Our property is a dog’s paradise! We have an open backyard, wooded trails, and an orchard out back with tall grasses. We keep the trails and orchard mowed for walking, but your dog will have ample woods, puddles, and other adventures at their disposal! Since we live in the woods, we occasionally have trees fall down on our 5 foot welded wire fence. Please be mindful if your dog is an exit seeker, although we walk the fence and mend any spots we see often. There is a large pole barn visible near the gate where you enter that is our neighbor’s yard. His yard/barn is not visible from the rest of the property once you’re down the path a little ways. For SPRING/SUMMER months, tics and mosquitos are around. We do not spray our land, so make sure you and your pup have the protection you need. In summer mosquitos are often worse near dawn and at dusk, especially in thicker parts of the woods, and less so in the backyard and orchard areas. In the winter, we snowmobile our trails to keep them walkable! There may be slippery spots here and there, so prepare accordingly! Be sure to look ahead at the roads on MN 511 in case of winter weather.

Now my description: Opportunity Woods offers 5+ acres of hilly woods and long grass meadow surrounded by a secure 6 foot fence. Several benches are placed along the rustic trails, but of course, there is no need to stay on a trail! A water bowl can be found and filled from the human-potable water hydrant, where you will also find a wading pool for dog and human use in summer. There is a roofed picnic/shade shelter just up the hill from the hydrant. Take in the serene view of the surrounding area, and get a Birdseye view of Opportunity Farm, where sheep graze the nearby paddocks. Wire-wheel tables and chairs are available for relaxing, hanging out with your dog or having a picnic. Have your dog invite their friends to join in the fun, or have a private play date just with you!

The riverbed, grass field, and smaller fenced area are all open for play! We have a beautiful piece of land with a mostly fenced perimeter and 1/3 acre fully fenced doggy play area. If you drive in by the picnic table you are in the center of 18 acres to play on and will be quite a distance from the road. There are mowed walking paths to the beautiful Kinnickinnic river, far away from other people and animals. You and your dog will love it here! The river is cold and easy for dogs to hop in and out, (not easy for humans right now). If you want to keep them out of the water there is about 10 acres of open field where you park, separate and above the river so you don't need to have them down by the water at all. (although most dogs gravitate to there!)

Love love loved this place. My dog loved this place. She got to run full speed and roll, and sniff and be a dog. There was just the right amount of woods and open space. Mosquitoes were very present, but nothing that some Picardin applied couldn’t help if you have a portable water bowl bring it in with you. I forgot mine and Ava had to drink from the spout and ground. Great place to work on recall when they get out of sight range. Thank you for offering your space

This was my very first visit to a "sniff spot ". I loved everything about it. Rachel was great at giving me tips prior to my arrival to make sure I knew what to expect. If you want an off leash hiking experience, without worrying about other people or other dogs... this is the spot for you. We let our dogs guide us on the trails, up, down, left and right. We just hiked for the whole hour. We've had a lot of rain in mn, so we applied bug spray and as long as we kept walking the mosquitoes didn't bother us. I did not acquire a single bug bite. There were some muddy spots and standing water... so expect both you and your dog will need a bath when you get home, at least during this rainy period. My dogs had a blast running the trails, getting filthy dirty, and just being dogs. Thank you for sharing this space with dog owners. I look forward to coming back.

We visited after a week of straight rain to get some energy out. The paths were very well maintained. Loved having some variety (shaded paths through trees, orchard, paths in the field). I don't think I even have words for how amazing this location is. Nice fencing that I felt was totally secure to contain my dogs. Great spot to take photos of your dog off leash.

Nice wooded area with beautiful trails and mix of sun and shade! Mosquitos were pretty thick due to it being kind of muggy but we brought bug spray and were able to enjoy ourselves in the woods! Dogs loved the kiddie pool which was a must have for my 3 bully breeds on a warm day. Fencing was secure for my 65 lb bulldogs and for my 15 lb Boston “Terror”.

Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot hiking trail at the same time as me?

Sniffspot only allows one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the spot during visits. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings.
