This spot is beautiful!!! We met our host at her Christmas tree farm and followed her to the sniffsppot land (about 10 min drive into the mountains from her home).
We parked at the entrance to the land off the main road. We kept pup on leash till we passed the neighbor's fence (no issues, we could not see/ hear anything). The logging land is at the edge of the national park, you are really on your own, and I had no worries letting our pup run free. The side trails loop into each other, off the main trail. The trails/ roads can be followed very easily, once we could not go further (or reached a heavy wooded area) we just turned around and found a new trail. Do bring sturdy shoes, there are rocks and some fallen branches. Our pup loved the creek and the upper meadow. Next time will bring picnic blanket. Overall well worth it, we spent about 2.5 hours there. "Lilla K.

55We had a lot of fun here. Barb was really nice and she gave us a small map so we knew where we could explore. We went up the main trail and had a snack at the top. Then we went to where the conifers were and played hide & seek. After that we checked out some of the other trails. My dog drank from the creek every time we passed it. We saw lots of wildflowers, butterflies, a deer, and we listened to the birds. My dog’s nose never left the ground and now he is exausted. We ended up exiting from a different trail and walked down the main road to get back to our car. We booked for two hours but only stayed for about 1.5. We would have explored more but my dog was exhausted and it was getting hot out.Dorothy C.

55This Sniff Spot is sooo great! It was really uphill but a great place to hike trails off leash and we had no problems with other dogs, people, and other animals. Will definitely be visiting this gem again!!! If you book this you would probably want like half the day because a couple hours is not enough.Jadyn H.

55Wow! This place is absolutely incredible!! Terry is very pleasant and a very welcoming host. He provided a map which I was really happy to have....there is a lot of ground to cover here! He is very knowledgeable about the property and did make sure we knew about the surrounding properties. I appreciated him letting me know about a neighbor with a dog so I could keep Cooper leashed in this area or choose to avoid it altogether. I thought we might have booked too much time (3 hours) but it ended up not being enough! This is a gorgeous, peaceful place with nice trails and a variety of terrain to explore. Cooper had the best time!! We are already planning another visit. Thank you Terry!Susan D.

55Great spot, easy to find and lots of trails. My Doberman and I loved it but my Dane tired easily, he’s older and coming off a long recovery from a paw injury and the ground was pretty rocky on some of the trails. Didn’t see any other people Or animals but could hear the neighbors at times.Susan G.

55It was absolutely beautiful! Quite a nice little hike even with roads that elevated and then side roads that cut across. I found the entrance pretty easily as well thanks to the ribbons. The paths were nice although I came across a lot of thorny vines! I wasn’t watching where my feet went most of the time so I got quite torn up. I suggest wearing long pants and socks for this property as well as sneakers with good tread or hiking boots. There are creeks throughout the property so I didn’t need to bring any water. I saw an eagle and a hawk, a blue jay, a woodpecker, and a baby gardner snake which was really cool! My pup and I loved this area since there was plenty of room to run! I also found many types of mushrooms including a few that are edible! I’ll definitely be back again ❤️😊Emily C.

55Second visit to wild timber land, this place is magical. Barbara has a cool sign at the entrance and maps in a plastic bag. We parked at the entrance and hiked in. This is basically 100 acres of wild forest - as the title would suggest. There are huge trees, trails, creeks and meadows. We walked up to a meadow with a view and did yoga on the soft moss. Then we explored and looked for flowers as well as walking through some recent growth. We booked two hours and wouldn’t want to book any less time. The dogs exhausted themselves sniffing and exploring. We didn’t see any people or dogs. We heard some dogs on the distance and we saw some cows in a pasture visible from one trail. It was rejuvenating for us and our dogs!David A.

