so are usually not be visible from the Sniffspot pasture, but wanted to share in case this is bothersome to some pup guests. Our rooster, as well as neighborhood roosters, are regularly heard. *please note: due to the burn ban, wildland fires and the dryness of our land, we ask for no smoking on the property at this time, thank you
