55This was a fantastic spot to take my dog and burn off some energy! There were birds, rabbits, and even a turkey. There are a couple spots that are not fenced in, so if you have a dog that likes to wander off you'll want to keep a close eye on them. Trails are kept in great condition and easy walking. Overall a fantastic place!Laura S.

55So much space! Our dog really enjoyed roaming the paths and sniffing around in the taller grass. The hills were also fun for her to have the vantage point. Nichole L.

55Fantastic location and really kind host! We got a little confused finding the entrance, making us pretty late for our reservation and our host allowed us to stay for our full hour anyway. Our dogs loved it, too!Brilynn B.

55This spot is awesome! It is set back off the road with a private entrance. It is a little hard to see so make sure to slow down. The fenced in area was amazing and where we spent most of our visit playing with the provided toys. (We were running late and forgot to pack some of our own). The mowed paths were tidy, the fenced in area mowed, water, bowls were there which were very useful! We only had a short visit due to our own mistake and the rain, but we are so excited to return and check out more of the paths! Here is a picture of our boy after we got in the car 🤣Alicia F.

55This was amazing for our reactive dog! He’s a blue heeler/lab mix with a ton of energy and anxiety. We started by playing fetch in the fenced area (off leash), it’s bigger than how the pictures look. Then we took him around the trail on leash and let him sniff and walk at his pace. By the end of the hour he was wiped out and laying down in the car on the way home. It’s the most tired he’s ever been. I would recommend this to anyone with a reactive, anxious, energetic dog that struggles to be around people, cars or other dogs. Rebecca S.

55They have truly done an amazing job with this sniffspot. Love the trails. The small fully fenced in area is perfect. We both start and end in there while I'm putting on/taking off their gear. Truly a beautiful spot. My 4 dogs love it. I have 2 puppies and 2 adults (4yr and 7yr). They all equally enjoy being there. The entire spot is not fully fenced in, but this has never been a problem for me. My pups have great recalls, but I have them drag a long line to be safe just in case. The adults tend to follow their noses so they are on 30ft long lines and it's worked out perfectly for us. There is a lot of brush around the fence line so a lot of dogs likely wouldn't go through, but I have a houdini who has practice getting through fences so I do the long lines.
One thing for visitors, there's been a lot of construction on Jeffers road this summer. Still easy to access the spot, just pay attention as you may have to take a little detour. I didn't pay attention and had to back track a bit today 🙃Amber G.

55we had such a great time and will definitely be coming back! we planned to just start out in the fenced in area before going to the trails, but my small dog was having so much fun playing fetch and sniffing around offleash that we just stayed in there the whole time. it was very well maintained and the owner even had a jug of water sitting out for us to use, along with dishes, toys, poop bags, and more. i’m looking forward to walking the trail next time.Lily D.

55Well-maintained trails and smaller fenced area. Both dogs enjoyed running around and checking out all of the smells! We werent worried about the dogs running off with the thick brush along the edges of the trail but kept our more anxious dog on a long lead so he could safely explore. Will definitely be back again. We left with two tires pups. Rhiana K.

FAQ about our Altoona dog parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 97% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Altoona area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 29 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 3 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
