Pig Beach (near Port Ludlow)

Fully Fenced
0.63 acres

A .63 acre dog sanctuary for you and your pup. The yard is well maintained with dog friendly grass and has incredible views of the Hood Canal and Puget Sound. If you're interested, there is private beach access for you and your pup to explore miles of beach (public but almost always empty). There are numerous dog toys available and a massive 6+ person, dog friendly couch (late Spring to early Fall) you can relax on and watch the canal when you need a break! Regarding the beach, there are approximately 50 steps which you will need to climb up and down to access the beach so please wear proper footwear. As this is on the Hood Canal and not a lake or a pond, tides impact the size of the beach. If you are hoping to walk endless miles of beach, the tide will need to be at 2ft or below. Anything under 4ft will give you a massive area (probably 1/2 mile or more) and almost guaranteed private area as only people with stairs can access the beach at this tide level. Though the beach is open at any point, I think the maximum height you would probably want to go is about 6.5ft. This still gives you and your dog a decent sized area to play in (approximately 500ft by 30ft or 1/2 acre). Photos 16 and 17 show the beach at 6.25ft with a very large sandy area for you and your pup to play in. Anything above 6.5 ft is not recommended as the beach just gets thinner and thinner, but you're able to try if you want. (no refunds given if you don't like what you find). You are responsible for checking out the tides before you go. Legally, I can't recommend any specific source for you to use, but you might find good information Googling "tide chart port ludlow". Regarding ADA Accessibility, my property is on a gently sloping hill. To access it, there are 2 very wide concrete steps to get to the grass. This would be doable for someone on crutches and probably ok for a regular wheelchair if you had a second person to help lower you to each step and pull you up. It's definitely not accessible to a motorized wheelchair. Sorry. Note - restroom is only available if I'm home, otherwise there is one approximately 2 miles northwest at the gas station in Port Ludlow

55PaJo Ranch is my reactive dog's little slice of heaven! Robin was gracious and friendly. She greeted us as we drove in and led us to a field where we could park in a quiet spot, away from my dog's triggers. The path down to Skykomish River is super fun for the dogs! Lots of tall grasses to jump and skip through. Great place to practice your recall ;) Definitely wear long pants and boots. And bring a towel and water for the dogs. They'll have fun getting their paws muddy from all the romping and they'll be thirsty from running! We would definitely like to come back!

55Wonderful spot! Wish I could spend all day out there. The trail was a bit overgrown from the recent rain, and we had to keep our dogs on leash for the 30 minute walk around the planted field, as instructed by the owner, but that’s no problem when you have the place to yourself! Lots of allergens and bees out, so bring those antihistamines. The beach is vast and the river is shallow for a ways out. The owner is very friendly and accommodating.

55PaJo Ranch is THE BEST. This is our fifth or sixth visit. It is a wonderful retreat away from the city for our VERY reactive shepherd mix. Our girl is reactive to just about everything, but our visits to PaJo Ranch have really helped her build her confidence bit-by-bit. This is really the only place she can "be a dog" and we LOVE it here.

55"The host Robin is wonderful and welcoming. Our dogs had a great time running on the trails and playing in the river. One thing to note is the 10-15min walk (on leash) from where you park to the off leash area. It is flat and easy to walk, just make sure to plan for that time when you set up your reservation and bring good walking shoes, and a bag to carry anything with you like toys or water. We can’t wait to go back again!"

55We loved this spot so much! I really enjoyed meeting Robin as well as the rhythm of taking a path-walk before the reveal of the river romp spot. If you like taking dog photos, there are some super fun backdrops all in one spot (water, huge trees, wheatfield). The variety of environments and the cool-off-ability afforded by the river are great, but I would totally come back in the winter too.

55Robin, the host, was great, super nice and friendly. The ranch is huge! There is about a 15-20 minute walk to get to the off leash area but you can drive it if you'd prefer. There are trails for running, trees for shade then down to the river to cool off and swim. My dog needs space to run and this place was perfect!

