Rensselaer Dog Park
Park Rules and Regulations
1. Small Dogs are 25 pounds or less. Large dogs are 25 pounds or more.
2. Must have permit and sign documents prior to use of dog park. Only registered dogs and their owners displaying a park pass are allowed in the dog park. A member who knowingly allows an unregistered dog in the park will risk having their membership revoked.
3. Dog pass must be worn by owners and visible while in the fenced area with their dog.
4. All dogs must be leashed outside of the fenced areas. Prong and choke collars are not allowed.
5. All dogs must be current on: rabies, distemper, parvo, leptospirosis vaccines, heart worm and flea prevention treatment. Proof of this must be provided and included as part of the registration process. Bordetella vaccines are highly recommended for the safety of your own dog’s health.
6. For safety reasons, children 12 and under will not be permitted in the dog park fenced area. 13-17 must have an adult present.
7. No puppies under 4 months allowed in the park.
8. Aggressive dogs, ill dogs, and females in heat are not permitted in the park. Dogs that exhibit vicious, fierce, or dangerous behavior are not permitted at any time in the park. If your dog becomes unruly or aggressive you must leash your dog and exit the enclosure.
9. Food, glass containers, cigarettes, and alcohol are not permitted in fences area. These items can be enticing and hazardous to pets. Small bite sized training treats are permitted if enclosed in a plastic bag. Please be discreet when dispending them. Do not share dog treats without owners permission.
10. Be respectful of other dogs and their owners. Do not allow your dog to be a nuisance to other dogs and their owners. Animal abuse will not be tolerated and will be reported to authorities.
11. Owners are legally and financially responsible for their dogs and any injuries or damage caused by their dogs. If property damage or injury occurs please report to 911.
12. Use of the park is at your own risk, including but not limited to the risk of being bitten, knocked, down, or other unforeseen accidents.
13. Dogs are expected to have basic obedience training and respond to voice commands.
14. Excessive barking and fence fighting must be discouraged.
15. No digging allowed in the park or along the fencing. Owners must try to fill in any holes their dogs may dig.
16. Frisbees, balls, and retrieval toys are allowed, but be prepared to share them with other park visitors.
17. Maximum number of dogs allowed in one time is 20 dogs on a weekday and 40 on the weekends.
18. Park hours are from dawn to 11 p.m.
19. Bicycles, inline skates, roller skates, skateboards, strollers, and all motorized vehicles are not permitted in the dog park. However, wheelchairs, motorized wheelchairs, crutches and walkers are permitted.
20. No one, especially children, outside of the fence should ever yell at the dogs, tease them, call them to the fence, or attempt to pet a dog through the fences.
21. Shoes must be worn at all times.
22. Any violations of these rules will be subject to having their membership revoked and not allowed back. Banned members may submit a request to the Parks Dept for their considerations for reapproval.
