“IMPORTANT NOTE: though not anticipated to be a concern, before opening the gate and entering the yard, simply take a quick look around to ensure that our dog, Sammy (a large black Labrador / German Shepherd, 92 lbs) is indeed not outside. Or us (your Hosts)! We absolutely adore Sammy and we have changed our lives to accommodate his unpredictable behaviors - he is reactive to dogs and people. He will always remain in the house during booked events. He won’t respond to loud Guests playing, laughing and barking! He loves it when you leave, though, because then he can go on a “sniffari” in his own backyard. —— We also have an indoor cat, Bella. Like Sammy, she will not have access to the back to distract your pups.”

“Other than our one abutting neighbor, dogs can be heard occasionally, off in the distance - either across the street or in a neighborhood that wraps around behind our property (beyond the woods)… far enough away that the barking sounds are muffled. My abutting neighbor’s dog, Brandi, is a timid golden retriever who is kept in her yard by an underground electric fence. Her “fence line” is about 15’ from the edge of our land/driveway - the side of the yard not seen when in Sammy’s Playground. She has a mild bark and will not approach. She’ll more likely bark once and run away. ——- Other domestic animals: because of the fence, it’s near impossible for other dogs to gain access to the backyard.”

“Along one side of the property (to the right side when facing backyard) is a neighbor’s driveway and gray detached garage. They keep to themselves (might not even wave to you, don’t be offended) and are usually indoors. A recent work schedule has made it so they are home more often. They are pleasant and quiet folks. They will not be disturbed (too much) by your dog(s) barking at them; though, we would greatly appreciate your efforts to calm your dogs and move them to another part of the yard for our long-time continued peace with them. NOTE: their driveway is literally only about 20 feet from our fence. If you happen to notice our neighbor before your dog(s) do, we would suggest moving them to a more isolated spot in Sammy’s Playground first. When facing the backyard and where the shed is, this neighbor spends many afternoons working around his yard. Mostly mowing his lawn. Very rarely, they have their young grandchildren over playing in their backyard. This family is dog friendly, like the couple above, but we would appreciate that your dog(s) doesn’t excessively bother him/them. They usually spend their time at the pool (seasonally, of course). It should be noted that this will likely not be an issue for you as there are mostly small wooded areas between the properties hindering views.”

Hey dogs and their humans… It’s time to come play at Sammy’s Playground, a private dog park for just you and your pups (there will not be any other dogs present during your visit). There’s lots to do for each and every one of you. With the entire 0.5-acre backyard fully enclosed by a new’ish and secure chain-link fence (Fall 2022), your pups are free to safely roam, sniff, fetch and run to their hearts’ delight. And, wow… you are surely going to love watching them go!! Zoom-Zoom. Pool… Yup, we have a pool! Is your pup a swimmer? Or a swimmer wanna be? Our pool is the perfect spot to splish-splash away! Open May to mid-September, pool use is additional as an Extra Flat Fee, (there’s plenty of photos showing what to expect, which includes towels and life vests). NOTE: pool use is an Extra flat fee, as listed in the Extras section. Consider this added cost when booking for your visit. The areas along the perimeter of the yard are wooded and make for fun pathways for explorations. There are twigs and branches as you would expect in a woody area. The central portion of the yard is sloped and open. This makes for plenty of romping and heavy-duty running- including long throws of a ball or a frisbee. We have tennis balls & a tennis ball chucker. Check out all of the photos and read the accompanying descriptions to get a better idea of how Sammy’s Playground will appeal to you and your furry friends!! And don’t worry about the yard (too much). There’s divots and mounds all around, no manicured lawns when dogs are at play. Go for it guys… Enjoy!! And, during off-season, the pool cover is elephant and dog safe. The dogs are allowed on the pool cover. It’s our hope that our absolute best is what gives our Guests the best experience each time they come over AND that our Guests remain as great as each have been - that we can continue to avoid any reason to raise our hourly rate. SniffSpot suggests we list Sammy’s Playground at $20/hour. We are uncomfortable with doing this, because it goes against the very spirit of our objective for Sammy’s Playground in the first place: providing a safe and secure environment for dogs of all temperaments to enjoy off-leash “true-dog” experiences with their loving humans. Barking IS allowed. (Be mindful of excessive barking for continued peace with our neighbors though) 🐾 We accept donations of dog food, p-pads and medications for the all-dog rescue organization, PAWS New England. PawsNewEngland.com is where you can find information about fostering, donating, adopting or other ways to support this amazing group. They save over 1,000 dogs per year. ——- NOTE: to open the gate, simply reach over the top to find the key. Twist/turn the key until it stops. Then, lift the knob on top of the gate and push the gate open… you’re in! The gate automatically closes behind you. Please confirm that it has engaged into the closed position and then turn the key to lock yourself in. DO NOT REMOVE THE KEY. Confirm that you have locked yourself in by seeing the little red dot and not being able to lift the knob. The photos section includes views of the gate, key and lock. MUST: when you leave, lock the gate. Doubly ensure that you have done so by lifting the knob. Upon leaving, leave the spot as you found it. Folks with multiple dogs should do a walk-about around the yard to ensure that all dog poop has been cleaned up. “Staged” toys can be left as is. Otherwise, we ask that all other toys, balls and such are put away. We appreciate your efforts!!

