DOG PARK RULES
Failure to follow rules can result in revocation of the Dog Park Permit
• USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
• OPEN TUESDAY THRU SUNDAY, 7AM TO 8PM. CLOSED ON MONDAYS UNTIL 1PM. PARK MAY BE CLOSED (UNANNOUNCED) FOR MAINTENANCE OR AT DIRECTOR’S DISCRETION.
• EACH DOG MUST BE A PERMITTED MEMBER OF LAFRENIERE DOG PARK (available in office).
• CHILDREN UNDER 10 ARE PROHIBITED; CHILDREN BETWEEN 10 AND 18 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT. NO CHILDREN’S TOYS ALLOWED.
• ALL DOGS MUST HAVE CURRENT RABIES AND OTHER VACCINES, AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
• DOGS MUST BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED.
• FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH ALL DOG PARK RULES MAY RESULT IN A SUMMONS AND PERMANENT FORFEITURE OF DOG PERMIT.
• OWNER/HANDLER MUST CLEAN UP AFTER THEIR DOG AND PUT LITTER IN TRASH RECEPTACLES.",REQUIRED,"➢ Dog must wear a valid dog license and be current on vaccinations.
➢ Owners/handlers are responsible and liable for the actions and behavior of their dogs.
➢ Owners/handlers must not leave dog unattended.
➢ Owner/handle must control dog at all times. Dogs showing aggression must be leashed and immediately removed from the Dog Park by owner/handler.
➢ Owners/handlers must supervise dog at all times -- remain inside fenced area, with leash in hand, and within view and voice control of dog.
➢ Dogs must be leashed when preparing to leave and while outside the enclosed area. Dogs must be off leash when in the Dog Park.
➢ Any dog bite must be reported to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Department and JPAWS (Jefferson Protection and Animal Welfare Services).
➢ Dog Park gates must be closed immediately after entering or exiting the Park. Do not hold open gates for others to enter. You must be a member to use the Lafreniere Park Dog Park. (Ordinance 26376)

➢ Dogs younger than four (4) months
➢ Dogs that are ill or sick
➢ More than three (3) dogs per owner/handler at one time
➢ Dog treats, snacks, rawhide and food/edibles of any sort. No human food allowed.
➢ Balls and toys of any type
➢ Spike, pronged, shock or choke collars
➢ Allowing dogs to form packs
➢ Allowing dog to bully another/ aggressive behavior
➢ Digging – Owner/handler must stop dog from digging and must fill any hole
➢ Dogs over 22 lbs. in the small-dog area
➢ Smoking, or tobacco, alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, or firearms.
➢ Glass containers
➢ Running, jogging, and the use of bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards, strollers or scooters.
➢ Chasing or playing with a dog in the park without an owner’s/ handler’s permission.
➢ Excessive cell phone usage. You must pay attention to your dog and give them your full attention.
Park hours: 7:00 am – 8pm
