Dog park permits are only issued to adults 18 years of age or older. The permit holder must be the person to accompany the dog to the park. Permit holders are required to wear their ID lanyard when in the dog park. ID Lanyard must always be visible while in the park. Photo reproduction of passes will not be accepted. All dog park permits expire at the end of the calendar year (Dec. 31, 2024). Only one dog park permit may be issued per person. Only 3 dogs may be included on a permit. No person can be in the dog park with more than 3 dogs at any time. A dog must be at least 6 months of age to obtain a permit and visit the dog park. All dogs must be registered with the District with a current rabies tag number and expiration date on file. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to notify the District of an updated rabies tag number and expiration date. Dogs must display a current rabies tag while inside the dog park. When visiting the dog park, the permit holder must always stay with their dog. Each dog park has a separate area for small dogs only. A dog must weight 35lbs or less to use the small dog sections. Small dogs may visit the large dog section, but dogs over 35lbs may not visit the small dog section. Alcohol is not allowed in the dog parks. Smoking is not allowed under the dog park shade structures. Permit holders must clean up after their dogs both in the dog park (including tall grass areas) and the preserve in general. This includes any waste as well as water bowls and dog toys. Unhealthy dogs and those in heat are not allowed in the dog parks. Possessing or consuming alcohol is not allowed. Most forest preserves are open daily from one hour after sunrise to one hour after sunset. Anglers 16 or older who are not legally disabled must carry valid Illinois fishing licenses. If they’re fishing for trout they must also have inland trout stamps. All pets must be leashed at all times; leashes cannot be more than 10 feet long. Dogs with valid District permits can use the off-leash areas at Blackwell, East Branch, Greene Valley, Hawk Hollow, Mayslake, Oldfield Oaks, and Springbrook Prairie forest preserves. Motorized vehicles, including all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles and motorcycles, are prohibited off road. Paintball guns, air rifles and pyrotechnics, such as fireworks or rockets, are prohibited. Hunting, trapping or collecting wildlife and removing any natural resource from the preserves are prohibited. Ground fires are not permitted in forest preserve picnic areas. Visitors may bring their own grills and use the on-site hot-coal disposal containers. Visitors are not allowed to dump debris, such as grass clippings, leaves or other landscape materials. Beautiful secluded property with a creek running through it. The backyard is about 1 acre with a big open field surrounded by large mature trees and a creek bordering the back side. Dogs must be trained not to run off as we do not have a fence. Old fence posts show the property lines. You can to take a dip in the creek with your dog to cool off on hot days. The water does flow so I wouldn't recommend it for really small dogs. The water is fairly shallow but can get high and flow fast after heavy rain. You will have to walk down a small hill to enter the creek. The weeds get high by the water but I have made 2 separate paths to enter the creek. Entering the creek is at your own risk. The creek is on the property line so the land across the creek is not part of the property so please do not go across the creek. If you do plan on going in the creek I recommend water shoes and a towel, it can get muddy by the water. And it can also get buggy, so you might want to bring bug spray as well. Feel free to move any of the chairs from the firepit to anywhere around the yard. Please clean up after your pup, garbage can is the green one by the garage. You can park on the left side of driveway by the RV and enter on the left side of the garage.

No females in heat allowed in the Dog Park and no puppies under the age of 6 months. Children under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult and behave appropriately. Children will be expected to behave in an appropriate manner: no running, no chasing dogs, no petting of other dogs unless permission is granted from the owner first. Do not bring rawhide or food into the park as dog fights may result. Be polite: pick up dog feces and dispose of the dog feces in the waste receptacles, which are available throughout the park. Failure to pick up after your dog could result in a $250.00 fine per Glen Ellyn Park District Ordinance 4.02. Fill in any holes your dog(s) digs throughout the dog park. Watch your step. Clean and spacious. We were there early on a Sunday and only heard dogs in the last 10-15 minutes. Nice sturdy chairs to hang out in. Well marked path to the gate. The gate chain is a little difficult to operate one handed with excited dogs on leashes. Will definitely be back with my big guys but probably will leave my escape artist Pomeranian at home.

One of the best sniff spots I’ve been to!!! Absolutely beautiful! Parking was easy, right next to the Sweet Paws Retreat building. Then there are signs directing you back to the gated area. There’s a trash bin for poop back there as well. The fenced in area is top notch!!! Super clean and maintained, and the trees and brush areas were the winner for me! My dogs love to sniff along trails and it was enough for them to do that as well as SO much open area to run, fetch and play tug! Also When I was there around 8am there wasn’t a single other animal around. Such a great spot!!!

This was so AMAZING! We just relocated to Illinois and we are in a temporary corporate apartment while our home is being built. I have a reactive dog and a friendly dog. Both were able to play off leash without disturbance. The space is clean, well kept and free of scat! There are burs in the back brush pile for dogs with longer coats who like to go exploring! This location is fantastic and we will be back again soon!

Very easy to find. Big area for our dogs to run around in. The field was clean and mostly grass. This spot is next to a trail where people walked by , staying on the far side of the field helped avoid our reactive dogs from barking. In the way out we did see one pup outside from the business, he was quiet while we packed up. All of our dogs enjoyed their time here.

My dog loved this spot! We found the area to be as described, clean with chairs to sit and watch your pup run, well maintained fence line that borders a forest preserve, space was private though there’s a path in the forest preserve that comes near the fence where people and other dogs can pass, on our trip we experienced both people and dogs on the path which were not an issue for my reactive pup (he was able to see them but they were far enough away to avoid issues) the entrance to the park is well marked looking forward to returning.

We require that all four-legged friends have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not allow dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules. Make sure to check host rules before visiting to ensure, for instance, that you are following allowable sports activities rules and any special events rules.

Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot field at the same time as me?

No. Facility rentals are for private play time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the area during visits, so this is perfect for a private adventure for you and your doggie friends, and perhaps a human friend. Hosts understand that many guests have dogs in training and are nervous owners. So when you book a Sniffspot dog field you have the entire private spot to yourself. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between time slots so you will not run into other guest dogs or a previous person when coming or leaving in the field parking area. Some hosts may have multiple fields, but there is always a buffer between fields.
