55A beautiful spot and a great, open area! It was very secure, had a nice spot to sit, and even a bin of extra toys to play with. I’d recommend it to anyone! Taylor V.

55I have a deaf dog, so we've really enjoyed getting to utilize sniff spots! We work on a lot of off leash activities that we never would out in the world, where I have no control over her recall. She gets to run and run and run and it's just THE BEST.
This might be my favorite one so far! I'm upset we didn't try it sooner! it's a dreamy drive, the view is great on the land, there are horses nearby. Dolly actually sat and just watched them for a while while we did treats and worked on her reactions and impulse control. it was really great! Being deaf, sometimes she just likes to watch things, in a place that is safe and without judgment. This was such a treat!
There's a dog in the neighboring yard who did bark, but dolly approached and they chased each other through the fence. The owners also seemed nearby and willing to jump in. There is an area by one of the fences that has access to some shallow marshy water. which my dog really enjoyed but some may want to know about. big bucket of toys. we brought our chuckit, but if we had forgotten, there were plenty of options. seating and even a table. there was a big water trough and a hose that went into it, but kind of murky. I found myself wishing I had brought a separate water, but that's just something I know for the future!
We picked up a few poops that weren't ours--which is a note to other pet owners not the hosts. We're lucky to have access to these spaces. please allow us the continued joy, and help keep everyone safe, by cleaning up after your pups.
Can't wait to come back and run and look at those horses again! Amber B.

55The area was clearly laid out for sniffspotters. The place was enclosed and there was small agility things set up. Water and poo bags were available. We enjoyed using the agility equipment and going down to the pond area to splash around. Ciri had a blast! Evie S.

55Really awesome spot! It was large enough to explore but not so big I couldn’t keep up with my dog. The one thing to improve would be adding a clean water source - I wasn’t sure how to add water to the tub and it didn’t look fresh. However we will be back and bring our own water vessel in the meantime. Thanks for hosting!Mackenzie E.

55Perfect property for reactive dogs! It is removed from high traffic areas, and just a great place for your pup to roam around without too much stimuli! The fencing was secure, but honestly, Birdie was in such pure bliss that she didn’t even want to find a way out, there was so much land to sniff! Lilli G.

55Fantastic spot on Sauvie Island - just a short drive from the bridge off the 30. It's as described and is probably my favorite SniffSpot so far. Ample space that seems to be quite secure (I didn't feel the need to scan the entire perimeter) and was easily able to keep my 56 pound belgian malinois mix inside the designated area. Hachi and I had a lot of fun there today, Saturday, 2/25/23. I plan to be back on the regular. Thanks, Kris!Christopher H.

55What a great sniffspot! It’s completely fenced in. Plenty of room to run and play fetch, plenty of things to sniff. Great for training or working on recall. The owner came out and greeted us and was super friendly. Aneesah R.

55Large, flat, clean and beautiful open fully fenced pasture on Sauvie Island with a few balls/toys and water for the dogs. Our dogs had a blast.
Kris was very accommodating by allowing us to pospone our first scheduled visit due to an unexpected snow storm and helped us to reschedule for the following week.
Thanks Kris for sharing your beautiful property with us!

55Nice quiet location and lots of space for your reactive dog to run around safely. There was a gap big enough for a determined small dog to slip through at one of the gates. My dog is 15 lbs and could’ve totally gone through it if she wanted to, but there was lots of space and smells to keep her from doing so. If your dog is 20 lbs or over it’s 100% secure! She had tons of fun and we’d definitely visit again. Samantha H.

55nice quiet space for the dogs to explore, convenient parking, pretty views. google maps seemed to have a hard time pinning this address down - lol - and i tried to rely on it too much. the painted wooden panels off rhe road and large painted “sniff” further in were giveaways but i passed them by twice following my map instead of my eyes. glad someone came out to direct me across the field through the next gate before i closed the main gate! 🤦🏽♀️ for sure plenty of signs of the water fowl and horse apples on our loop around…my cattle dog mix really enjoyed the flooded area! i would definitely prefer not dealing with so much animal poop but i see that warning on here now. 😁garnet e.

55The area is, simply put, fantastic. My dog Enzo got to experience a massive flock of geese circling overhead, which he found to be super fun! Yes, it is a bit muddy in spots but it is the PNW in winter muddiness was a given, so we just made sure to bring a towel to wipe our paws and dry off when we were done.Alex D.

55Have been here a few times now and have always had a good experience. You’re able to pull your car into the spot which is really nice, no need to leash your dog up and walk them in. Tons of space to sniff and roam in a beautiful area.
There was one low spot in the fence that made me a little nervous, but my dog wasn’t able to get out. There seems to be hot wire, but I’m not sure if it’s kept on.
The neighbors have a dog who likes to come over and bark, so if your dog is very reactive that may be an issue, but my reactive collie wasn’t as bothered as I thought. There’s space between the two yards that they can’t get to each other.
All in all, a nice big spot, kept clean, with lots of toys! Will continue returning 🤠 Victoria P.

55My dog loooooved this spot. I was a little worried because it’s right on a Busy street and she is very sensitive but she did great. We mostly stuck to the back of the property and it was quiet back there. She loved getting the zoomies and running into the creek. The trails were well marked and we had fun just walking around. Tons of spots to sniff!! As others mentioned there are thorny bushes so just watch out for them. I could tell the host had cut them back so we didn’t have any issues. I liked that were was a mix of sunny and shaded areas. All in all we really enjoyed it and will definitely be back! Page W.

FAQ about our Deer Island dog fields
Are dog fields safe?
If you are looking for an adventure, but also looking for safety, Sniffspot dog fields are a great option. While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, distracted dog owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private space for just you and doggy friends you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). Especially for training, privacy is ideal. Contrary to public dog parks, all Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog for off leash exercise or outdoor training. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars, while public dog parks often do not even have verified reviews. All payment is done securely online by credit card in a few simple clicks.
All park rental information is available online. Start by filtering parks by fencing, size and distractions, to find a private spot that works for your dog. If your dog has poor recall, you can visit one of our secure fields. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our dog fields where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can review the details of the listing to make sure it works as your desired activity space, for example, safe dog exercise, dog training, a stress-free adventure with your furry friend or even a puppy event. You can even check the park amenities chart for amenities such as indoor training facilities, agility field, synthetic turf, exercise balls or field parking availability in advance. If inclement weather is an issue or poor field conditions, you can reschedule your visit up to 2 hours in advance.
What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot dog field?
We require that all four-legged friends have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not allow dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules. Make sure to check host rules before visiting to ensure, for instance, that you are following allowable sports activities rules and any special events rules.
Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot field at the same time as me?
No. Facility rentals are for private play time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the area during visits, so this is perfect for a private adventure for you and your doggie friends, and perhaps a human friend. Hosts understand that many guests have dogs in training and are nervous owners. So when you book a Sniffspot dog field you have the entire private spot to yourself. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between time slots so you will not run into other guest dogs or a previous person when coming or leaving in the field parking area. Some hosts may have multiple fields, but there is always a buffer between fields.
