Lathrop Dog Park

The City of Lathrop reserves the right to change these rules at any time. Dog owners/guardians must accept responsibility for themselves, their children/guests and their dog(s) while in the park. Owners are legally responsible for any damage, injury, or illness their dog(s) may cause to themselves, other dogs, other people or yourselves. Owners must carry a leash at all times. Please leash and unleash your dog inside the double-gated holding area. Never carry your dog into the park. Never open more than one gate at a time. If an owner and his/her dog(s) are in the holding area, stand outside and wait for him/her to enter or exit. Dogs must wear a collar with identification at all times, be licensed and vaccinated, be healthy (have no contagious diseases), and be parasite-free. Dogs showing aggression towards people or other animals must be immediately removed from the park by the owners/guardians. If you feel that you or your dog is in danger, simply leave the park and come back another day. Owners are not to leave their dog(s) unattended or allow their dog(s) to be out of sight. Minor children must be accompanied by an adult. Parents should refrain from bringing toddlers or small children into the park, unless they are willing to keep the children out of harm’s way, totally under control, and accept full responsibility for their safety. Please remember this is a dog park and not a playground for children. If your children create problems for owners and their dogs, you may be asked by other participants to leave the dog park for safety’s sake. Children should not run with the dogs or chase them while in the park. Puppies under four months of age are prohibited, as they are not yet protected from disease. Owners must clean up after their dogs. The number of dogs per person is limited to three (3). Dogs in heat will not be allowed inside the park. No wolves or wolf hybrids allowed. Toys or food can be a source of confrontation between dogs. Please don’t bring them if other dogs are present. Smokers must not throw cigarette butts on the ground. Do not bring glass containers into the park. Alcohol is prohibited in accordance with LMC, Section 12.20.010U. Watering receptacles should be provided by owners/guardians. Potable water provided by dog park. VIOLATORS WILL BE SUBJECT TO REMOVAL FROM THE PARK AND SUSPENSION OF PARK PRIVILEGES. Headshot2Christina Jaromay, Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director Christina has been with the City of Lodi since June 2021. She started her parks career 13 years ago at California State Parks, overseeing programs such as concessions, nonprofit associations, corporate sponsorships, volunteers in parks and friends-groups which generated over $100M collectively in revenue and in-kind services annually. She has a passion for parks and since her first day has advocated for Lodi’s facilities, staff and resources. Christina’s advocacy for the parks department has resulted in over $12M in general fund surplus funding for deferred maintenance and capital projects, two new full-time maintenance workers, vehicles and equipment. Under her direction, the department received a $654K grant which prioritizes access to underserved communities and provides youth free outdoor educational activities and excursions. Appointed by Governor Newsom in 2022, Christina serves on the California State Park and Recreation Commission. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Applied Ethics and Law with a minor in Business Administration from CSU, Sacramento. Christina believes that parks and recreation do make life better for Lodi’s residents, “I love to see the crowds of people attend our special events celebrating community, see children playing sports or learning a new skill and I love that we provide access to open spaces, encourage active lifestyles and strengthen Lodi’s economy!”

Brannan Island State Recreation Area

The Department of Parks and Recreation has established rules and regulations to protect park areas for the enjoyment of future generations as well as for the convenience and safety of the park visitors. To ensure your visit is a pleasant one, please observe the following: NATURAL SCENERY, PLANTS AND ANIMAL LIFE are the principal attractions of most state parks. They are integral parts of the ecosystem and natural community. As such they are protected by Federal, State and Park laws. Disturbance or destruction of these resources is strictly forbidden. LOADED FIREARMS AND HUNTING are not allowed in units of the State Parks System. Possession of loaded firearms or air rifles is prohibited. Exceptions are for hunting in recreation areas that have been designated by the State Park and Recreation Commission. DEAD AND DOWN WOOD is part of the natural condition. Decayed vegetation forms humus and assists the growth of trees and other plants. For this reason the gathering of down wood is prohibited. Fuel is sold in the parks for your convenience. (When considered a hazard, down wood is removed by park personnel.) FIRES are permitted only in facilities provided for this purpose. This is necessary to prevent disastrous fires. Portable stoves may be used in designated areas. It is the responsibility of every visitor to use extreme caution with any burning materials, including tobacco. All fireworks are prohibited. ANIMALS, including cats, can not be turned loose in park units. All animals, other than grazing animals, must be under immediate physical control. Dogs must be on a tended leash no more than 6 feet or confined in an enclosed vehicle, tent or pen. Unless posted to the contrary, dogs, other than those that assist the permanently disabled, are prohibited on trails, beaches, and wherever posted. Visitors with vicious, dangerous, noisy, or disturbing animals will be ejected from park units. NOISE - ENGINE DRIVEN ELECTRIC GENERATORS which can disturb others, may be operated only between the hours 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Loud disturbing noise is prohibited at all times, and is disturbing those asleep between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. ALL VEHICLE TRAVEL must be confined to designated roads or areas. The speed for all vehicles is 15 miles per hour in camp, picnic, utility or headquarters areas and areas of general assemblage. Parking is permitted only in designated areas. Blocking parking spaces is prohibited. CAMPSITE USE must be paid for in advance. To hold a campsite, it must be reserved or occupied. To prevent encroachment on others the limits of each campsite may be regulated by the District Superintendent. Checkout time is 12:00 NOON. In order to provide for the greatest number of visitors possible the CAMPING LIMIT in any one campground is 30 days per calendar year. REFUSE, including garbage, cigarettes, paper boxes, bottles, ashes and other rubbish, shall be placed only in designated receptacles. Your pleasure and pride in your parks will be enhanced when they are kept clean. SMOKING: Smoking is not permitted in State Parks, except on paved roadways or parking facilities. On January 1, 2020, the law associated with Senate Bill 8 went into effect. As of that date, pursuant to Public Resources Code 5008.10 states that “A person shall not smoke on a state beach or in a unit of the state park system. This prohibition does not apply to paved roadways or parking facilities of a state beach or unit of the state park system.” DRONES: Drones are currently allowed in State Parks, State Beaches, State Historic Parks, State Recreational Areas, and State Vehicular Recreation Areas except where prohibited by a District Superintendent’s posted order. Posted orders may prohibit drones for numerous reasons, including: protection of threatened species; threats to cultural and natural resources; high fire danger; public safety; recreational conflicts; impacts upon visitor experience privacy; and park unit classification. Therefore, drone users should always check with their local State Park District for any specific posted orders.

Park hours: Park hours are from sunrise to one hour after sunset. There is a new gate; it will close one hour after sunset and repoen at sunrise.
