22+ acre property with 20 acres that is fully/securely fenced. The front half is an open field & orchard, the back is forested and has maintained trails throughout. There's covered seating in the field & woods, portapotty, drinking water station, toys etc - see amenities for more details. There are seasonal streams, ponds in the woods this time of year, plus extra puddles & mud during/after moderate-heavy rain. Foot bridges and woodchips keep the main trails in decent shape for walking but there are plenty of muddy areas to explore so expect a wet, dirty dog - waterproof traction boots (muckboots etc) recommended. There's a dog rinse station (elevated, tethers, sidewalls) for faster cleaning that's easy on the back and keeps clothing drier; bring your own towels. Reservations are available up to 30 days in advance. Some days fill fast but plans can change & bookings get modified/canceled (2+hrs beforehand) - check back for an opening if interested. Thank you for being considerate of our space by reading and abiding by SS and spot specific rules and asking all who accompany you to do the same. First time visitors get an auto-message 2hrs beforehand with helpful info.

WEATHER ALERT: If you are checking the weather online check the Ferndale (98248) weather. The Bellingham weather stops at the Smith Road. My prevailing wind is from the South BUT I do get the cold NE wind from Canada. NOTE: This is an acreage area which formerly held dog events; barn hunt, earth dog, carting, rally, obedience, tracking and nose work. The off leash area was set up for the dogs to have a place to run and play safely away from the other dogs when not working. This is all sandy loam so no standing water even when it rains. There is a water faucet down by the smaller barn (west side). You are welcome to fill your dog's bowls. Just be sure you turn the water off after. I have put some folding chairs just inside the big door of the barn. You are welcome to use them. I have also put a shovel out there so you can fill in any holes your dog digs. It is important you put balls back in the crate, they do not do well under the mower (the mower doesn't like it either. Please fill in any large holes your dog digs, so my mower doesn't bog down in one. if you want a bit more room to run your dogs, you may close the 2 big gates and let your dog run in the "parking area". It is all fully fenced. Be aware, the big gate into the back pasture does have a gap under it. THE BACK PASTURE IS OFF LIMITS THERE IS LIVESTOCK BACK THERE! PLEASE PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOG EVEN IN THE BIG AREA. THANK YOU!!!

The Pacific Northwest Trail, a through-hike trail hundreds of miles long, runs directly through our property via the gravel road and allows you to go on hikes of virtually unlimited duration. Please note that the standing propane heater is NOT for Sniffspot users. Please also keep out of the tiny house - guests are NOT permitted to enter. Any usage or tampering with the heater or tiny house will result in a loss of future booking privileges. Secure fencing, lots of toys and enrichment options for the dogs. Just ensure to communicate with local staff if your dog is aggressive to ensure nobody comes in. We had booked with this information and the volunteers almost came into the area when we were there. They were extremely friendly and it was no issue, but was a bit close. This Sniffspot was fantastic! The first thing I noticed was how clean everything was—especially the toys, which is a huge plus. There was plenty of space for my pup to run around and play fetch, and I really appreciated the thoughtful touches like poop bags and disposal on-site. The sheltered seating area was a lifesaver in the rain, making it a comfortable experience for my kids. Plus, knowing that the money spent on visits goes to a good cause makes it even better. Our dogs had a great time running, playing, and chasing thrown apples. Lots of space for them to zoom and run. Shauna was very responsive to my messages and was happy to put out the puppy pool so our dogs would have easy access to water. There was a gentleman working on the property outside of the fence - our dogs weren't bothered, but other dogs might be. We could also hear dogs barking occasionally at a neighboring property in the distance.

Rooney and I had a lovely time at Shauna’s Sniffspot. It was private, spacious and securely fenced with lots of great smells and room for hide and seek, fetch and recall games. I am a sitter with River and the dogs I was looking after had an excellent time! There was lots of room to run around the fenced yard, a water dish, and a beautiful apple tree. We ventured out onto the property because I was unclear about the boundaries of the sniff spot. The property is very large and there was a dog, luckily she was friendly. If you’re coming here for the first time be aware that the sniff spot is meant to be the fenced yard behind the house with the apple tree.