HOST NOTE

As the rule applies to every SniffSpot, do not enter Sammy’s Playground without being doubly sure that there is no one else on the property. FENCE: The new fence (Fall 2022) is primarily 4 feet tall and chain-link. The gates at the Main and a side entrance are aluminum rods with ~4 inch spacing. This makes Sammy’s Playground not safe for dogs about 15 lbs or less. FENCE: There is no separate fence around the pool. Upon entering Sammy’s Playground, the pool is readily accessible. We provide many sizes of doggie life vests. So, when the pool is open for use and your dog is not under your control, your dog will have direct access to the pool. When the pool is closed, its cover is elephant and dog safe. The dog cannot damage the cover. The dog may get wet from water in the pool. The water does freeze and becomes ice. YARD: The yard is for dogs and is not manicured. It is, after all, a yard for dogs. There are divots, ruts and small holes throughout the far back to which folks and pooches alike should be careful. TICKS: Ticks are prevalent year round and seem to be worsening year after year. We do not treat the yard with chemicals of any kind. Tick and bug repellent sprays are provided. We also have a lint roller which is apparently a useful way to get the tiny ticks off your dogs (so they say) and yourself. DECK: morning dew makes the deck surface quite slippery. DECK: The back of the deck has a big step down. SHED: The main wood shed door should be closed. If found open, don’t let your dog(s) enter. There’s fertilizer and other lawn-care products in there. We apologize profusely if that door was left open. The deck to the shed is in disrepair. We’ve blocked off access. We ask that dogs and humans remain out of this area GATES: MUST ALWAYS BE CLOSED and LOCKED - It is extremely important that folks pay close and strict attention to ensuring that the gates are indeed CLOSED and LOCKED. Do not remove the key. OFF-SEASON (October to May): POOL IS CLOSED with a cover that can sustain the weight of an elephant AND dogs. The dogs can go onto the pool cover without any issues or concerns. As Spring approaches, the water level rises to sometimes overflowing. Please know that when dogs walk on the pool cover in the Spring, the cover will sink about to the chest height of your dog and your dog will get wet! Every human said that it was a great experience for their dog. We provide towels. (Photos are included)

Pool Opens May 20260 credits

If your pups visit Sammy’s Playground only for the pool, it will be opened in early May. Sammy’s Playground remains open year round for all sorts of doggy fun activities, fetch, sniffing, exploring, training and, of course, zooming! All done in a safe and secure off-leash setting. Photographs of Sammy’s Playground, when the pool, is open are also shared in the Photos section of our website. Your pups are going to wish it was May! Smiles

