55Bryan warned me that with all the rain it could be muddy, so I was prepared. It still was a great experience. Lots and lots of space for the pups to run. Completely fenced in, although you can go outside the fence if you want to visit the creek/river. Teddy and Beau enjoyed running and smelling all the new smells that were ever present. They met some chickens and a horse! Bryan was very accommodating, very kind. Lois I.

55Brian warned me it would be muddy from all the spring rain, so I was prepared. The fence was very secure, and my pup is exhausted from exploring! Brian was very kind and accommodating! We will definitely be back!
I parked in Brian’s yard, and he walked me down to the gate and directed me towards the driest path to enter. I took the path along the outside of the fence where there are pallets laid down. Brian was super helpful! Katie H.

55We absolutely love this spot. A huge fenced in area. Our dog was so happy to have so much off leash space to explore. There is also a trail along the river that is lovely. The hosts are extremely friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be returning!Jessica P.

55What a beautiful place! My pup had the time of her life!!! We will definitely go back to explore more!!
I was really glad I wore my hiking shoes - and next time, would wear boots. There was a lot of mud and water to wade through because of all the rain we recently had. Of course, Cleo loved romping around in it!Patti K.

55This was our second visit, and it did not disappoint. Nervous Cleo realized where she was as soon as she got into the car, and led the way. Luckily, it had dried out quite a bit so was easier to navigate for me. She had so much fun running and playing in the woods and especially in the creek.
Although the creek is outside of the fence - it is such that I didn't worry at all letting her off the leash to explore it. Patti K.

55Bryan and his family were great hosts! I explained that I have a deaf/reactive dog, and they were very accommodating. Bryan greeted us to open the main gate and provided directions to the creek area. The farm is beautiful, and Ozzy and I had a lot of fun exploring. We only stayed for an hour, but I could see myself booking longer in cooler weather. Speaking of cool, Ozzy loved splashing in the creek!
Visitors also have the option of paying $5 for a dozen farm fresh eggs. I didn't select it, and I was kind of regretting it as I walked around because all I could think about was how tasty the eggs probably were! Ha ha, who doesn't love a farm fresh egg? As we were getting ready to leave, Bryan popped out to open the gate and chat about our visit. Imagine my surprise when he also presented us with some eggs! It was very kind, and I'm looking forward to enjoying them later this week! Next time, I'll have to grab a full dozen :)
We'll definitely be back later in the year! I love the Lancaster area, and the farm's a wonderful place to explore and let your dog be a dog.
A few tips for visitors:
1. Wear good shoes! The ground might be uneven in places, and it can be slippery closer to the edge of the creek. Think of it as slightly off-trail hiking!
2. Shade was provided by the hosts, but ample shade is also available thanks to the trees along the path/fence line. It made it much easier and more pleasant to navigate on a summer day! We even spotted some deer! Farm equipment and horses have made the trail less overgrown; just watch out for the occasional "present" left behind by a horse!
3. As with any hike, be mindful of bugs/ticks and check your dogs/yourselves! We were tick-free at the end of our visit.
4. There IS a small road farther back, past the creek (outside the fenced area). If you take your dogs back there, make sure they have good recall or use a long line for safety.
5. Make sure to be respectful and close any gates along the way! They're doing the community a favor by sharing their space with us, so make sure to treat their home with respect :)

FAQ about our Lancaster dog hiking trails
Are dog hiking trails safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. With a Sniffspot off-leash area all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars. Our hiking trails tend to be outside the city, which lends to more privacy, but it is also important to follow typical hiking safety precautions, such as potentially having trail maps.
How can I find dog hiking trails in Lancaster?
There are 8 dog hiking trails in the Lancaster area. The most popular dog hiking trail is Cedar Creek Nature Retreat. You can browse all of our dog hiking trails here.
How do I know if a dog hiking trail works for my dog?
Sniffspot provides the tools to find the ideal spot. Start by applying basic filters, such as fencing 6 feet tall and distractions, to find a dog park with trails that works for your dog. You can also filter by size if you are looking for a certain acre park, an expansive off-leash dog park. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our fully fenced dog hiking trails. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our dog hiking trails where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. Since you are looking for trails, make sure to check photos to see if it the spot has flat trails or gnarly trails. You can also browse by specific amenities, if you are looking for a view or a beach, for instance, or other activities or fun features. You can check whether the spot has off or on street parking, the regular park hours, whether it has paved trails or a modern restroom.
What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot dog hiking trail?
In order to hike the trails, we require that all dogs have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not permit dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules.
Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot hiking trail at the same time as me?
Sniffspot only allows one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the spot during visits. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings.