55We spent a fun 2 hours in this mostly wooded hillside. The dogs had a great time running on the woods roads and, best of all, playing in the little streams. We neither saw nor heard any other people of dogs. Be prepared for some uphill walking and natural hazards (blackberry brambles, steep embankments going down to the stream in some areas- I had to go down in one area to help our enthusiastic senior dog get back up to the trail, etc.). Some wire fencing and barbed wire to watch out for. I found the map a bit baffling and would have enjoyed having a clearer idea of the layout.... but we had no problem exploring and finding our way back to the car. Give yourself at least 2 hours to explore and play in the streams, if you have water lovers. It was a 2 hour drive each way for us, which is the only thing that will keep it from becoming a frequent spot for us to visit, but we look forward to returning occasionally in various seasons.Kate S.

55Amazing location! Very secluded, perfect place to bring a reactive dog. I was there 3 hours and only explored a very small section, can't wait to book another reservation here. My dogs are tired and I am happy to have a new place I can bring my reactive dog to!Jessica K.

55Great woods, we chose the hottest day of the year to go and it was still nice. Lots of short trails that link up and some that don't, we ended up bushwhacking through blackberry brambles at one point. Water running through a creek with a small pool that our dog found and loved! Overall great, we'll come back when it's cooler.Megan L.

55Another great visit. We parked at the entrance (in our case we had to drive past where google maps said the entrance was, but there is a big sniffspot sign on a tree), then hiked up the hill. The trees are so beautiful, there were many sticks for soba and smells for Toshii. We did yoga and meditation at the high clearing then hiked around through the new forest for a while. There is a nice running stream for the dogs and it’s mainly shade in the forest. It is so relaxing and tranquil. We didn’t see any dogs or cows but we know the neighbors have both. We booked two hours and could have stayed longer. We’ll be back regularly!David A.

55Sky had a blast. Such a nice pawperty! So much to snerf. Considering the weather was super wet, we managed to stay fairly... Not soaked... over the 3 hours we were there. Cool little trails. The stream provided a really reliable water source given all the running up and down the hills. Sky got back in the car and just snored al the way to i5. Mission accomplished. The exact entrance was a bit further than the GPS instructions. It's hard to miss tho given the giant 'Sniffspot' sign. I didn't take pics considering the dryest place was inside the car. My Garmin mini worked at first to announce arrival but failed me upon departure. Reception is super sketchy but being unplugged in 2020 feels great! Totally recommended. Ines D.

55This sniffspot was GREAT! The directions are easy to get to. There is a map at the beginning that is helpful for figuring out the land. And they leave their cell number for questions and to let them know you made it back to service! (Oh yeah, no cell service on the land, which is pretty nice!)
There is one house near the beginning with a fence with wide spaces, we didn't see any animals at the house, but it is noted they have them so if that is hard for your dog just stay on leash till you pass or turn before. We had so much fun exploring! There are trails that make it just like hiking but also a wide-open road that fun to go on and you can see the whole way. The road leads to a wide-open space which would be great for a sunny day to just hang out at. We did run into a creek that made it hard to pass and I got a little confused about the boundaries but I'm sure that's less of a problem when its less rainy.
I would say a recall is very important for this place! There are many places the dog can run off to and it is not fenced. If you don't trust your dogs recall use a long line or keep them on leash.
We spent 2 hours here and could definitely spend so much more time exploring, we will definitely be back!

55Had a great time with Choo & Sky. Rainy days are the best. Many snerfs were snerfed. Lots of mud was tracked and jumped into. The stream wasn't as high as I thought it would be which made it a breeze to cross. Sky was in stick heaven. Choo might have seen a baby Sasquatch but the gunshots from nearby stopped any further investigation. Sky was too busy eating forest noms and barreling through mud to be phased by those fun sounds.

55We had so much fun! It could be a bit steep for people with bad joints I can see but we had no problem walking up and down in regular walking shoes the entire time. We even crossed little water stream as well. My dog is now tired and is ready for an afternoon nap! Emily Y.

55My dog had a lovely time here exploring the trails. We were here for almost 4 hours and I don't think we saw it all. Really special to have a place so large all to ourselves. One note for those who may have dogs sensitive to loud noises, we could here some fairly close rifle shooting nearby, so if your dog is spooked by such things Annie K.

FAQ about our Morton dog parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 97% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Morton area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 153 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 14 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