55Access to the River is so much fun. We really loved it here, again! I will plan a longer reservation next time, so we can enjoy the river even longer (because I love not rushing the walk down there too...so much to smell). Robin is a positive presence :) Thanks, Robin! If your dog is reactive to things and people in the distance you may want to arrange to scout the location ahead of time, or take a second person, if you plan to work on DS/CC training or rehab. There isn't a fence down near the River portion, of course, and the occasional surprise person/groups of people have appeared during both our visits. But we still loved it and will come back again for sure.

55"There are so many reasons to love Pajo ranch. -Robin is very nice and really gets dogs. She is accommodating if your dog is reactive or needs more space. -The river is beautiful for the humans and fun for the dogs to swim or wade in. There is a large rocky beach (at least in the fall/late summer) to run around on. -lots of great smells to keep the nose engaged. -wide open expanses for frisbee chasing -bonus was geese to chase out of the field We had a great time which resulted in two very tired dogs!!"

55We are first-time users of sniff spot. The farm was a great experience for our 2 year old Border Collie mix who is reactive to other dogs. He does not often get a chance to run like crazy in a wide open space. We had the added benefit of a flock of geese for him to Chase. The only reason I do not give this a 5-star review is because we had some trouble finding a good pathway down to the river. We will definitely use the sniff spot again

55This property delights both dog & owners with plenty of walking opportunities. There's a trail leading to the woods and the Skykomish River. Our dogs explored to their hearts' content and we had the peace of mind not encountering another dog around the corner. It was probably a 15 minutes walk to the river, and we saw geese and ducks along the way. It's March and there are patches of snow here and there, but wasn't muddy and the ground was firm not soft. At the river we wished we'd brought lawn chairs while the dogs busy themselves romping the shallow waters. We took a short cut across the field to get to our parked car. Robin was very nice, she greeted us when we arrived and gave some information about where to go.

This property delights both dog & owners with plenty of walking opportunities.

55We had an incredible time here yesterday! To be honest, at first I wasn't sure....it's early in the year and the foliage and grass is really overgrown so initially I had a hard time finding the trails. And it was just me and my dog so I was a little nervous being alone in the woods. But, once we got our bearings and started to relax, we had an amazing time exploring. This is a truly beautiful place and I felt soooo peaceful. The paths to the river are completely hidden right now and we had a super hard time finding a way down to the water...but, once we did, it was incredible! The challenge of finding it actually made it even cooler, kind of like an oasis, and we were so happy running down to splash around. This place is magical....really gorgeous place to be and Robin makes it even more special. I just liked her immediately...her energy is so welcoming & pleasant and she was so patient helping us find her place and showing us around. She said she'll be clearing the trails soon now that the weather has dried out but either way we are already looking forward to another visit. Definitely recommend you bring your dog(s) here...they (and you) will love it!!!! ♥

55Holy cow! Incredible, incredible Sniffspot! This was our 2nd visit and we already have another reservation. Really cool, beautiful area. Since we knew our way around we just went straight to the trailhead and did a short amount of hiking before finding the river. Cooper was ecstatic to be back and remembered exactly where to go. We figured out if we walked to the left once we got down to the water there were deeper spots which would actually allow Cooper to do a little swimming. Boats pass by every so often (we only saw 1 this time in our 2 hours) and I'm not sure if there are strong currents further out so I keep him closer to shore just in case. He had a super duper fun time. One warning: scan the rocks in the water for lures...people fish these waters and I did pull 2 hooked lures out of the rocks. Absolutely amazing place, definitely a must visit for any Sniffspotter!

55We are just in heaven here. We have been here many times and it's absolutely breathtaking....the crop field is so pretty when it starts to blossom and the river is spectacular. So peaceful and soothes my soul. Cooper has the time of his life exploring all of the trails, digging in the sand and splashing around in the river and we both have the best time ever. Very private and we've never seen any other animals here so a great place for a reactive dog to run free. Thank you Robin for sharing your space with us. ♥

55What a pleasant experience. Robin, the host, was gracious and informative. Her property is an incredible piece of heaven where a dog can have the time of their life and the owner can relax and not worry about what's around the corner. Two hours was sufficient, for the dogs were completely worn out by that time. There were large, and I mean large, fields to roam and romp around. Then there's the swimming in the river. An active dog will be a tired dog after all that. We especially admired the very large and old tree on our way to the river. So peaceful. Here's a link to a video of our dogs running free. https://youtu.be/geSfrwscc7Q. This place would be heaven for a reactive dog. It's very private.

