55What a great spot to bring your pups, my dog's right off the gate felt comfortable and loved going around sniffing everything. I walked around and made sure everything was safe and secure for them and it was. The pool was lovely. My dog's are not avid swimmers but it was a great opportunity to teach them bit by bit. I did bring a life jacket for one of my dog's but the other didn't come in time for my golden. So glad life jackets were available. I threw one onto my golden and sure enough he fell in by accident and I was able to guide him back to the steps. So I would definelty say even if you don't use the pool just throw on a life jacket for those just in case moments. Loved walking around and seeing all the plants, so did my pups which meant that I was right behind them making sure they didn't trample on them. If your dogs tend to destroy plants I would just be weary. Overall great spot, great pool. My pups are super tired, glad we took the trip. Will defintly be back!
55Once again, me and Remy had a blast!! Hands down Our favorite spot. I literally take an hour drive just to come here when there’s many places way closer near me, but the hospitality and how nice Sherri has been to me Remy & my significant other has been such a blessing. I definitely don’t mind the hour & change drive !💖 I love that I’m able to swim with my sweet baby 🥹😍 she knows exactly where we are the minute I turn into your street. Aha
55I would give them 10 stars if I could! The pool was amazing, they left towels and water and so many toys, the yard is gorgeous, and the communication was excellent!!! I can’t recommend it highly enough :) thank you for sharing your yard with us!
55This was our first time on a Sniffspot and the experience at Sammy's playground was amazing. Sherri was extremely accommodating and nice. The backyard was beautiful and my pups had a great time.
55Such a beautiful place, super clear communication, my dogs had such a good time running and swimming
55I feel like it’s a resort!! They have tons of supplies for both you and doggy!!
55This is such a lovely spot!! I cannot recommend it enough!
55my three dogs had SO much fun. i went with my dad and my partner and the pool was very nice. my disabled dog was able to fit perfectly in the life jacket provided. The host left plenty of treats, towels, water, and toys! the gates openings were small enough so my 15 pound dog was not able to get out. we felt safe and secure. there were accommodations for owners and their fur babies! i would definitely recommend for anyone with reactive dogs who want to explore!
55This was an awesome spot! Very clear access directions, clean, lots of materials like balls and towels - beautiful pool and yard! We had an awesome time!
55Sherri is an exceptional host with a wonderful property. I can't believe our good fortune in finding her and we'll surely visit her again. Highly Recommended!!!!!

Description

Come and play in Sammy’s Playground. There’s lots to do. With the entire 0.5-acre backyard fully enclosed by a new chain-link fence (Fall 2022), the pups are free to roam and run to their hearts delight. And, wow… it sure is fun to watch them go!! Zoom-Zoom (important notices on pricing and opening the gate are at close of this section). The areas along the edges of the yard are wooded and make for fun pathways for explorations. The central area of the yard has a slight hill and is mostly open. This makes for plenty of romping and heavy-duty running- including long throws of a ball or a frisbee. Check out all of the photos and read the accompanying descriptions to get a better idea of how Sammy’s Playground will appeal to you and your furry friends!! And don’t worry about the yard (too much). There’s divots and mounds all around, no manicured lawns when dogs are at play. Go for it guys… Enjoy!! As promised, mid-May ‘24, the pool💦 was opened. While it’s likely be too chilly for humans (and even some pups), many dogs will find great pleasure in retrieving their ball or simply going for a dip in the pool. For 💦 pool use, select the corresponding “Extra” for your visit. By June, the furniture, gazebo, hammock, kiddie pool and a whole bunch more will be out for ALL to enjoy as we welcome summertime!! Yea. It’s our hope that the relationships between us and our guests remain great and we haven’t found the need to raise our hourly rate. Yea again! ——- NOTE: to open the gate, simply reach over the top to find the key. Twist/turn the key until it stops. Then, lift the knob on top of the gate and push the gate open… you’re in! The gate automatically closes behind you. Please confirm that it has engaged into the closed position and then turn the key to lock yourself in. DO NOT REMOVE THE KEY. The photos section includes views of the gate, key and lock. NOTE: As an “Extra” listed benefit, you may park your vehicle in an area away from the gate and take advantage of a leisurely stroll down the very-well-kept sidewalks of Park Street and adjoining neighborhoods. This might be a good way to burn off that last little bit of doggy energy or for some leash training while you’re here. This is time AFTER your booked time of using Sammy’s Playground (not a part of it). This is essentially a parking fee. We just don’t want you to run off without taking advantage of all the resources available to you for your dog(s).

Hazards

Fence: The fence was installed in the Fall of 2022. It is primarily 4-foot tall, chain-link fence. The fence and gates at the Main and a side entrance are aluminum rods with ~4” spacing. This makes Sammy’s Playground not safe for dogs about 15 lbs or less. Yard: The yard is for dogs and is not a manicured lawn. It is, after all, a yard for dogs. There are divots and small holes throughout the far back of the yard to which folks and pooches alike should be aware and careful. Deck: Stepping off the deck in the back is a big step. It’s best to be mindful when stepping from the concrete alongside the pool onto the deck. We have had two children slip and scrape their knees. Shed: Do not walk on or allow your dog to walk on the small deck associated with the shed/garden center. The deck is in total disrepair. The main wood shed door should be closed. If left open, don’t let your dog(s) enter. There’s fertilizer and other lawn care products in there. We apologize if that door was left open. Gates: MUST ALWAYS BE CLOSED and LOCKED - It is extremely important that folks pay close and strict attention to ensuring that the mechanisms that keep the gates closed are indeed CLOSED and LOCKED. Be certain that the Main Gate is indeed locked by giving the gate a gentle jiggle. When locked, there will be a little red dot that will appear through a small circle where the key/lock is. Do not remove the key for ANY reason. Photographs of this system are shown in the photos section of Sammy’s Playground SniffSpot. This spot has a water feature, make sure to review these guidelines for visiting spots with water before visiting: https://help.sniffspot.com/article/167-how-to-keep-your-dog-safe-around-pools-and-water

Hi, we’re Sherri and David… married for 35 years now and still going strong. We raised our two sons here, Justin and Mitch, and have had the pleasure to supplement our family with countless dogs and cats, and even a couple of indoor bunnies and a tortoise. We mostly adopt senior dogs, but this time we fell in love with an adult dog (6 years old). He is a big black lab/German Shepherd mix named Sammy (he’s a rescue from Texas, our 5th); hence, we named this Sniffspot “Sammy’s Playground” after him. Sammy’s unpredictable behavioral issues make him a poor candidate for any public playground. It’s for this reason that we created this private playground - so that dogs like Sammy can enjoy a safe and secure place to play, zoom, SWIM and sniff. It’s why we offer the play space for the affordable rate, because we are sensitive to folks having dogs like our Sammy. *** As an aside, our volunteer work focuses primarily on collecting donations of dog items for PAWS New England, a large dog rescue organization, a 501(c)3. Donations of dog and puppy food are needed. We will happily accept donations on your behalf- dog and puppy FOODS are paramount!! You can always otherwise donate through their website, find another rescue pup and learn of other opportunities to get involved, including how to become a foster parent/family. PawsNewEngland.com Thank you for considering Sammy’s Playground
