Description

Our property is a dog’s paradise! We have an open backyard, wooded trails, and an orchard out back with tall grasses. We keep the trails and orchard mowed for walking, but your dog will have ample woods, puddles, and other adventures at their disposal! Since we live in the woods, we occasionally have trees fall down on our 5 foot welded wire fence. Please be mindful if your dog is an exit seeker, although we walk the fence and mend any spots we see often. There is a large pole barn visible near the gate where you enter that is our neighbor’s yard. His yard/barn is not visible from the rest of the property once you’re down the path a little ways. For SPRING/SUMMER months, tics and mosquitos are around. We do not spray our land, so make sure you and your pup have the protection you need. In summer mosquitos are often worse near dawn and at dusk, especially in thicker parts of the woods, and less so in the backyard and orchard areas. In the winter, we snowmobile our trails to keep them walkable! There may be slippery spots here and there, so prepare accordingly! Be sure to look ahead at the roads on MN 511 in case of winter weather.

HOST NOTE

We live in a heavily wooded area. We check the fence often, but there may be trees down occasionally on a section. Our neighbor to the south of us is occasionally in his yard with his dog, who is friendly and well trained. If your dog is reactive, consider keeping them on a leash until away from the entrance. His yard area is not visible from the majority of our land, especially when trees fill in during summer months. Cows are pastured next to our orchard in the summer. While they’re friendly, please don’t touch or feed them, as it encourages them to push on our fence. At times, our neighbors turn on the electric fence on their side to further discourage this. Dogs cannot reach the electric fence through ours, but it could shock a human if they reach an arm through. Since we live in a rural area, occasionally you may hear people in the distance doing target practice. Like any other wooded area, you may encounter ticks and mosquitos while walking. We like to protect our pollinators and don’t spray, so please take precautions for yourself and your pup! Deet spray and picaridin lotion work well. In the summer our woods also has wood/stinging nettle, which can sting and cause a rash for a few minutes if your skin comes in contact with it. We’re slowly working on reducing this plant.

This spot has all the smells a dog could want. Enter the property through the electric gate and park onsite, then release the hounds. Host will be on-site to let you and then leave. The yard has a lot of space for running and playing catch. There is a large area of sand that dogs can dig and play in. Yard is fully fenched with fabric on the fence to keep dogs focused in the yard. We have seen deer, racoons, possum, wild turkies, bunnies and tons of squirrels run through our yard.

Ultimate WINTER Sniffing Experience in Roseville!

Winter Update 2025/2026 - still open for sniffs! We’ve taken down the hammock and the sunshade on the gazebo, and put the pool away… but still open for sniffing fun! Nearly 1/3 of an acre in Roseville available for your dog to sniff until their heart’s content! Open mowed grassy area wide enough for zoomies and long enough for fetch, as well as natural/unmanicured shaded areas for “jungle sniffari’s”. Not far off of Highway 36 and 35E, enjoy the perks of room to run while having the privacy of your own space. Plenty of seating for humans underneath a shaded gazebo, with a table and basic amenities for guest use. Please be aware that we do have other dogs in the neighborhood. This includes our direct neighbors to the north, who we share a chain link fence with. If you are visiting on an evening or weekend, there’s a good chance their dog will be outside also!

Please bring water.* The water is usually left ready to go, but the spigot on the side of the house is off. To use it, open the valve on the side of the house by the driveway. When you leave, please shut it off again, it tends to drip otherwise. Thanks!

A large, open 1.25 acre fenced in yard with multiple small hills that is bordered on the west side by a public walking trail (with 6 foot fence) and on the north side by Rice Creek (with 5 foot fence). Note that the creek is not directly accessible from the Sniffspot. During the winter months, deer and foxes pass just outside of the fenced in yard, while in warmer months the creek entices additional wildlife as well as the occasional canoeist or kayak. Agility equipment pictured are available during the warmer months and are not available in the winter. There's abundant street parking as we are located at a dead-end.
