55My dog loves this SniffSpot! The yard is spacious and backs up to a scenic lake, with a thoughtful, dog-friendly set-up. Very obviously designed and planned put by true dog lovers. There’s an agility/obstacle course, balls for play, a hilarious “Stick Library” (take a stick, leave a stick), and so much natural beauty. Depending on the season, you might see turtles, beavers, egrets, foxes, and deer. While the wild animals aren’t in the yard when we’ve visited, my dog thoroughly loves to explore and enjoy all the scents they leave behind. Ryan and Larissa are fantastic hosts! They understand reactive dogs, having a rescue of their own, and they’re wonderfully accommodating with my dog, Winston. He usually gets nervous around strangers, but here he feels confident and runs around freely—a big improvement. I love seeing the utter joy on my urban pup’s face when he visits! The lake is stunning, with lily pads and abundant wildlife, making it equally scenic and relaxing for me to enjoy as much as my dog. I can’t recommend this location enough—it’s truly a wonderful place for dogs and their owners!
555/5 are not enough stars for this fabulous SniffSpot! The hosts have an amazing backyard with some gorgeous projects going, botanical and otherwise. Very thoughtfully set up, with all the things you might need, down to a first aid kit and chairs for humans. Grass, mulch, wood, and paved surfaces at various levels make a fascinating fenced yard to explore. Some fun agility equipment. And then there’s the pond! Yippee! What a gem. A great location made even better with care. The swimming and exploring made my dog’s day. Truly nice folks, too. Experienced with dogs and committed to making this world sunnier. Thanks. We felt the love. Dude is now sound asleep at home. We’ll be back!
55Fantastic SniffSpot and Larissa and Ryan are real-life dog whisperers! My 8 y/o rescue beagle can be reactive and get anxious around others. He was completely at ease here and even enjoyed Ryan giving him belly rubs and pets! First time he wasn’t nervous around strangers. The play area is a perfect size, with lots of trees and the lake out back is peaceful. While there, we saw egrets and a beaver. A haven for any dog that enjoys tracking scents. I was so thrilled to find a SniffSpot that has the feel of being in the country, within such a short drive of the city. Larissa and Ryan are true animal lovers and it’s evident they put that love into designing the yard. Highly recommended! Winston and I will definitely be repeat visitors. 😊♥️
55Amazing backyard! Ladybug had a blast chasing the soccer ball and the yard had a small hill that added to the energy expenditure of chase. The lake by the house is an added bonus and Ladybug loved a dip in the kiddy pool.
55Larissa's sniffspot was amazing! She showed us the lay of the land and was super friendly and sweet to our dogs. The yard had tons of things for the dogs - tires for then to run through, a little ramp, and agility course, and tons and tons of balls and other toys. The dogs also LOVED to swim! It was a great touch to have a doggy pool and doggy towels for dry off the dogs. We'd absolutely recommend this sniffspot and intend to come again!
55Great spot for swimming! Private access to small lake. No other dogs in sight, our dog enjoyed fetching in the water. Great hosts, friendly atmosphere with shady spots for sitting. Highly recommend!
55My foxhound Dante had another great time here as usual. He always gets so excited when I pull up to the their place because he knows where we're at.
55I love this location for the pups. Larissa is very kind and considerate. They have also added an agility course since we were last there
55Such a great location for my dog who loves to swim. Private access and the fauna helps keep my dog from wandering too far. Larissa and her husband are so welcoming and treat my dog as one of their own - they go above and beyond. So grateful
55Our dog, Atlas, had an amazing time here! There was plenty of space for him to run around and play with the toys provided by the host. The area was securely fenced, so we had no concerns about his safety. Atlas particularly loved the lovely private lake in the yard, where he experienced swimming for the first time! I highly recommend this spot; the yard was fantastic, and the host was incredibly kind, providing toys, treats, and more to make our stay enjoyable. We were also there to take product pictures for Pouty Paws, and Atlas got to model some of our latest products. It was a perfect backdrop for the photos, and Atlas had such a great time swimming and posing! Overall, it was a peaceful, relaxing day, and we can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend!

Hello! My name is Larissa, and my dog Reptar and I are excited to welcome you to Reptar's Lakeside backyard in Woodbridge! Raising fosters and rescues my whole life, I understand first hand that many dog owners seek alternatives to dog parks and they can be hard to come by near water or lacking other amenities. We'd love to have your dog(s) enjoy our backyard oasis, fully fenced with private lake access with you!

Relaxing oasis in Alexandria

After living in a townhome in Old Town for 20 years with no yard or outdoor space, I decided to buy a new house. My dogs only exercise was walking on a leash or finding empty dog parks at strange hours. Although my dogs were well-behaved, I observed a lot of negative behavior from pets and owners in city dog parks and wasn’t comfortable letting my dogs mingle there. When I bought this house a couple years ago, I knew I wanted to create an oasis for my pets. My landscape architect clearcut 75 feet back into the woods, installed retaining walls to help level the steep slope on the side yard and planted lots of grass to create the perfect backyard. The property is on almost an acre, so the back of the fence is very private with a wooded area. Occasionally, you can see deer on their way to the creek and hear fox behind the fence, although that is usually after 11pm. There is a lot of privacy and nature to enjoy from the patio. The yard is bright and sunny in the morning and shady after 2 or so. Since my yard brings so much joy to my dogs, when my friend told me about Sniffspot, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to share this dog friendly space with the community. There is always ample street parking right in front of my house. The 6 foot fence is reinforced with chicken wire to keep small dogs in and other animals out. The gentle slope is perfect for fetch to wear out high energy dogs faster. Lots of areas to sniff and explore. The entire yard is dog friendly with no pesticides or toxic plants. Water hose, dog bowl, toys, dog bags and trash can are provided. This yard was created for my dogs so all furniture is pet friendly and the dogs go wherever they want. I do try to keep them out of the fenced part of the garden (where the tacky yard art lives 😂) due to beer traps for the slugs but I don’t freak out when they jump the mini-fence. I don’t want any guest to feel any stress while visiting. Dogs will be dogs and normal dog behavior is expected. There is a fan next to the gazebo for warm days. The fan is plugged into a multi-outlet extension cord and you’re welcome to use both! If you’re into grounding, I never wear shoes when I’m in my yard. The yard is probably more than a quarter of an acre. The land that goes with my house is 1 acre. However, I don’t know how to measure the inside fence and I’d rather under promise and overdeliver. The entrance from the street is double gated, like a dog park, to prevent accidental escapes. Enjoy the gazebo and patio with dog beds for relaxing and shade. Surrounded by trees, the birds and fountain offer the perfect oasis to get away from high stress city living. Wednesday late mornings and early afternoons are blocked off for my lawn mowing company. Monday mornings, my dog poop pickup company services my yard. On Mondays, they usually come in the morning, but I don’t have a specific time. If you have a people aggressive dog, you may want to avoid this time since I don’t know when they will actually show up. I do pick up daily but have the service for anything missed as it’s a large yard with 3 dogs to track. If interested in hosting a party, I am open to a group of people and more dogs than the limit states. Send a chat to discuss details.
