Rainy season update: we will continue to be open throughout the winter, even with all the rain. It is going to be muddy, but hopefully not too bad. To cut down on the mud, we won't be taking the tractor in to fill holes, so please watch your step when walking around. Close to downtown Corvallis, come let your dog run free and just be a dog for a little while. Our newly fenced in area is a work in progress and we will be adding more things to do for pups and their humans. The pastures are cross-fenced, allowing for room to explore but not too far. An indoor riding arena is available as an add-on. It is enclosed on three sides, keeping the wind and weather out during playtime. It is well-lit for evening use. Horses offer additional entertainment but are always a safe distance with a large space (enough to drive a large truck through) between fence lines. The animals are not reactive to the dogs even when barking at them. The farm animals don't respond to the dogs, so often the dogs move on to exploring the space. We have some simple agility items in the space along with balls and other toys to help entertain both you and your dogs. As a guest, you have access to: * Fully Fenced Acre of play space for off-leash adventures * Water - Lift the green handle to start the flow of water * Poop baggies * White garbage can * Dog towels, clean ones in the clear container, and dirty ones go into the grey tote. We ask you to use 1 towel per visit if possible. * Porta Potty * Shelter with chairs and a small table you can put anywhere in the field during your visit we just ask that you put them back when you are done. * During the summer days we include a doggie pool. They are blue kiddie pools. Double them up when you use them so they are easier to empty and less likely to break. Please dump the pool and return it to the corner when you are finished. IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: This is a field that has uneven ground including mole and gopher holes. Please watch your step. Please keep within the Sniffspot area. If you happen to throw a ball over a fence just message me and I can retrieve it for you. It is important to stay outside of areas marked private property. As winter approaches and post- icepocolyps logging winds down, I would like to test a pricing option. For the winter months, at least, I am going to offer sliding scale discounts. The guest can choose their pay rate for sanctuary use based on their moment-to-moment economic status. Discounts are as follows: $2 off (JMSS2); $4 off (JMSS4); $6 off (JMSS6). Just as a reminder, or for new inquiries, the effort and cost to recover/rebuild Jasper Memorial Sanctuary was extensive and expensive. Material costs were over $5000. Labor costs, had I hired all the hours worked, are over $15,000. The price increase for utilizing the Sanctuary is small in comparison to the expenses incurred from the loss (0.1%). Thank you to all my amazing guests who have given your dog(s) opportunity to find their calm within by visiting Jasper Memorial Sanctuary. It is amazing to see your dogs and you finding your inner peace. Thank you too for following all of the rules to keep this SS sustainable into the future. The fee set is the amount needed to allow me to keep this site open and provide improvements when needed. (I understand other sites charge less, but I've learned charging less is not financially sustainable. Hosts do not earn what they charge). I love hosting new and returning guests. Jasper Memorial Sanctuary, named in memory of my soul dog Jasper, is no larger than 1.3 acres in and fully fenced. The acreage is a combination of mid-age dense timber, new reforestation, devastation zone and open grass. The area is flanked on two sides by driveway. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝘀. Be respectful of wildlife. Deer and turkey roam the property and consider the space their home. If there are wild animals in the sanctuary enclosure upon your arrival, please keep your dog(s) on leash until the other animals have vacated the area. Under no circumstance are dogs allowed to chase wildlife. Domestic and rescued animals that live on the property include horses, donkeys, geese and chickens. 𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝘀 and do not approach any of these animals. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 is about 50' away from the entrance gate. Please keep dog(s) on leash until within the fenced enclosure. 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗩𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 - If you have reason to have more than two vehicles for your visit, please contact me prior to reserving for pre-approval. If approved, there will be an "Extra" fee to add to your reservation. Please select the appropriate "Extra" for the number of vehicles approved. If you loved your visit, please share your experience with family and friends! **Interesting ecological fact if you see rainbow coloring on top of some of the standing water… it is NOT from chemicals or an oil slick. Here’s the explanation. 🙂 A common naturally occurring oily sheen originates from the seed cones of cypress trees. The cones usually fall into the water below the cypress, and an obvious rainbow sheen forms on the surface around the seed pod. In puddles of woodlands or around the edges of stagnant or very slowly moving water, it is common to find sheens covering the water in and about leaves and other vegetation. It is tempting to wonder what form of pollution resulted in the sheens, but the answer is microscopic - and natural. Tiny iron-loving bacteria of many types may be involved. A common tale is that some species of bacteria that live in areas with no oxygen (anaerobic conditions) get their energy by converting Ferric Iron (Fe III) to Ferrous Iron (Fe II) (chemists call this process reduction). As the Ferrous Iron moves through the ground water, it encounters water with oxygen, chemically fuses with the oxygen (chemists call this oxidation), then precipitates (separates from the water) and floats on the surface as a colorful sheen. There are species of bacteria that may help accelerate the oxidation process, and the most common is Theobacillis ferroxidans. At times, a significant area of the water’s surface may be covered and the sheen is as reflective as a mirror, having little rainbow-effect.

