55John and Stephanie provided us with a warm welcome and showed us their property with open arms. John walked us through this beautiful property and guided us to the various trails and bridges that were clearly marked in the property. We were also introduced to the goats, chickens, rabbits and cows. :) The biodegradable poop bags and a place to dispose them was a bonus which we really appreciated. The details on the property and the care that has been given (including the cabin that is under construction) was exceptional. Playing in the creek after the muddy hike was a great way to get our pooch tired and cleaned up ! We will be sure to return again! Thank you !Lavanya M.

55Despite our two dogs being very energetic and predatory towards the goats and chickens, John and Stephanie were understanding and welcoming. John toured us through his property so we knew the lay of the land and of we went. Our two dogs loved, loved, loved their time as did my husband and I. So worth the (very pretty) drive and the money. Thank you again, John and Stephanie, for opening your property to us and others! We will be back!Kassi S.

55Love the hosts, the animals, trails, and especially the creek! It is such a great spot for our pup to swim safely. She loves to explore all the trails and then we always finish with a good, stick fetching session in the creek. Wish we could go every day! Merina H.

55Oh my gosh, this place is awesome!!! Such a beautiful farm and so many things to explore. John and/or Stephanie will greet you and walk you through the pasture which is a super cute collection of happy animals. The first few times we were here I was so nervous about Cooper's reaction to the animals but he's all but oblivious to them. I never get over how easily he strolls through and it's been really good for him. He's honestly become a different dog over the last year of exposure to different animals and is now even making doggy friends. We owe much of that to this place specifically. Once you get across the pasture, you'll go through a gate to the Sniffspot. The first section is a grassy area with a creek running through it. There are some chairs for the humans and, if you have compostable poop bags, there is an underground poop compost. Cooper usually runs around here and splashes around in the creek for awhile and then we cross the bridge to the woods. John and Stephanie are always working on the Sniffspot and it seems we find something new every visit. New signs or sometimes even a whole new trail. We love wandering around here and hiking the trails. Cooper knows when there's something different right away and gets super excited to show me his new discovery. Really lovely spot. We always reserve 2 hours and it's barely enough. In the car on the way home we are already anxious for our next trip back. Thank you so much John & Stephanie...you guys are the best. ♥Susan D.

Really enjoy wandering the trails....I can totally unwind in the peacefulness of the woods while Cooper is running amuck finding new paths. The creek is a real bonus in warm weather....clean, clear water and just the right size for an occasional dip. 55After searching for areas close to my home I decided to take a shot at this place even though its not "in the neighborhood". I'm sure glad I did and the drive there was as beautiful as the place itself. I can't imagine a better place for my boys to go. It has everything. So much property for them to explore with woods, fields and streams. The owners has a done a beautiful job of maintaining this and making it a wonderful spot for your pets as well as for the pet owner. Nice maintained paths and wooden bridges to go over all the little streams. One stream large enough for your pet to splash through. The owners have even placed seating throughout the area. This whole area was beautiful and peaceful and the pets just loved exploring. If you have spare time....book a couple hours and pack a picnic...its that great. The hosts are very nice, helpful, and attentive. I'm going to try my best to make this a weekly outing for me and my boys. Book it, you won't regret it!!Linda G.

55This is nearly the perfect Sniff Spot for what my dogs enjoy! There is a large grassy area when you first enter the Sniff Spot which is partially shaded and level allowing for the pups to chase their ball or just relax in the soft grass. From the grassy area, you'll cross a bridge over a creek where the dogs enjoyed splashing around and cooling down on a hot day. Beyond that, there are numerous well maintained trails leading through the forested area and back down to another creek area. The area is not entirely fenced so you'll want to keep an eye on your dogs. We all got a lot of exercise from running up the trails and appreciated that there were several spots where we could just sit and relax when we needed a break. John and Stephanie were such wonderful hosts and welcomed us as friends. We drove over an hour from Seattle to get there but it was well worth the drive and will definitely plan on coming back here. I advise good footwear that you won't mind getting wet. Jill C.

55This was my second trip there and I already have a 3rd planned. The owners of this property are so nice and friendly and honestly will do everything the can to make your visit enjoying. I was still amazed at this place with the well maintained trails. We even discovered a couple new ones. It actually looks like the owners may be working on a couple more just to make the adventure more interesting for the pups to explore.
Having a couple open fields make it great for you to play with your dogs, or in my case since they are older dogs I can run with them back and forth to get their (and my) exercise. Didn't bring a toy? .....believe me...the one pup had no problem finding sticks that you can toss around and even into the creek for a "splash through the creek when they retrieve it. The creeks are awesome little spots throughout where the dogs can dip in and get a nice cool drink.
The owners have made a great little bench that can fold down to alittle picnic table if you wanted to have a nice little picnic as well. There is shaded and sunny areas. You have the place to yourself with no other dogs or people around. The drive out to this nice farm is beautiful as well.
You just can't go wrong with this place, and I can't wait to go back. Its a wonderful experience for both you and your pets.
Thank you owners Stephanie and John!!Linda G.

55Visited this farm as our very first Sniff Spot this weekend - and it’s goin to be a tough act to follow! Beautiful property, friendly hosts, lots of open and wooded spaces, and even charming farm animals. My dogs had a blast. Our pup hadn’t yet had any opportunities to explore big open spaces, winding trails, and spring creeks off leash - and she thoroughly exhausted herself. We’ll definitely be back, and probably book two hours next time!Polly O.

FAQ about our Lakewood dog hiking trails
Are dog hiking trails safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. With a Sniffspot off-leash area all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars. Our hiking trails tend to be outside the city, which lends to more privacy, but it is also important to follow typical hiking safety precautions, such as potentially having trail maps.
How do I know if a dog hiking trail works for my dog?
Sniffspot provides the tools to find the ideal spot. Start by applying basic filters, such as fencing 6 feet tall and distractions, to find a dog park with trails that works for your dog. You can also filter by size if you are looking for a certain acre park, an expansive off-leash dog park. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our fully fenced dog hiking trails. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our dog hiking trails where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. Since you are looking for trails, make sure to check photos to see if it the spot has flat trails or gnarly trails. You can also browse by specific amenities, if you are looking for a view or a beach, for instance, or other activities or fun features. You can check whether the spot has off or on street parking, the regular park hours, whether it has paved trails or a modern restroom.
What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot dog hiking trail?
In order to hike the trails, we require that all dogs have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not permit dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules.
Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot hiking trail at the same time as me?
Sniffspot only allows one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the spot during visits. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings.
