Hound Mound Dog Park

The dog park shall be open every day, except Wednesday, from 7 a.m. until dusk, unless closed due to inclement weather conditions, dangerous conditions, or other maintenance requirements by order of the director of parks and recreation or his designee. The park will be closed every Wednesday for general maintenance. Dogs must display current identification tags in the manner provided by section 6-82, and must be healthy, parasite free, and properly vaccinated, as required by Chapter 6 of this code. If requested by an animal control officer, owners must provide current vaccination and registration information. In the event of dog bite or injury, the owners must exchange current identification tag information, addresses, phone numbers, and any other information that may be helpful in locating the dog(s). If the dog bite involves a human, the incident must be reported immediately in accordance with Texas law by calling the Town Animal Services Division or Town Police Department. No animals other than dogs are permitted in the dog park. No puppies under four months of age are allowed in the dog park. A maximum of two dogs per owner are permitted in the dog park at any one time. Dogs must be leashed when entering or leaving the dog park and off-leash while inside of the dog park. Upon entering the dog park, dogs must be unleashed only after entering the double-gated holding areas, not while inside the off-leash areas of the dog park. The outside gate must remain closed while the inside gate is open. Upon exiting the off-leash area of the dog park, dogs must be leashed inside the double-gated holding areas prior to exiting the dog park. Dog handlers or owners must be at least 14 years of age or older. Children under the age of 14 years are prohibited from entering the dog park without adult supervision. Children are not allowed to run with or chase dogs in the dog park. Only dogs weighing 30 pounds or less are allowed in the area designated for small dogs; however, the remainder of the dog park is open to dogs of all sizes, including dogs weighing 30 pounds or less. Dogs that are aggressive, in heat, sick, or have open wounds are not allowed in the dog park. Owners are required to pick-up and dispose of their dog’s feces both inside and outside of the dog park. No carriages, bicycles, skate boards, scooters, skates, roller blades, sport activities, children’s toys, wading pools, or any motorized vehicles are allowed in the dog park, unless necessary by reason of handicap or disability. No smoking, alcoholic beverages, food, glass containers, or dog treats are allowed in the dog park. Digging is not allowed in the dog park. Owners must repair any damage caused by digging. If the owner fails to repair any damage caused by digging, the Town may assess any damages and costs against the owner as provided in Section 54.33. Dog grooming is not permitted in the dog park. Owners must remain in the park and keep their dog in voice and sight control at all times. Spiked, prong, choke, or pinch collars are not allowed in the dog park. Shoes must be worn at all times in the dog park. Balls and plastic discs are the only toys allowed in the dog park; no other dog toys are allowed. No commercial use of the dog park is allowed, including dog training classes, solicitations and/or advertisements except as provided by section 54-72(e) of this Code. Violators of this article maybe subject to removal and suspension from the dog park, by the Director of Parks and Recreation or his designee, or any animal control officer. Any dog designated, declared, or found to be a “dangerous dog” or “dangerous animal” in accordance chapter 6 of this code, under state law, or under the ordinances of any governmental entity in this state is not allowed in the dog park. All other general park rules and town ordinances must be obeyed while using the dog park.

Bark Park

Bark Park hours are sunrise to sunset daily, unless closed for maintenance or weather. Children less than 42 inches tall are not allowed in the off-leash area. Children 11 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult, who agrees to be solely responsible for the child's proper behavior and safety. Park users and dog owners assume all risk related to the off-leash area and within the dog park. Dog owners are liable for damage or injury inflicted by their dogs. All other general park rules and City Ordinances must be obeyed. Spike or pinch collars are not allowed in the park. Owners must stay within the off-leash area with their dogs and within view and under voice control of their dogs at all times. Puppies under six months are not allowed at the dog park. The small dog area is designated for dogs weighing less than 30 pounds. The large dog area is designated for dogs weighing 30 pounds or more. Visitors to the park must observe a limit of two dogs per person per visit. Female dogs in season are not allowed in the dog park. All dogs must be kept on a leash until inside the double-gated entry. Dogs may be unleashed once they are inside the off-leash area. Owners must immediately clean up and properly dispose of any waste left by their dogs. By bringing a dog into the park, the owner certifies that their dog(s) have been properly inoculated (free of contagious conditions, diseases, parasites, etc.). All dogs must be licensed with the City of Bedford Animal Control or their city of residence and must display a city-issued tag. No food for humans or dogs (including dog treats) is allowed within the dog park. Owners must stop their dog from digging and must fill any holes caused by their dog. No wading pools are allowed. Strollers, carriages, bicycles, skate boards, scooters, skates, roller blades, sport activities, or motorized vehicles (unless used for an assistance device) are not allowed inside the off-leash area. Professional trainers may not use the Bedford dog park to conduct business. Dogs showing aggression toward people or other animals must be removed immediately. No animals other than dogs are allowed in the off-leash area. If a dog bite to a human or other animal should occur, it must be reported to the Bedford Animal Control at 817-952-2191. If after normal business hours contact the Bedford Police Department Dispatch at 817-952-2127. Owners release and discharge the City of Bedford from liability for any injury or damage caused to or by pets during any time while using the park. Violators of the dog park rules and/or city ordinances may be subject to removal from the park and suspension of their park privileges.