NOTICE: The pool is closed. Dogs can walk on the cover. —- Park by Main Gate in FRONT of the garage door for easy access. (We do not park in the garage). Photos show fence entry The most significant rule to follow is common sense. But, it is also expected that Guests will be respectful of our land and property, and that of our neighbors,’ and fellow Guests - keep all 4 gates locked at all times, especially when you are in the backyard. Do not remove the key. Make doubly sure that you locked the gate when you leave by pulling the knob up. - toss dog waste into the “Poop Bank” bucket. We provide the poop bags, and dog shovels and rakes too - leave the property as you found it (return furniture to original places, put the toys away, hang wet towels and life vests, use the Waste and Recycling bucket, for instance) - do your best to protect the furniture, (in summer - help keep the cushions from getting dirty be keeping them covered with towels provide. (use any towel) - report any damages or concerns. You will find that we are pretty easygoing and don’t get hung up on the little things - like a destroyed toy. We just want to know if something is broken or needs our attention so that we can address it promptly. Thank you

Hi, we’re Sherri and David… married for 36 years now and still going strong. We raised our two sons here, Justin and Mitch, and have had the pleasure to supplement our family with countless dogs and cats, and even a couple of indoor bunnies and a tortoise. We mostly adopt senior dogs, but this time we fell in love with an adult dog (then 4, now 7 years old). He is a big black lab/German Shepherd mix named Sammy (he’s a rescue from Texas, our 5th); hence, we named this Sniffspot “Sammy’s Playground” after him. Sammy’s unpredictable behavioral issues make him a poor candidate for any public playground. It’s for this reason that we created this private playground - so that dogs like Sammy can enjoy a safe and secure place to play, zoom, SWIM and sniff. It’s why we offer the play space for the affordable rate, because we are sensitive to folks having dogs like our Sammy. Welcome to our spot! We have a big beautiful fully fenced in backyard with lots of features for pups to enjoy. Wide open grassy spaces, gentle hills, mossy areas, trees and bushes to explore, a small water feature, sunny and shady spots! We have a nice patio area with a variety of seating and tables. There is a hose for filling up dog bowls (please just ensure it is turned back off!). At the back of the yard, there is a gate leading out into woods/conservation area that can also be explored. If you bring kids, we have a small playhouse on the patio with some toys inside, along with two slides in the middle of the yard. Just ask for the WiFi password! They won’t be back there when the yard is rented. Please make sure to read the directions for parking and where to enter the backyard entrance as it is a bit hidden. Please go down Littlefield Rd. Take the first left onto an unmarked street. You will see a middle school field on your right. Our metal gate entrance is on your left. Most guests spend about an hour here—walking the 20–30 minute trail loops and then relaxing by the water or letting their dogs play. It’s a great way to enjoy fresh air, peaceful nature, and some quality time with your four-legged friend. We’re always working to enhance the experience, and we plan to add even more trail options this summer—so there will be more to discover on your next visit! A few quick notes: the trails can get muddy during rainy or winter months, so we recommend wearing boots. The pond is not maintained, and guests who choose to enter the water do so at their own risk. Welcome to our spot! We have a big beautiful fully fenced in backyard with lots of features for pups to enjoy. Wide open grassy spaces, gentle hills, mossy areas, trees and bushes to explore, a small water feature, sunny and shady spots! We have a nice patio area with a variety of seating and tables. There is a hose for filling up dog bowls (please just ensure it is turned back off!). At the back of the yard, there is a gate leading out into woods/conservation area that can also be explored. If you bring kids, we have a small playhouse on the patio with some toys inside, along with two slides in the middle of the yard. Just ask for the WiFi password! They won’t be back there when the yard is rented. Please make sure to read the directions for parking and where to enter the backyard entrance as it is a bit hidden. Please go down Littlefield Rd. Take the first left onto an unmarked street. You will see a middle school field on your right. Our metal gate entrance is on your left. When school is in session please park on Littlefield or Winston Rd. Otherwise you can pull up to the gate. Most guests spend about an hour here—walking the 20–30 minute trail loops and then relaxing by the water or letting their dogs play. It’s a great way to enjoy fresh air, peaceful nature, and some quality time with your four-legged friend. We’re always working to enhance the experience, and we plan to add even more trail options this summer—so there will be more to discover on your next visit! A few quick notes: the trails can get muddy during rainy or winter months, so we recommend wearing boots. The pond is not maintained, and guests who choose to enter the water do so at their own risk. We’re also continuing to mark property lines and add signage to help everyone feel comfortable and informed during their visit.
