55Our three dogs loved the very well marked and maintained trails! They loved playing in the water, running in the field and sniffing through the forest. It was also nice not having to worry about other dogs while also working on recall. They all fell asleep on the car ride home. Will definitely be back again and likely book more time next time. Thank you again for having us!!
55Griffin and I LOVED this sniffspot! Easy to find via google maps. Trails well marked, impossible to get lost! Totally peaceful for my reactive dog and I with no other dogs around to worry about! Fresh air, clear trails...they really have a piece of heaven. We WILL be back to get to the river!! :D Will leave pics from my new sunglalsses! A+++
55The trail was perfect for biking with the dogs this morning!
55The new trail to the river is amazing! The dogs and I love having easy access to the water, especially in this heat. Thank you!
55We had a great experience at the Sugar Bush! The driveway and parking are clearly marked. Since it was our first time visiting, Cathy met us when we arrived. She provided us with a clear map of the trails and suggested some routes. The trails were beautiful, private and well-treed. They open up to two great swimming spots, both had gradual/shallow slopes into the water (great for our dog, who is not the most agile!), and a bench for us to sit. Our dog had a great time, as did we!
55Their fave place
45Had a really great time! Beautiful walking trails and having the river right there is awesome for the dogs to cool down in during a hot day! Will definitely be back.
55Great trails! Hosts were lovely and gave us the map & directions! Highly recommend checking it out but don’t forget the bug spray!
55Everything is so lush right now! The dogs had a blast running through the forest and jumping into the river.
55Great space for dogs to sniff, run and swim. We’ll be back!

Description

***IMPORTANT: all prices listed are in US dollars and guests will be charged in US dollars*** Base rate of $10 is for 2 adults and 1 puppy for one hour. Additional adults and puppies are $5 each. Children free. :) Hello and welcome to our piece of paradise! Our property (45 acres) offers numerous walking trails and open spaces to romp and play. Your dog can enjoy an off-leash experience and a great opportunity to explore and be dogs! So many new smells they will be exhausted before you know it. Open field for you to play fetch or train. 100% totally private. No other dogs or humans during your time slot. We have approx 3 km of nature trails that weave their way through our 45 acre property. In summer and fall the trails are cleared of any debris, but are hiking trails and appropriate footwear is recommended. In winter, trails are packed and groomed. Many of our trails are suitable for “Dog Powered Sports”, including canicross, bikejoring, skijoring, dog sledding, and kicksleding. There is a river that runs through the property and during the summer this is a great place for your pet to take a dip and cool off. Two spots have been cleared for entrance into the water and bench for you to sit on, check the map for locations. There's also a one acre field at the top of the property for training or playing catch, east of the north limit. Various wildlife has been spotted on the property which provides excellent sniff opportunities for your pet. Located in Northern Ontario, expect mosquitoes in spring, summer, and fall - dress accordingly and wear bug repellent if you so choose. If you have excellent recall your puppies can go off-leash. We ask that you wait until you are on the trails to release them. A recommend route is on the map and starts with heading north on the Orchard Trail, west on the North Limit, south on the Back 40, which then takes you down into the sugar bush. You can either cut cross west on Yoko's trail or continue on Maple's Way where there are several trails that branch off of it. Taking Mia's Loop will takes you east towards the road and loop back to the Sugar Bush Trail where you can cross over and head west to Chloe's loop or down to the river. Signs are posted at the beginning and end of each trail to help you navigate. Enjoy this time how you see fit and take nature in the best way possible. Please park to the right hand side of the barn. A map of the trails has been included in the pictures feel free to download or print. Copies are also available in the mail box by solar panels. Happy to get your feedback on the trails and your experience.

Hazards

The river that runs through the property has a strong current and in winter there are areas that don't freeze over. Keep your pet off the river. For summer swimming, dogs must be strong swimmers in order to manage the current. There is no fence, therefore as pet owners you need to be able to recall your pet, or use a leash for their safety. The trails are through the bush so the ground is uneven with stumps and tree roots, and there's potential for falling branches. During winter the trails are packed and depending on weather conditions may have ice patches underneath. Wildlife has been spotted on the property including bears, moose, deer, fox, and rabbits. Living in Northern Ontario expect mosquitos - dress accordingly and wear bug repellent if you so choose. This spot has a water feature, make sure to review these guidelines for visiting spots with water before visiting: https://help.sniffspot.com/article/167-how-to-keep-your-dog-safe-around-pools-and-water