There is a small outdoor kennel if you need a place to temporarily separate your dogs, for example for training purposes to work with one dog at a time. Please do not leave dogs unattended in this space - It is for very temporary housing with you on the premises. The yard has an l shape which can allow you to go out of sight of your dog for training purposes. Downsides: Access is currently via a somewhat narrow/awkward path. There is a large brush pile in the backyard currently. One neighbor has dogs that like to fence fight. They aren't out all of the time and the neighbors will usually call them away when they start barking.

This place is amazing, probably even too big for my 2 tiny pups. The bags and water are a convenient plus. One thing to keep in mind: wear long sleeves, pants and a LOT of mosquito repellent if you’re going past 8pm, the mosquitoes will show you no mercy.

Loved getting my insecure reactive dog out of the house. The area is well fenced, gate is secure, poop bags and the coldest water available. It’s farmland so if your dogs paws are sensitive just watch for uneasiness. There are a lot of gopher holes ? Dog did not have any issues avoiding and sniffing. Great place .

My dogs enjoyed running around the field and exploring a new place. The faces are sturdy, and I love the gate that allows you to open it both ways. The field was clean. The sitting area under the shade for the human folks was nice as well.

This spot is great! Away from busy streets and surrounding neighbors. My Husky and Golden Retriever loved exploring this space. The fence is very secure and the trees in the fenced space offer good shade/ more things to explore!

My dog absolutely loved this place! Lots of room to run and dirt to roll around in!! As all wild fields go there were some thorny branches here and there but nothing too hard to avoid. There was also a big bucket of fresh water that was thoroughly enjoyed.

Awesome open space. Fairly rough field with some blackberry runners that made it a little harder for my small dog to comfortably run at full speed - but a great spot to practice their recall and do perimeter walks. Overall a clean, safe spot with fresh water available.

This is a nice fenced area to run around in, lots of holes to sniff, some trees to explore. There is a small seating area which has a pop up cover over it for shade/rain and there is water provided as well as poop bags and a trash can. There were a couple of tennis balls but if you have special toys bring them although my dog was happy to look for underground critters. This is close to my home and we have a fenced yard but I love to take my dog on “field trips “ she loves this! We will be back!

Easy to find & fencing was secure. The grass is a little stiff & there were thorn branches from blackberry bushes in the field. Our dog didn’t seem too bothered by it, but if your pup has sensitive paws they may not enjoy it as much. Lots of space & flat!

The covered seating was great! The bowl of water was appreciated. There was lots of open space for throwing toys. A nice quiet setting if you want to read while your dog plays. The ground was a little uneven, so be careful if running around with your dog.

My dog had a great time here! Fence is very secure and there is a trash can for waste which is great! Someone mentioned lots of holes and there are - makes for nice sniffing but if your dog is clumsy or not very careful, it is a potential danger to be aware of. My dog seemed to navigate them okay.

Sniffspot only allows one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the spot during visits. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings.
