Nature in the City is a unique Private Dog Park that is 1 1/2 acres of beautiful natural land with varied landscapes. Step out of the city and into our natural setting that features different areas including 2 grassy fields perfect for fetch w/discs, ropes, or toys, (balls are not best here due to all of the surrounding bushes), a couple of forested areas, several nature trails for hiking adventures, and a wetland-like area with a healthy little creek that’s a hit with the pups. They can wade, cool off, and drink from the natural water. Your dogs will have so many different sniffing and secure off-leash exploring opportunities here! Our spot is so much more than just a fenced field! The area is diverse and so much fun for your dog(s)! This is a great spot to work on recall. There are a couple areas on the trails that are a little steep, there’s a trail where you have to walk over logs 🪵, and the little creek has to be stepped over in places, so people with limited mobility may have issues in these areas of the spot. There are two bridges over the creek, and we will be adding one more bridge at the far west end of the spot soon. There are plenty of spaces and trails that are suitable for all abilities. If you’re looking for a basic fenced field to play chuck-it then this probably isn’t your spot. We are continually working on our property, so every time you visit you will see improvements! We provide a rain/sun shelter with 4 foldable chairs (message us in advance if you need more chairs and we’ll put them out for you), and lots of supplies including dog toys & balls, poop bags, hand sanitizer, natural bug spray, sunscreen, wipes, hand towels, first aid kit, and a cornhole yard game. We also provide snacks and beverages for humans and doggos! Located outside are 2 zero-gravity reclining chairs, a kids size picnic table, a round metal table w/umbrella & 4 metal chairs, and fresh drinking water for your pups. There are open areas with sun ☀️, and there is shade all day due to many large trees. Our property is VERY secure with 5 to 6 ft fencing. We walk the fence line regularly and check to make sure it’s secure. We are located close-in on the Westside of Vancouver one mile from I-5 on 78th Street in West Hazel Dell near Felida. *It gets muddy in areas when it has been wet/raining outside. We have wood chips along trails and in muddy areas which help a lot! Come prepared so you enjoy your visit. **We recently added 6 solar flood lights in the main field area for those of you who visit after dark. They provide subtle light at the entryway, main field, and the shelter for about 4-5 hrs after it gets dark outside. If you you want to explore the trails after dark we recommend putting a collar light on your dog(s), and that you bring headlamps and flashlights 🔦. ***We recently added a small bridge over the middle section of the creek! You will see a white address sign “Windenfir” You will then see a sign “Windenfir Training Field.” Parking avail in front of gate, near the exit, or in front of garage (just not blocking garage door). Agility course, tennis balls, fresh water, and poo buckets available. Hose is on if not freezing temps. After going though Windenfir training field gate you will see the back gate with a sign “Windenfir Dog Pasture." Great place to explore and let them sniff. Looking to the right when out in the pasture, the neighbors Goldens occasionally bark. Two fences between properties on this side. Owner usually calls them when barking. The pasture has goat droppings so no surprises. This is a farm :) Chickens and goats in separate area and visible to dogs (see photos). Don’t be surprised if they come up to the fence to see what’s going on. The animals have been raised around dogs and are not bothered by them. They would come out if they could. Very nice field fencing in pasture. Chain link/field fencing in training field. As of now the training field and pasture are muddy and slick in areas. Agility equipment can be slick also due to rain. Check pasture area if deciding to throw a ball/stick/small child :). Hard packed in areas and not level in some. Playhouse is open for photos and kids. We love Sauvie Island and this Sniffspot was so amazing! So much room to roam - safely fenced and lots of amenities. A clean fresh puppy pool, shaded area with chairs and some dog agility obstacles. Bonus fresh blackberries right now - and they even left out little containers to take some home. Fable ran and ran and sniffed and had the best time! We practiced recall and other off leash skills!

Love love love this spot. I will be booking again. Cleo can run around with her BFF Boone and the setting is absolutely gorgeous from the horses to the chairs, trailer, blackberries galore, and all the beautiful touches such as chairs and a doggy pool, toys, doggy bags, place to get out of the sun. This is now my favorite spot.

I have tried multiple sites outside of Portland proper because I find that that these locations generally offer more space for my active pup. This site was perfect -- not only was a it a nice drive to get to the site, but it was a beautiful property with a comfortable sitting area. So peaceful and relaxing. Made it over to the Pumpkin Patch after our time was up and picked up fresh strawberries. A great day on Sauvie Island.

We LOVED this place! The big open field was perfect for our dog to zoom around, the agility equipment was a great addition, and although she’s skeptical of pools, she appreciated being able to hop in for a quick cool-down. Maxie is 15lbs and the fence was secure with no gaps for her to slip through. Can’t wait to come back!

Wonderful experience- clean & secure, lots of space, and a beautiful drive as well! I never knew anything like this existed... I recently rescued a "dog-reactive" doggo, and couldn't take him to the dog park to run free or test his recall. We were all so happy to find this place! Well secured (so I didn't have to worry about losing him) and obviously no other dogs to make him nervous. Thank you!
