55Very fun spot with tons of room to explore and lots of trails to hike and let our dog run through! Plenty of seating and picnic tables as well as trash cans which was super handy so I didn't have to carry a doggy bag throughout our hiking. All the fencing we saw was built well enough for our guy to decide it wasn't worth testing. The river area was a great detour on our way back as well and not deep or too fast moving to worry about our dog losing his footing or anything like that. Was able to work on recall training in a densely wooded area which we absolutely loved, and our guy did great. Our big guy really wanted to check out the goats but we made sure to keep him away since he seemed a little too excited. He's been around donkeys, horses, and chickens but never goats so those were a bit intriguing to him I'm sure, a much different scent than he's used to. 😅 The grounds were beautifully maintained and clean, and the views were amazing! We definitely plan to be back again, this sniffspot was awesome! 😎👍
45Wooded acreage and a river made for a fun dog visit. Hilly walking but we covered the property a couple times.
55The dogs loved the forest, chasing one another around on the trails. Pretty and quiet space. Well cared for land.
55We love hiking here! Lucy pup had such a great time!
55We have been sniffers for years and this remains one of our top 3 sniff spots to visit. It is always quite a haul up here for us but it is always worth it and Grace is such a wonderful host. Can’t say enough good things about this place!
55Great spot! Lots of places to explore and hike with your pup. We had a small dog with us and we weren’t worried he could get out. Our big dog ran for the entire hour
55We had a wonderful time hiking in the forest. We will definitely be back. Also, thank you for the treats for humans and our pup. Walter loved it 🥰
55Had so much fun today. The dogs were so happy and zoomed around. One of my favorite spots!! The pups loved the snack the host left us and said it was the perfect end to a great walk.
55Always fun time at mini forest. Has many trees, so rain drops don't bothering us.
55Always a great spot for our two pups! Lots of space to explore and our big guy loves the little creek!!! So much fun for them and a good little hike for us:-)

If my dogs sense your arrival, they will start barking inside the house, which might be heard from the parking area, but the sniffspot is far from our house. Also, as of 11/2022 our neighbor got a white dog that loves to bark on their side of the fence close to the creek if it spots you. If that cute yappy dog bothers you, you might want to stay up the hill instead to avoid it, which is more private anyway. And I've noticed it'll stop barking.. eventually. :(

Depending on where our 4 goats roam at the time, they may or may not be visible before the sniffspot entrance area, but they are in their enclosed space. You may visit or even feed them, they love apples, bread & carrots. Our neighbors & us have 🐓🐔 but they’re far. You might hear gobbling 🦃 too from our neighbors.

but it's not in the area where the dogs will be playing around. Hubby and/or hubby's friend/s might do some work in the barn, workshop, garage, the area surrounding the house, and relatives might come visit unannounced or even deliveries. Once in a while our neighbors will also be seen or heard doing stuff in their own yard, but it's not close.

Description

Our property is shy of 12 acres, 9+ acres of which we're sharing as a private off leash dog space or Sniffspot. The entrance is over the bridge where the creek is and 'From Creek to Back of Property' is all yours to explore. You may unleash your doggies right after the bridge and chain the gate if you want. Dogs might run down the creek for a splash or drink. Continue on to our family campground, there are picnic tables you could use. Then, up the hill you go to 'hike up the mini forest', free to roam around, listen to the birds, squirrels and other critters and sounds that nature brings you. You'll find seating areas while your dogs are at play, feel free to use them. Enjoy a picnic with your loved ones if you're up for it on one of the cabin porches or covered / uncovered picnic tables. The back of property behind fence is DNR land, so rest assured you’re on your own private little world with your furry buddies. The mini forest has some large walking paths and smaller trails scattered about, also some open meadows and is at a peaceful wooded setting. This is where I go to unwind and relieve my head of stress and worries. It’s my place of meditation, while my dogs sniff and romp around like crazy, do their zoomies and play hide n seek! *If you want to save a little bit of moolah, check out Sniffpass. Forget about the gym, you'll get your exercise here with your dogs. If you have older dog/s and would like to drive below the hill to park so the fur buddy don't get exhausted, message me.* Some of you have asked about the cabins. Sniffspot is unavailable if Cabins are booked or vice versa. Booking is through Hipcamp (www.hipcamp.com). Name of listing: 'Grace E.'s Mini Forest Cabins'. Check it out by copying and pasting link below to browser or Search listing through the hipcamp site. https://www.hipcamp.com/en-US/land/washington-grace-e-s-mini-forest-ex9hrrp8?shareid=1ddvuyvr3yh Saturdays are usually blocked if there's Hipcamp bookings. But I would unblock the hours for Sniffspot use if that day isn't booked for Hipcamp, so please try to check back, who knows that day might be available! Anyway, hope you too will enjoy your little 'hike up the mini forest..'

Hazards

Wear hiking boots, rain or dirty boots. Bear in mind that you’re in the country out in the woods, we have goats & when it rains watch out for muddy areas. Depending on the time of the day and season, bugs may be present, so please bring bug spray. When it gets windy, watch out for falling branches, limbs and twigs from old trees. There is also a section where we stack metal piles to be disposed off later, please pardon that eyesore. Occasionally, again, since you're in the country, by the mountains, our neighbor would once in a while do target practice or do some annoyingly loud shooting towards the DNR, you might also hear fireworks, even logging noise at times. :( This spot has a water feature, make sure to review these guidelines for visiting spots with water before visiting: https://help.sniffspot.com/article/167-how-to-keep-your-dog-safe-around-pools-and-water

Bison and Peaches, are my 2 English Shepherds. In July of 2024, Kora Belle, an Australian Cattle Dog, was added to our family. The 3 furballs, along with hubby, Brian & myself enjoy hiking up our little hill, mini forest out back & sometimes with our goats. I found out about Sniffspot through Facebook. I saw a video of a couple talking about Sniffspot & loved the idea! So here I am doing the same thing & what a blessing it is. I love it especially when I see the faces of the parents & their 4 legged babies after the visit, tired, maybe dirty, but happy!
