55 perfect spot for my german shepherd!! She is now snoring (loudly) after our visit, it’s nice to have her so tired out! The spot was also super easy to find :)
55The spot was lovely and private. My dog had a great time!
55Didn’t end up getting to go, but good communication ahead of time slot
55Great spot for a quick dog run.
55great spot!
55Had a great time !
55We had a great time
55Beautiful area to explore!
45The spot was so nice we got to adventure in the woods and trails. A lot of off trail walking as trails stop quite fast in the forest ! It took us a while to find the pond but it is at the first trail to the right when you park. We have to keep going even after the maintained trail stops :)
55Rented for my dogs birthday and had a picnic, followed by a lovely walk through the woods! Host was very kind and accommodating with the snow, offering a parking spot closer to the house! Figaro had the best time running around and I felt very confident having him off leash there and wasn’t concerned about him running off at all, totally recommend and definitely coming back!

Description

****IMPORTANT: All prices listed are in USD and guests will be charged in USD. However, Hosts are only paid out in CAD.*** Yes, you read that correctly, price is 0.10 an hour until Canadian customers are charged in Canadian dollars. We are offering the back 9 acres of our property in rural Ontario, off the scenic Thousand Islands Parkway as a private escape for your special dog. There is a large area (1+ acre) of cut grass and some trails through the woods to explore and smell. It is exclusive, and only the people and dogs in your booking are allowed in the park during your visit. Ideal for sensitive or reactive dogs. *Some areas of the woods have "valuable items" left behind by the previous owner. We are in the process of cleaning it up but quite a bit is still remaining. If you see anything you want, let me know, no reasonable offer refused.

Cleanliness

93% of guests said this spot was as clean as expected during their visit.

Hazards

I frequently see wildlife on the property, including deer, turkeys, and rabbits. There is a pond and a creek on the property. The edges of the pond are very soft and you can sink quite deeply into the mud. The previous owner was a hoarder and kept many "valuable items" in the woods. I am slowly cleaning these items up but some areas have a lot of junk. If you see anything you'd like, please make an offer, no reasonable offer will be refused.

Updated December 17 2024 Daily 7:30 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. we offer a partially fenced 100 acre property where your dogs can run free. We have 2 official trails currently, plus 2 groomed 1 acre field play areas. At this time there are also 2 large fields that have been harvested of soy and are perfect for walking and playing. We have chairs in the first field for you to relax. We have a Chuckit available to throw balls for your dogs. Fresh well water in a bucket, for dogs, and bowls, are provided in the first field also. There is a pond at the bottom of the first field to the right. I don't recommend it for humans at all and only for dogs in May, but dogs have been swimming in there all summer and fall and seem to be liking it fine. In winter, the pond poses a danger. Please don't allow people or dogs to go on to the ice. There will be a warning sign in winter. From there we have a mile long gravel walking trail along fields and forest. It's very straight, and if you stay on the trail, you can't get lost. It is very quiet and peaceful. You can often see deer, wild turkeys and lots of birds, sometimes bald eagles. A walk to the end and back is 2 miles and takes 40 minutes at a moderate pace. Part way back the main trail goes through a shallow marsh. In the spring the frogs singing is quite remarkable! Further along there is a small run-off creek and metal culvert that is suitable for dog swimming in the spring. This is marked with orange (now kinda yellow) pylons so is avoidable if you put your dogs back on a lead as you pass. Just past the culvert, we offer a trail around 2 plowed wheat fields going East. It's along woods and takes about 15 minutes ending back on the main trail. In the second wheat field, there is a trail cam along the edge on the far East side, so be advised. It faces the deer blind on the opposite side of the field. 4 people bow hunt our property, but not very often, and the Spot will be closed when they are hunting. Only bow hunting is allowed, except for one week in December and no one will be allowed to walk the property during that week. I have photos posted to show you where the cameras are. They are totally avoidable! They are up from October through December and if we do capture your image, or your dog's, we will simply delete it. Note that our calendar will be blocked whenever the Spot is being used for any sort of hunting. Just past the entrance to the wheat fields on the main trail, we have several fields that have been harvested and are very flat. They have now been planted with winter wheat. You can go wherever you like on these fields! Just past these fields on the main trail, there is a deer tree stand on the West side. Currently we have a trail camera at the base of this stand so be advised. It faces along the tree line, going north so is easy to avoid. After this you will reach the base of the big hill along the main trail. The main trail ends at the top of this hill. Please stay out of the woods until we've got snow on the ground and you can find your way out. We do use the woods a lot, so there are trails but they aren't always obvious to others. We don't want folks getting lost! Be dressed for gravel on the trail, uneven footing on the wheat field trail, and potential water and mud puddles on the property in wet seasons and after rain. ** The mains trail can be icy in spots in winter so wear appropriate boots. The main trail runs North/South so if you want a sunny walk, go at midday. A shaded walk, go after 3 p.m. We have a white garbage can for poop but please use biodegradable dog poop bags. ***IMPORTANT: all prices listed are in USD, $12 per hour for the first dog, subsequent dogs are $6/hour and guests will be charged in USD*** Currently, a subscription to Sniffpass is required for new users making bookings via the mobile app. However, bookings can be made on the website without needing a subscription by skipping the Sniffpass prompt. On your way home, stop at MacKinnon's brewery just down the road for food and drinks. They are dog and family friendly; an all around great place to visit!