55Robin is a great host--met us and gave us information about different areas of the property. There's a large pasture, some grassy trails, small sand dunes (if your dog likes running up and down dunes like our does!), and a wonderful river front. My son spent a good long time on the river skipping stones while the dog enjoyed getting in the river to look for them and running about with sticks. We will certainly return!

55We've been here several times and each time is incredible. This is such a beautiful, spectacular place and one of our favorites. There is a large crop field that you will need to make your way around to get to the trailhead but it's gorgeous and, for us, one of the best parts. Once you get to the trailhead you will have the option to hike around and explore or you can head straight to the river. In all the times we've been here we've never had any encounters with animals of any kind and only once was there a person nearby....a fisherman who was down on the far end of the bank who eventually left. Otherwise everyone else was either passing by on boat or float across the river. Most of the time though there isn't a soul around and we really just enjoy the seclusion and the beauty all around....it's really pretty. In the warmer months Cooper has a blast swimming around and digging in the sandy patches, in the cooler months it's just a really lovely walk. Really great super awesome Sniffspot and Robin, the host, is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. ♥

55Samm found a piece of spaniel heaven today! Thank you Robin for sharing your Sniff Spot! We worked on our recall which is why she is wearing a bell - I needed to know where she was. Samm did awesome! This was our first unfenced area. This is a great spot if you have a reactive dog - Samm isn't but there wasn't any other dogs or people around. The property borders the river so we ( meaning she who has no fear) did a lot of swimming. The river has areas of rock and sand. We most certainly will be back! Our host Robin was sweet and kind. Samm liked her right away as did I!

FAQ about our Everett dog beaches

Are dog beaches safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by park users so you can find the perfect safe place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars.
How can I find dog beaches near me?
There are 3 dog beaches in the Everett area. The most popular dog beach is Tripper's Creekside Fenced Park 5.9Acre RAIN SHELTER & FULL LIGHTS for After Dark Water Training Obstacles Picnic Table Chairs. You can browse all of our dog beaches here.
How do I know if a dog beach works for my dog?
Start by applying basic filters, such as fencing and distractions, to find a dog park that works for your furry friends. If your dog doesn't respond to owner commands, you can visit one of our enclosed dog park areas. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our dog beach sites where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can see any park amenities provided, including a park bench, water for dogs or water features such as kiddie pool or water hose. If your dog loves water, you can go to a park with water features, but if they don't love water, you can avoid them. We also recommend reading reviews to check for park maintenance issues and reaching out to the host with any questions. And lastly, of course, check park hours. Many of our parks are open from dawn until dusk.
What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot park?
We require that all dogs have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not allow dogs with a bite history. We require that owners sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules. We also require that pet owners follow safety protocols around water features.
Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot park at the same time as me?
No. We only allow one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the area during visits. So when you book a Sniffspot park you have the entire place to yourself and your dog-owning friends if you invite them. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings so you will not run into other park patrons when coming or leaving.
How much do Sniffspot dog beaches cost?
Dog beaches in the Everett area range from $5.0 and $5.0. The least expensive dog beach is Heron's Creek in Maltby. The most expensive dog beach is Heron's Creek in Maltby. Each host sets their own price, so you can check the price on the specific Sniffspot dog park listing.
Can I have an event or party at a dog beach?
If you are planning an amazing dog beach party, each Sniffspot park has their own rules regarding special events. Many parks allow doggie birthday parties, training, water parties and other event types. Event organizers need to be responsible for their guests and event organizers should coordinate with the host regarding their fun party. Make sure the park has amenities you need for your party, such as a park with lots of picnic tables with park benches.
