Our farm is located on 100 acres of beautifully scenic property and we have opened 26 acres of that space for you to explore. Our property is on predominantly flat elevation with trails, multiple fields and roughly 7 acres of forest. While the forest can be dense in spots, it is very walkable and presents a lovely spot to hike through. We have 5 ponds as well as a stream that runs the width of our property and travels through the forest. We have a myriad of wildlife that you may see or encounter during your adventures here. These could include (but are not limited to) great blue herons, muskrats, rabbits, geese, ducks, deer and coyotes. We do have livestock and a guardian dog on the property (they are fully fenced) as well as family pets so please respect their space and ensure your dogs are leashed anytime you are nearing the barn, paddock or barnyard areas.

We have a fire pit with seating in one of the grass acres. There are no longer Alpacas and goats here as they’ve moved to the farm down the road. But you will come across Canadian Geese and Wild Turkeys, and sometimes Deer. As you drive by the red barn to the parking area you will sometimes see our dog friendly dog Butch in his gated area most likely sleeping! 😄 Once you reach your parking it is private and you are alone.

About 65 acres is walkable and we have trails throughout. We are learning as we go, and hope to provide you and your dogs a fun day. If you have any question feel free to ask. And remember, we love dogs just as much as you do. There are a few important points we'd like you to consider. We like to meet our new guests for the first time. This gives us a chance to get to know you better and also put friendly faces to us, the hosts. We want you to feel welcome and know that we care about your dogs. We have several trails that split out to other trails. There will be signs to help you navigate through them, and some suggestions that will help you keep track of remaining time. In the colder months, running water will not be provided. We will also reserve the right to cancel the appointment if we get heavy snow squalls. Our plan is to keep the trails plowed, but in the event of a snow storm, it may take us a few days to get the trails plowed. In general, we will not be open past dusk, unless you specifically ask us and are aware of the risks of walking in the dark. I always walk my dogs on winter nights. Just carry some sort of flashlight. We currently have an electric gate that can only be opened by us at the gate, and not remotely. When a guest arrives, we will be there to open the gate for you, close it once you're in, and open it again upon your departure. Lastly a note about safety. Safety is important to us, but please note that you are entering nature. Our spot is home to many small animals, including porcupines. If your dogs are into porcupines, I would stay cautious of your pets entering the dense bush and recommend they stick to the trails instead. The probability of spotting a porcupine though is very low. Other animals will simply not bother human visitors and their dog companions. You may spot a deer or two if you're lucky that day. Deer are mostly friendly, but I would suggest keeping your distance if you spot a buck. However, they typically flee when they spot you. In all my years spotting buck, I've never seen one charge at anyone. Still, be safe. Although very rare, you many spot a coyote. Once again, they generally don't bother humans. If you spot one, keep your dogs close. Coyotes don't like confrontations with humans, so your dogs will be safe if by your side.

This is it!! One of the biggest and closest spots to the GTA. Everything in one place. First, we have a fully fenced dog park with some play structures, shelter, and a picnic table. Then our unfenced site consisting of 60 acres of fields, ponds, and trails. You may use either site during your visit. Trails are more like hiking in the woods and not suited for bikes or any other equipment. Large pond where your dogs would love to swim for hours. You can park your vehicle near the pond. Sorry for safety reasons the Paddle boats are not for public use. Rubber boots are recommended in spring, winter, or rainy days. Trails get muddy when wet. Guests, please, pick up after your dogs. Drop trash in the big metal bin on the way out. Enjoy the tree swings, muskoka chairs, and solitude. Do not go on the trails past the pond. They do not belong to this spot, and other dogs and people could be present.

On our 26 acre hobby farm, we have a 6 acre fully fenced farm field/dog park. Ride up and park at the white barn, and walk your leashed puppers to the field past our gardens, woodlots, and ponds. From the barn to the dog park you will get familiar with our surroundings and other fences. There is access to the forest and two ponds on the property. Crossing through the tree line, you have private access to the 6-acre field. Four-foot tall fencing is installed for your security. The best time to come is May to September. Come walk between the sunflower rows that grow up to 10 feet tall in the late summer! We cut the field between the sunflowers, make trails and play spots. We also leave big areas untouched for our honeybees (hives located in the other field). Enjoy seeing natural landscapes, trees, and privacy. Have fun, play catch and let your animal have unleashed freedom! We have uploaded a printable "safety map" for each season, that contains a legend for your use. Note the fire pit is not available during the winter season. Park has one main gate. This season we will also be placing picnic tables with a BBQ for large groups. I recommend booking the summer weekends in advance as they will fill up fast! Fencing Details: The 6-acre Dog Park Field is permanently fenced with approximately 2,500 linear feet of 4’ tall farm fence. The farm fence consists of professionally installed 2” by 4” squares of wire mesh (commonly used for smaller livestock such as sheep, donkey, cows, etc) and cedar posts. If you look at the photos you can see the locations of the gate on the main photo or on “safety map” (see photos and captions). We have more fencing on other parts of the property outside of our dog park in case your dog does not have good recall. Refer to the safety map (see photos). ***Charges are in USD*** We at BHS understand that letting your dog run and play is so important! But some dogs aren't suitable for dog parks or social areas. Our private, fully fenced half acre yard is the perfect place to let your (reactive or otherwise) dog just be a dog and get some freedom! Please check in at the front desk to get the key to the yard, and clean up after yourself. There are water bowls in the yard, but please bring your own water. There are trees providing shady areas throughout the day. If bringing back the key when we are not open, please put it in the Mailbox, located beside our Front Doors. When we are open, our receptionists will gladly take the key back from you! All the fees go directly to the animals in our case, and we are a registered charity and no-kill shelter.
