You do not have to pick up after your dog but if you do, you can throw it away at the provided trash can. Feel free to reach out with any questions! Pig Beach (near Port Ludlow)

A .63 acre dog sanctuary for you and your pup. The yard is well maintained with dog friendly grass and has incredible views of the Hood Canal and Puget Sound. If you're interested, there is private beach access for you and your pup to explore miles of beach (public but almost always empty). There are numerous dog toys available and a massive 6+ person, dog friendly couch (late Spring to early Fall) you can relax on and watch the canal when you need a break! Regarding the beach, there are approximately 50 steps which you will need to climb up and down to access the beach so please wear proper footwear. As this is on the Hood Canal and not a lake or a pond, tides impact the size of the beach. If you are hoping to walk endless miles of beach, the tide will need to be at 2ft or below. Anything under 4ft will give you a massive area (probably 1/2 mile or more) and almost guaranteed private area as only people with stairs can access the beach at this tide level. Though the beach is open at any point, I think the maximum height you would probably want to go is about 6.5ft. This still gives you and your dog a decent sized area to play in (approximately 500ft by 30ft or 1/2 acre). Photos 16 and 17 show the beach at 6.25ft with a very large sandy area for you and your pup to play in. Anything above 6.5 ft is not recommended as the beach just gets thinner and thinner, but you're able to try if you want. (no refunds given if you don't like what you find). With that said, a 8 ft tide still gives you approximately 20 feet x 300 feet of beach to roam so you pup still has some room to explore and 9ft is approximately 10 feet x 30 feet. You are responsible for checking out the tides before you go. Legally, I can't recommend any specific source for you to use, but you might find good information Googling "tide chart port ludlow". Regarding ADA Accessibility, my property is on a gently sloping hill. To access it, there are 2 very wide concrete steps to get to the grass. This would be doable for someone on crutches and probably ok for a regular wheelchair if you had a second person to help lower you to each step and pull you up. It's definitely not accessible to a motorized wheelchair. Sorry. Note - restroom is only available if I'm home, otherwise there is one approximately 2 miles northwest at the gas station in Port Ludlow

A place to run

This was a horse pasture, but horse no more. There are a few elevation changes and plenty of river rocks that you are welcome to! Grass is mowed. Ignore the electric fence (it is off). 2/3rd of an acre with one shade tree, and a couple of chairs. Bring your own: doggie bags, toys and water just in case (we do have a bowl for your dog).

We have one Sniffspot pasture. The totally secure fully fenced Sniffspot pasture is on your left as you come up the driveway. Enter through the gate next to the American Flag. Be aware of the Alpaca in the separate fenced pasture above the Sniffspot pasture. There is also a hose at the bottom of the stairs on the north side of the building to rinse off your pup's paws if needed. Welcome to our trail! This is a wooded path, mostly flat, with a couple of gentle rolling hills. Parking: On arrival, pull into the driveway and please park directly to your right in the grass. You will see a “guest parking sign” as well as an entrance sign and post with dog bags. Navigating the trail: On arrival, Keep your dog leashed unless they have perfect recall. Walk past the entrance sign and once you go through the first gate, you can let the pups off leash to run free. The main trail is maintained, follow it around the property, and come to the very end where you will find a gate with an “Exit” sign. Please leash back up at this point until you reach your car. (You may also come across gates that say “do not enter”… please don’t open these, you will no longer be fenced in.) You’re welcome to access the little seasonal creek but it is outside the fence line. Please shut that gate when you’re done using it. During the rainy months the trail can get muddy, we recommend boots for you and a towel for your dogs. In the spring and summer you will find wildflowers, and maybe even some berries! (Always only eat fruit you are 100% sure you can identify) In the fall and winter the leaves/foliage get sparse, so it’s easier to see the houses and properties through the woods, but the neighborhood is overall remote and quiet so it should still feel very private. Our dogs: We have 4 dogs that live here. They won’t have access to the area, but you might hear them bark when you arrive.

Some lawn chairs are also available on the porch for any humans, and two water bowl are present for thirsty pups after some hard play :). Spigot is located on the south-facing wall between the porch and some rose bushes. An unoccupied dog house across the yard under the tallest tree is also available for pups to duck into and explore.

It's a Dog's World! Room to Run and Have Fun!

** SAFETY - when you LEAVE the yard after your visit, please pull the gate handle hard enough so that you can hear it latch all the way shut; you should feel it click and if you push on it again it should not pop back open. A couple of times lately the gate has been wide open because it was not fully latched, and it opened back up. THANK YOU!! I appreciate it - I always look first before letting "my" dogs out, but it is still risky to have the gate open. 🐶🦴 ** PLEASE continue to leave a REVIEW every time you visit (even just stars!) and also please add a photo if you want to- the reviews help a lot, and I LOVE seeing the photos of all the cute dogs enjoying the yard!! That's what it's all about! 🐾 *** Rainy season has commenced - UGH. There WILL BE mud - your dog WILL get muddy. There are towels and a "Mud Buster" that you can use for their paws. For the humans, wear boots or shoes you don't mind getting dirty. I have quite a big yard for this area. It is fully enclosed by a 6' wooden fence. Between the yard and the patio, the total area is roughly 3200 sq feet. I have a rockery that dogs love to run up and down, juniper bushes, a large covered and uncovered patio area, a kiddie pool in the hot weather, 2 water bowls (and a hose for replenishing the water/pool if needed), lots of tennis balls and toys, and a large perimeter to sniff! There is a bench, small table, and some Adirondack chairs in the backyard (and more chairs and a larger table up on the patio) for the humans... feel free to move them around as you wish! There is plenty of space to throw balls and toys; if you have mobility issues and cannot go down into the backyard, you can stay up on the patio and have your dog bring the ball back to you. (There are flat stone steps that lead down into the yard.) Most dogs love to run up & down the rockery! Your dog(s) should be very tired and happy by the end of the Sniff! FALL 2025 UPDATE: We have chickens in the Sniffspot now. They have a secure coop in the upper play yard. If your dog is overly interested in the chicken coop you will need to leash your dog in the upper play yard and only allow your dog off leash in the lower pasture. Dogs cannot be permitted to harass the chickens in the coop. Guests who allow their dogs to harass the chickens will not be allowed back. There is a gate separating the upper play yard and the lower pasture that you are welcome to close, creating a secure off leash area away from the chicken coop. WATER/HOSE -- We have a hose available for use * upon request * We must be home to turn the water on. Please message us if you would like the water turned on and we will do our best to accommodate. -------- Two adjacent and connected pasture fenced yards totaling almost one acre including mixed long grass/dirt/wild flowers, beautiful old trees and sloped terrain above and below. No known hazards aside from hilly terrain and some blackberry brambles (we are diligently fighting them). In rainy months Nov-April there is a shallow pond/wetland (bring a towel). Fencing is all new 5' agricultural fencing secure for dogs of all sizes, including coyote rollers on entrance gates. Enjoy the serene space with a creek just beyond the fencing. Many songbirds too! Upper pasture features a playset with slides and swings. Two benches for sitting. Maybe not suitable for very tiny dogs due to eagles/ hawks. Private!!! Closed toed shoes recommended as well as mosquito repellent in summer especially at dawn and dusk. Hose may be available with advanced notice. Private driveway can be hard to find (follow instructions in welcome message). *** This property is also home to the Community Center for a dog rescue so you are likely to see dogs/people when entering the property. Please pull ALL THE WAY down the driveway to the entrance gate when using the sniffspot so you will not see other people when accessing the sniffspot.
