Nature in the City is a unique Private Dog Park that is 1 1/2 acres of beautiful natural land with varied landscapes. Step out of the city and into our natural setting that features different areas including 2 grassy fields perfect for fetch w/discs, ropes, or toys, (balls are not best here due to all of the surrounding bushes), a couple of forested areas, several nature trails for hiking adventures, and a wetland-like area with a healthy little creek that’s a hit with the pups. They can wade, cool off, and drink from the natural water. Your dogs will have so many different sniffing and secure off-leash exploring opportunities here! Our spot is so much more than just a fenced field! The area is diverse and so much fun for your dog(s)! This is a great spot to work on recall. There are a couple areas on the trails that are a little steep, there’s a trail where you have to walk over logs 🪵, and the little creek has to be stepped over in places, so people with limited mobility may have issues in these areas of the spot. There are two bridges over the creek, and we will be adding one more bridge at the far west end of the spot soon. There are plenty of spaces and trails that are suitable for all abilities. If you’re looking for a basic fenced field to play chuck-it then this probably isn’t your spot. We are continually working on our property, so every time you visit you will see improvements! We provide a rain/sun shelter with 4 foldable chairs (message us in advance if you need more chairs and we’ll put them out for you), and lots of supplies including dog toys & balls, poop bags, hand sanitizer, natural bug spray, sunscreen, wipes, hand towels, first aid kit, and a cornhole yard game. We also provide snacks and beverages for humans and doggos! Located outside are 2 zero-gravity reclining chairs, a kids size picnic table, a round metal table w/umbrella & 4 metal chairs, and fresh drinking water for your pups. There are open areas with sun ☀️, and there is shade all day due to many large trees. Our property is VERY secure with 5 to 6 ft fencing. We walk the fence line regularly and check to make sure it’s secure. We are located close-in on the Westside of Vancouver one mile from I-5 on 78th Street in West Hazel Dell near Felida. *It gets muddy in areas when it has been wet/raining outside. We have wood chips along trails and in muddy areas which help a lot! Come prepared so you enjoy your visit. **We recently added 6 solar flood lights in the main field area for those of you who visit after dark. They provide subtle light at the entryway, main field, and the shelter for about 4-5 hrs after it gets dark outside. If you you want to explore the trails after dark we recommend putting a collar light on your dog(s), and that you bring headlamps and flashlights 🔦. ***We recently added a small bridge over the middle section of the creek! This is such a beautiful property, and Rick & Lynn are incredibly gracious hosts. We were amazed at just how large this sniffspot was when we arrived — an hour felt like barely enough to take advantage of all the space! Even though it’s mostly an open area, all the trees and plants growing along the fence line provided ample opportunity for our dog to explore and sniff, and she loved having so much space to run. Most importantly, our dog has a lot of reactivity issues… Rick and Lynn were so patient and understanding with her, which any reactive dog owner knows, means the world. They are clearly very dog-savvy people and I would feel totally comfortable bringing our girl back to this spot. Very grateful for the opportunity to visit, and we hope to be back soon!

I really, really liked this spot! Upon arrival, Rick met with me to help me get the lay of the land. He was very friendly and courteous and walked me through the amenities available. The property itself was perfect for my needs. The space felt very safe and I didn't have to worry at all about my dogs escaping. I went on a rainy day and there was a patio umbrella set up, which I didn't use because the big Douglas firs made the perfect canopy to keep dry. There is a horse on the property (behind a fence) that is completely unbothered by big barking dogs, I was told. My dogs were mildly interested in the beginning, but then found other things to do. Overall, I can highly recommend this SniffSpot! I plan to come back regularly. Thanks for letting us use your beautiful property, Rick!
