55Additional review to my previous message as I had mentioned I spotted 2 small gaps that my little terriers would have squeezed themselves through if on hot pursuit of a critter, was rectified by the kindest of all hosts, Caren and her husband! They went out of their way to make sure my pups were safe to have fun, not to mention my emotional state! I can't thank these wonderful people enough!!
55We had a wonderful visit to Caren’s property. She is a lovely host and provided everything our dogs could need for a fun time. We will definitely be back. This is a great location for any reactive dog that can’t go to group settings but still needs the chance to run and play freely. Definitely recommend. 🌟
55Thank you for always caring about your guests Caren! We have visited different sniff spots, and not joking this is our number one place to go and have a good time with our not so very friendly Malinois 😅🥲🐕🫶!
55Today I brought my Norman, a 20lb Border Terrier whom can be very reactive to other dogs and has a very high prey drive! Thanks to Palmhill Sniffspot Norman was allowed off leash and just be a dog! He had so much fun and so did I! He played with balls and toys, I'm sure he would have emptied the entire container if he could. There was fresh water for him and the fog kept it super cool. While there are no gaps in the fencing I did spot 2 places that a little dog going after a critter could squeeze through with chase motivation. That being said I wasn't concerned, Norman was more than occupied on me and his ball. Thank you so much Caren for providing this safe spot for my dogs 😊🩷
55Such a great spot for the pups to run and play!
55Amazing! Will come again!!
55This is a great open spot to let your dogs just explore or if you need some wide open space for play. Balls and ball throwers on site plus a nice shaded portico and a tub if they need to really cool off. It’s a hard-pack pasture like space so definitely be mindful of the heat - it’s got quite a heat dome on it. Lots of gopher/burrowing animal holes so be mindful of your feet! Caren is your lovely host and cares deeply about animals - you will be well taken care. Totally worth it!!! P.S. leave no trace! Cleaning up after yourself/dogs is not only good manners but ensures this type of service remains available for your future use and everyone else 😃
55Lovely wide open area, mowed well, beautiful seating area and lots of toys. My dogs had a fantastic time.
55Always so nice to be here 🫰🧡🐕! Our Pepper is always happy freely running in this amazing sniff spot! Our top spot to bring him every time we have a chance!
55Location was easy to find the host was very nice and situated us right away. My dogs had a blast. My German Shepherd did not want to leave. We will be back again!

Description

The Sniffspot Field is a 3 acre fully fenced area that you and your dog will have unsupervised access to for the time that you have booked. There is fresh filtered (RO) water and access to toys and Chuckit balls/launchers in this area at all times in addition to the other listed amenities. The entire farm is 36 fenced acres. For anyone interested, I will gladly provide supervised walks around the entire property for additional psychological enrichment at no additional cost. Note: Palmhill is a working organic farm. There may be an occasional worker sighting, but absolutely no reason for any employee to ever interact with a guest or their dogs. My interests lie in offering an affordable, large, safe, clean, offleash venue for guests and their canine companions. Thanks to an awesome group of guests who have been with us since first opening the venue, this has been a very rewarding experience. However, there have been, a few guests who have not been doing a very good job of cleaning up after their own dogs which makes it very unpleasant for the guests who come in to the venue next. I have many visitors who pick up dog droppings of other people's dogs and don't say a word, and also return toys and balls to the recepticles, but they shouldn't have to! I actually had a guest say to me, "Oh, I thought you had people to do that!" No, everyone is responsible for cleaning up after themselves before they leave the field. That's how we keep the venue tidy and affordable! I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation. I've had to post a list of reminders at the venue, (thank you, Michele) which I feel terrible about because they're not relevant for the MAJOROTY of Palmhill's guests. It's just a handful of mostly newer guests who aren't being very team friendly. I've met some awesome people and even more so awesome dogs, but sorry to say, if you don't play fair, you will be asked not to come back to this venue. Everyone is welcome including, large groups, highly reactive dogs, special needs dogs- dogs with anxiety, physical handicaps, previous dog park trauma dogs, etc. We love them all and will do our best to make everyone feel welcome! Thanks so much for your support! 🐾❤️🐾

Hazards

There is always the possibility of a venomous snake during rattlesnake season! Be Observant during those months that rattlers may be out and about! My own dogs have all had the Rattlesnake vaccine and boosters just in case, as well as avoidance training. Rattlers are part of the Southern California landscape, period. Although I've never seen one on this property, we do occasionally see Gopher snakes or (my favorite) the majestic King snake! It would be foolish to pretend like Rattlers couldn't be here, somewhere. It's best to be vigilant particularly if you see your dog fixated on something "in the grass." Be safe, have fun!

Additional rules

Sorry, but in an effort to avoid any last minute surprises, I'm going to ask for at least a 12 hour window before making any changes to your scheduled visits once booked. Please don't allow your dog to dig holes in the Sniffspot venue as it creates a hazard for other dogs that may be running in the space. Sorry to say, but many guests are not doing a very thorough job of picking up their dogs' droppings! In order to keep a clean venue for all to enjoy, I ask that everyone do their best to clean up after their dog\dogs. Also, please return all toys and balls to their assigned recepticles before leaving the field. Enjoy! Thank you!
