55This place is great!! Our dogs loved all the different areas, and the host was awesome. We will definitely be back!
55Great spot, good fencing, lots of shady and sunny spots for dogs to explore, and a cute woods with trails. Best of all, in my Lab’s opinion, was the sparkling clean pool! She loved swimming. Was unsure of the steps at first, but managed and the ramp was a little steep, but she figured that out too. It wobbled the first time and I think that scared her, so hold it the first time your furbaby tries it. She figured it all out though and it was an excellent visit!!
55Great for some alone time with your dog to be able to run around without a leash freely!
55My dogs enjoyed exploring the different fenced off sections and having access to the pool was great!
55We thoroughly enjoyed visiting. It is a very well thought out play area and space for dogs. Host provided all information with details and pictures before we arrived to make sure we knew where everything was located. We will definitely use again!

Sometimes

Our dogs will be inside. They might at the window as you pull into the driveway. The neighbors on both sides have dogs. You might see them while you are in the lightly wooded area just past the sniff lounge (just after you enter). We have some privacy screening up, and plan to add more when we can. Once you get to the lawn area, you might hear dogs but will not be able to see them.

Parking is beside our home, in front of the sniffspot entrance. I like to greet guests the first visit if possible. I am a trainer and understand that some dogs are reactive. If you are concerned about your dog's comfort with people, let me know. I can avoid the greeting if necessary. The main reason for greeting you is to ensure that the fence is closed securely after you enter, and to give you details about navigating the three connected fenced areas.

Description

We bought this property for our dogs, and have invested heavily in creating an off-leash haven for them. We have 3 separately fenced areas that all connect by gates. Entry to Cody and Lovey's Legacy park is through what we call the "Sniff Lounge" - a lean-to type covered porch filled with straw to roll and dig in, and lots of smells to uncover. The Sniff Lounge leads to the lightly wooded Explorium - a shaded area with hanging food puzzle toys, barrels, and natural obstacles for dogs to explore. The Explorium leads to our Green Space - a large, open fenced yard with shade and sun, a pool, and some additional obstacles, jumps, a homemade creek and waterfall and a tunnel. You and your dog are welcome to use the pool, but please be aware that there is no dog ramp. You will have to help your dog navigate the stairs to get out. Do not use the pool if you are not willing to get in with your dog! We have the homemade creek and waterfall (just turn the hose nozzle on) and a baby pool for dogs who can't get in the human pool. At the back of the Green Space, you'll see another gate that leads to the Wooded Grove. The Wooded Grove is also fully fenced and has a couple trails cut in to the woods, with some chairs to relax in. The Wooded Grove is not large, but dogs love it, and it feels so nice and cool even on super hot days. It's a place for dogs to get their Sniff on for sure. Cody and Lovey's Legacy Park is named in honor of our past friends, who would have really enjoyed this wonderful spot.

Hazards

This spot has a water feature, make sure to review these guidelines for visiting spots with water before visiting: https://help.sniffspot.com/article/167-how-to-keep-your-dog-safe-around-pools-and-water From time to time our dogs dig holes in the yard - we try to fill them in, but be cautious. There is some uneven ground, but mostly easy walking. The pool could be considered a hazard for dogs or people who can't swim. There is a gate at the stairs. Please be cautious about using the pool. There is not currently a dog ramp into the pool, so you will have to go in with your dog and help your dog navigate the stairs to get back out. We have fencing around the pool deck, but be cautious in case your dog gets curious about the potential to jump off of it.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL OF BEARS! I have had a bear in the back yard a few times recently. They jump fences! If you need a better idea of where it is, it's within walking distance of the East Asheville Farmer's Market, Library, Fire Department, and Wells Fargo. I'm also close to Bull Mountain Rd. A few Announcements: While I make every effort to ensure that my roommate and other guests have cleaned up after their dogs, I have occasionally been informed that they have not. So I must now update the description accordingly. I welcome you to partake of my beautiful backyard in a peaceful neighborhood- as long as you are aware it is possible there is occasional dog poo. Also be advised that if you are extremely sensitive to poison ivy, be aware there may be some in some parts of the yard. If your dog is a curious sort, be aware that there is some yard equipment being stored under the deck and this area is open and not blocked off. I cannot anticipate every guest's need, but I am happy to offer my yard for a small fee to those who understand what is being offered. Thank you! Also, if you should happen to encounter my neighbor in the back left of the yard, please be advised he is unfortunately a little senile and has been known to be a nuissance to several of his neighbors. I don't want to scare you off, as we love our yard and will continue using our yard in the ways we see fit. If his (small) dogs come out while you are there, please be careful with your dogs, and please take anything he says with a grain of salt-, he unfortunately sometimes behaves like your classic grumpy old man. We apologize in advance for anything he says and are working on a solution. It may take some time for that to be implemented. Recommendations: 1) Please clean up after your dog. 2) If you book an evening time, be prepared with a flashlight, or know when the sun sets. I have outside lights, but I can't guarantee they will always be on, and they don't illuminate the whole yard. The space: A wide open space with rolling hills for your dogs to play, while you enjoy the view. *The sprinkler is actually a garden hose that is a "soaker" hose. It sprays water out of it like a sprinkler. There are plenty of sticks you can throw for the dog to fetch. (The location is 5 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 5 minutes to Downtown Asheville, and close to the Folk Art Center. The newly renovated Haw Creek library and playground, Creekside Tavern, and High Five Coffee are just down the street. You can also walk to the Haw Creek Farmer's Market from here on Fridays, 3-6 pm. You can walk straight from to the Mountain to Sea trail from here without having to drive, and hike to Lunchbox rock (seen in pictures here.) I included the porch pictures so you could see the sunset. :) ) There is hand sanitizer, sunblock and bug spray under the stairs, under the side of the bottom step that you are welcome to use.i
