55Nice private space! Will book again
55Nice fenced yard with chairs. Clear instructions from host.
55Great spot the girls loved it! Lots of room to run and play.
55Excellent as always! Still my greyhound and I's favorite spot in the greater Lansing area.
55Great open space for Daisy to run and explore with areas of shade for her to relax in as well. Private and peaceful. We’ll be back. 😊
55This was our first time trying a Sniff Spot and our dogs loved it. Secure fence, no other dogs or people around which was perfect for our somewhat reactive GSD, well maintained yard, and clear instructions. Highly recommend and will definitely come back!
55Host was very easy to wo4rk with and the spot was well maintained and well fenced. Our dog had a blast and we will for sure book again
55This sniffspot was wonderful and clean! Our dogs had a blast running around. We did not check out the trails but those looked great too. Fencing was secure all around.
55Great space for a pup who loves to run. Safe area. My pup ran so much she only lasted twenty minutes but it was worth every penny! Strongly recommend this spot but do recommend bug spray.
45Very nice spot. It is a decent-sized fenced yard with unfenced hiking trails, to be clear. But the yard is great!

No dogs currently! Originally, this yard belonged to our Australian Shepherd/Dattle Dog mix, Numi, who died at 11yo in Nov 2022. She was reactive/fear aggressive toward strangers. The yard is set up to limit visibility of or access to possible triggers, including other dogs and pedestrians.

No outdoor domestic animals. (We have 2 doves who live indoors, but they shouldn't be an issue! You might be able to see them in their cage through the sunroom window, but dogs don't usually notice them.) Farm animals (horses, goats, donkey) across the street, but please enjoy them from our side of the road!

This is a rural area and there is little to no foot traffic on our road, which has no sidewalks. This is our home and I work from home. But we will stay out of your way unless otherwise arranged. As the former owners of a reactive dog, we understand the importance of this! The property was set up for our reactive /aggressive Australian Shepherd/Cattle Dog who died in Nov 2022 - to limit visibility of possible triggers and prevent surprises, including from other dogs or pedestrians. Her vet behaviorist called it the "Numi Dream House" :) We have been running the Sniffspot since shortly after she died as a way of keeping her yard alive and the joy of dogs around us, and as an act of service for other DINOS (Dogs in Need of Space) and their owners, in her memory. Occasionally we will need to use the front door to the house during a booking, but we try our best to avoid it- and this is not visible from the fenced yard.

Description

1 acre fully fenced yard + 7 acres of private hiking trails in rural Williamston. Former stomping grounds of a fear-reactive herding dog. Please leash your dogs on the trails.

Cleanliness

100% of guests said this spot was as clean as expected during their visit.

Hazards

Our road and neighboring roads are fast rural roads - 50 MPH - and the wooded part of the property is not fenced. In summer (full property): - You will want to wear or bring bug spray. In order to keep our Sniffspot chemical free, we do not spray for insects. Fenced area: - Dogs of all sizes are welcome here! But be aware that yard is designed for large dogs in need of space to run. If you have small breeds and/or talented escape artists, be mindful of potential holes under the fence, esp in the area behind and around the shed. We have a persistent resident groundhog who makes their home under the shed. Dogs are often attracted to his scent and like to investigate around the shed. Great enrichment! But, in spring/summer, the groundhog sometimes tunnels under the fence. We try to keep an eye on holes and fill them as they arise, but please keep an eye out. - Avoid touching the vegetation that grows up the fence - some is poison ivy. Trails: - We ask that you keep your dog(s) LEASHED on the trails. Dogs unleashed on the trails may be lured into chasing deer or rabbits off the property. - For humans, we recommend long pants on the trails to protect against poison ivy in spring/summer (we try to keep it off the trails, but it grows fast, esp in shady areas) and the (very) occasional tick.

Extras

Use of private trails$10

Beyond the fenced yard, we have an additional 1 mile of private hiking trails. Please keep dogs leashed on trails. To access, use small gate to the left of the garden shed. Latch gate behind you.

Lindy's Fully High-Fenced Yard For Dogs and seating area

Hey everyone! My name is Lindy and I was a dog mom of 2 beautiful Angels that are now together forever, they passed 2 years apart and with this most recent loss of my Great Dane I like a good reason to keep up with our yard for a dog still. They had lots of fun and exercises and sunbathing back here and they would hate for it to go to waste! I live in a quiet safe neighborhood that misses the barking in my back yard, high privacy fence to deter jumping and great for throwing balls! Separate Private entrance through the garage of house. A small pool for dogs filled upon request, Sun Deck with chairs and table for lunch, Sun Bathing, etc. Fire pit ok to use! Working on getting it well lit for night visits which are also encouraged because my neighbors are great and don't mind:) Check out our Spot! Thanks:) Also featuring some fun equipment for the ole' Bone Yard! 🦴🐕‍🦺🐾🤸‍♀️ ~(((Agility equipment can help dogs in many ways, including: CONFIDENCE! -Dogs are rewarded at each step they complete, which can help build their confidence. This confidence can carry over into other areas. 💎✨💃🕺 FITNESS! -Agility training is a great way to exercise dogs, which can help them burn off excess energy, prevent obesity, and increase their endurance. 💪🏋️‍♀️ MENTAL STIMULATION! -Agility training teaches dogs to navigate obstacles, which provides mental stimulation. 🧠📚 SOCIALIZATION! -Agility training provides opportunities for dogs to socialize with other dogs and people. 💑🤸‍♀️ COMMUNICATION! -Agility training requires verbal and physical communication between the dog and their owner, which can help improve their communication. 🗣️📣 DISCIPLINE! -Agility training tests a dog's obedience, speed, and dexterity, and promotes discipline. 🖐️🚫🚦)))~ Also included in the benefits by your honored Host: Brain Power and Keen Rescue Abilities!! Timmy fell in the brush pile?! No worries because his dog Tank knows how to quickly navigate through problems areas! He went to Lindy's bone yard and boot camp and learned some SKILLZ 🛟⛑️ 😄🥰🐾
