55Our pups had a great time romping up and down the hills at The Balanced Dog trails. Even though there's been plenty of rain, the wide grass trails through field weren't nearly as muddy as we expected. The property was clean and well fenced. The host came out to greet us as we were leaving and we had a pleasant chat. We'll definitely be visiting again!Susan A.

55Wonderful!! Dynamic space that provides lots of options for how to spend your time as well as unexpected extras. This is the closet thing I've found to safe off-leash trail walking with my dog. Love this spot!Rachel S.

55Such a beautiful spot! It can be a bit muddy and slippery but that’s the case in most instances with PNW weather. Once you cross the little stream and blackberry bushes the trails are grass and still wide enough to throw a ball and roll around! Sometimes you can hear dogs but it wasn’t too distracting for my pup. We’ll definitely be back!Ava L.

55This place is so neat! Loki had so much fun running through the trails. At one point, he jumped into a bed of thorns which was fun (sarcasm) to get him out of, but overall I loved it here. It's a really cool idea!Corrine S.

55This is a really sweet spot! I was orienting myself to the location while sitting in my car and checking the map and instructions, and someone came out to let me know that the upper field (the trails) were clear with no one else. I thought that was so thoughtful! The trails were fun (and a workout - it really is a slope ha ha). Definitely slippy in spots, as expected. I was reluctant to throw the ball for my pooch though because the brush was raspberries/blackberries and thick. My pup went straight after a ball that bounced into some briar and ooooof that was hard to watch. He seemed a smidge irritated last night (itchy?) but I couldn’t find any stickers or burrs on him. I am guessing he has some tiny scratches though. So that’s a downside. Some of the fields are low enough brush that you can walk through them, which is fun for exploring. Definitely a lot of sniffs here!! It was a lot of fun for us and my pooch definitely got a workout! Thank you for sharing this sweet spot 😊Sarah P.

55What a fantastic Sniffspot! We especially enjoyed the trails on the hillside, which allowed us to practice trail recall (and us humans enjoyed the hiking too). We’ll definitely be back!Michelle J.

55Amazing place. Lyndsi, the host, is gracious, fun, accommodating, and informative. It has tons of toys and play/training structures for your puppers. The enormous area was great for my 5 huskies to run around. After finishing, she has dry towels to wipe down your dogs. Rafael D.

55Love this spot! Especially the trail portion! It was nice to practice some off leash skills in a trail setting. We did see/hear a training session ( my dog is v dog reactive) but it was ok bc there is a natural barrier. So we also got to work on impulse control in a safe setting which I am thankful for. Will definitely be backtasha j.

55I loved this spot. The trails are well-maintained and visibility is fantastic to keep an eye on the dogs. There is a culvert that my dog tried to run into. Otherwise everything was secure and well fenced. Really appreciated having both trails and a field for the dogs to explore. I would definitely recommend the spot.Jennifer S.

55Great spot. Worth the drive. Was as described. I’ll note, it’s not worded trails like I imagined but still great. Several different paths you can take. Pups were in heaven. My only complaint is that there were thorn bushes everywhere on the paths. Made me nervous with the dogs paws, but they seem to be fine. We will definitely be back! Thanks Lyndsi 💜April C.

55Awesome property! Lots of room to run and play. Owners provided lots of extras. Water bowls, poo bags, balls, towels... even treats for purchase. So nice! I felt very confident and safe in letting my dogs off leash here. Will definitely return. My dogs are tired, happy dogs right now! Thanks for sharing your land with us. Jenae H.

55Such a great spot with tons of training gear and toys! My dogs ran themselves silly on the trails and then did a great agility session in the yard. Muddy, but hey, it’s Oregon, and it’s the season. Absolutely a great pick! Lea H.

55This place is perfect. There's a big yard that's flat and grassy where you can throw a ball. And then there's the huge space next to it with walking trails with so much space to roam and smell. There was secure fencing. We loved it!Nichelle & Mark M.

55My new favorite Sniffspot! This is the best we’ve been to in the area. Fully fenced and groomed to have trails instead of just being a field! My dogs were much more enriched my this and we got our workouts going up and down the hills too! Katie C.

FAQ about our Clackamas dog hiking trails
Are dog hiking trails safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. With a Sniffspot off-leash area all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars. Our hiking trails tend to be outside the city, which lends to more privacy, but it is also important to follow typical hiking safety precautions, such as potentially having trail maps.
How do I know if a dog hiking trail works for my dog?
Sniffspot provides the tools to find the ideal spot. Start by applying basic filters, such as fencing 6 feet tall and distractions, to find a dog park with trails that works for your dog. You can also filter by size if you are looking for a certain acre park, an expansive off-leash dog park. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our fully fenced dog hiking trails. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our dog hiking trails where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. Since you are looking for trails, make sure to check photos to see if it the spot has flat trails or gnarly trails. You can also browse by specific amenities, if you are looking for a view or a beach, for instance, or other activities or fun features. You can check whether the spot has off or on street parking, the regular park hours, whether it has paved trails or a modern restroom.
What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot dog hiking trail?
In order to hike the trails, we require that all dogs have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not permit dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules.
Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot hiking trail at the same time as me?
Sniffspot only allows one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the spot during visits. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings.
