55A gorgeous spot! We enjoyed watching the horses down the way and appreciated all the provided toys!
55We had a great time at Pibble Hill! I don't have a fenced yard, so it was lovely to give my dog off-leash time in such a large, open space with lots to sniff. The yard was clean with fresh water and toys. We'll be back!
55We had a great time! Everything was exactly as advertised.
45Fresh dog pooh left on property,(not ours) second time it has happened??
55Beautiful spot, well maintained. Repeat visitors.
55This is the best maintained, most well thought out Sniff Spot we’ve ever visited. My dog usually lasts no more than fifteen minutes, less in summer heat. She played and went in the wading water and played some more for forty minutes! Aubie was not only safe and comfortable, she and we genuinely enjoyed the time and space. And now she is asleep!
55Milo had an amazing time at Pibble Hill - got lots of exercise and sniffs in! It was well shaded with great chairs to hang out in. We’ll definitely be back!
55Our pup loved the built/natural obstacles as well as the mixed terrain with lots of places to sniff and explore. Plenty of all-out running space as well. Comfortable shade/sitting options for humans although we spent all of our time exploring alongside our pup.
55Amazing space with plenty of enrichment! We enjoyed using the pool, the obstacle course and all the toys in the bin :)) Our pups can’t wait to come back.
55My dog really enjoyed herself exploring other dog smells in the field. It's in a beautiful scenic area too!

i keep my dogs in the house while people visit but the neighbors have dogs and you can sometimes hear barking at a distance. you should not be able to see other dogs from this sniff spot.

i have two horses and two goats - they may be in the adjoining pasture or across the road. you may also see my chickens or cats at a great distance. there is at least one empty pasture between the sniff spot and my animals, so your dog would have to jump two fences to have access to them.

i have older, quiet neighbors on the right side of the driveway. sometimes they’ll drive by and you might see them or a visitor get out of the car, but they never go in or near the field. I live in the country. I have some neighbors down the road who sometimes target shoot on the weekends. It doesn't usually go on for long and they're not super close, but if the noise ever scares your dog I'll give you a refund.

Description

WE ARE OPEN post-Helene! The creek road is closed, but you can get to my farm through Mars Hill. I've added a couple loads of dirt to the fire pit area, which your dogs are welcome to run and dig in until I get it spread out. The top pasture of this small farm is available for dogs to sniff and exercise. Sometimes there will be farm animal smells, horses and goats, and turkeys, rabbits and deer may also visit. There is a nice hill to tire everyone out, and a pretty view of my little farm. If you sit at the top and throw balls down the hill your dogs will get very tired! There is a picnic table, a swing, a table and chairs, a fire pit chairs, a splashing trough, a dog toy box, and a hose. You can pull right in through the double red gates and close them behind you, to leave my neighbors room to drive past. This will also ensure your dogs don't escape from the sniff spot when you open the car doors. There is a large horse water trough, feel free to dump it and refill it if you need to (and if you're strong enough!) There's also a large box of dog toys, if your dog tears one up you can throw the pieces in the trash, they're all disposable.

Cleanliness

98% of guests said this spot was as clean as expected during their visit.

Hazards

There may be wildlife poop and I occasionally let my horses and goats graze there (not in winter). There are usually some sticks lying around that have blown down from the trees.

Additional rules

Please pick up poop (bags and can provided). You're welcome to use the dog toys, whether they're in the toy box or scattered around the hill. Please stick to your designated arrival and departure times so I can have my animals and dog training clients out of the way. You are welcome to drive into the spot and park there before you close the gate. (It’s safer and you don’t have to worry about blocking the neighbor’s driveway) This year we have a working water spigot and hose as well as a livestock tank for splashing. There is also an electrical outlet on the pole if you need to charge your phone. There is a brand new fire pit, but you'll likely need to bring your own firewood.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL OF BEARS! I have had a bear in the back yard a few times recently. They jump fences! If you need a better idea of where it is, it's within walking distance of the East Asheville Farmer's Market, Library, Fire Department, and Wells Fargo. I'm also close to Bull Mountain Rd. A few Announcements: While I make every effort to ensure that my roommate and other guests have cleaned up after their dogs, I have occasionally been informed that they have not. So I must now update the description accordingly. I welcome you to partake of my beautiful backyard in a peaceful neighborhood- as long as you are aware it is possible there is occasional dog poo. Also be advised that if you are extremely sensitive to poison ivy, be aware there may be some in some parts of the yard. If your dog is a curious sort, be aware that there is some yard equipment being stored under the deck and this area is open and not blocked off. I cannot anticipate every guest's need, but I am happy to offer my yard for a small fee to those who understand what is being offered. Thank you! Also, if you should happen to encounter my neighbor in the back left of the yard, please be advised he is unfortunately a little senile and has been known to be a nuissance to several of his neighbors. I don't want to scare you off, as we love our yard and will continue using our yard in the ways we see fit. If his (small) dogs come out while you are there, please be careful with your dogs, and please take anything he says with a grain of salt-, he unfortunately sometimes behaves like your classic grumpy old man. We apologize in advance for anything he says and are working on a solution. It may take some time for that to be implemented. Recommendations: 1) Please clean up after your dog. 2) If you book an evening time, be prepared with a flashlight, or know when the sun sets. I have outside lights, but I can't guarantee they will always be on, and they don't illuminate the whole yard. The space: A wide open space with rolling hills for your dogs to play, while you enjoy the view. *The sprinkler is actually a garden hose that is a "soaker" hose. It sprays water out of it like a sprinkler. There are plenty of sticks you can throw for the dog to fetch. (The location is 5 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 5 minutes to Downtown Asheville, and close to the Folk Art Center. The newly renovated Haw Creek library and playground, Creekside Tavern, and High Five Coffee are just down the street. You can also walk to the Haw Creek Farmer's Market from here on Fridays, 3-6 pm. You can walk straight from to the Mountain to Sea trail from here without having to drive, and hike to Lunchbox rock (seen in pictures here.) I included the porch pictures so you could see the sunset. :) ) There is hand sanitizer, sunblock and bug spray under the stairs, under the side of the bottom step that you are welcome to use.i
