NEW: Peaceful, Private, Fully Fenced Urban Oasis

Welcome to our private, fenced backyard in a quiet NE Portland residential neighborhood. This space offers approximately 0.1 acres of grassy yard with privacy, mature trees/shrubs, shade, and plenty of room for dogs to explore, sniff, and play off-leash. The yard is reserved for one booking party at a time and is ideal for dogs who enjoy calm play, decompression, training, or meeting a friend in a low-stress environment. The setting is peaceful and enclosed, with natural landscaping that encourages sniffing and exploration rather than high-arousal play. Fencing details: The yard is enclosed on all sides. Most of the perimeter is traditional fencing. One section consists of stacked railroad ties approximately 3 feet tall. This has worked well for many dogs but may not be the best fit for dogs who are high jumpers, climbers, or known escape artists. Deck access: The deck and stairs are not available for guest use. A secure fence is installed at the bottom of the stairs to block access, keeping all visits limited to the grassy yard area only. This is a quiet residential neighborhood, so we ask guests to be mindful of neighbors. Occasional barking is expected, but dogs who bark continuously or show signs of distress may not be a good fit for this space. Thoughtful supervision is appreciated to help keep noise at a respectful level. Yard is cleaned weekly on Thursdays.

Your attendance has allowed us to continue development of our Disney Land for dogs and being a contributor to the Portland Humane Society. Toward that end this is what we have to offer at present with more to come. Two main walking trails, with two offshoot trail loops at present. Signage is there at each to help you in and out of each. Each has a selection of walking sticks at the trailhead, should you choose to use them. Appropriate good grip footwear is recommended especially during our monsoon season. Trail one, the shorter of the two, is about 25 minutes give or take, and takes a degree of dexterity more than trail too. Trail two contains two loops trails that take 30 to 45 minutes there and back to the parking area. The trail has two rest areas to sit with umbrellas to keep the rain off when needed. Trail 2, loop two has large Vern plant areas like you may have seen in the Jurassic Park movies.  There are (2) Two parking areas, one much larger for up to 25 cars to accommodate larger group events. A porta potty for your convenience. Multiple poop depots throughout the park with bag dispensers. Two water play areas one is shallow to help pups to acclimate comfortably to water play. The other is the larger man-made pond area. The larger pond area has a selection of small watercraft to help acclimate pups to being on the water with a parent. A large selection of different size lifejackets for parents and pups. Floatable toys for retrieval are nearby. A Muddy Paw Spa to clean pups and shoes before getting into the car. Included, are multiple towels to dry off your pup, and a close line to hang the wet towels on to dry off. For those concerned about blue green algae, a bulletin board showing a test kit that can be purchased through Amazon. Test takes 15 minutes, with 99% accuracy. Next to it is an area to post the initials of the tester, date, time, and results of the test for other guests to see. Any guest doing this will be given an extra 15 minutes to the end of their reservation time on us. Please let us know in advance if you decide to do the test. For reasons to detailed to get into now, there’s never been an issue with blue green algae at Tail Waggers. A comprehensive agility course with all the obstacles that you would see on the YouTube obstacle course events. Multiple toy stations. If on your visit, you would like to donate unused toys for other pups to enjoy that would certainly be appreciated. A long mowed area above the pond for long distance ball and frisbee retrieval. They’re also a few frisbee catchers there to practice frisbee throwing accuracy. Long, medium range and putter frisbees are provided. A 10 x 10 doggy dig sandbox for those pups to enjoy digging. A tug-of-war for those pups will enjoy a good tug. The picnic area has been expanded to accommodate pup, birthday parties, pup, groups, and family gatherings. For those bringing young children, a swingset. Solar lighting around trees, parking area and the porta potty will help to illuminate these areas when darkness falls. There are water dispensers with water bowls. There is another area being developed presently that will become an urban agility course.

Disclaimer! We have peacocks that stay clear of dogs! We have an upper property that is approx 4 acres and a path to lower property approx 17 acres. There is a creek that runs through lower property. Lots of wilderness to explore!

4 securely fenced acres of dog paradise. Open spaces to play fetch, or a game of puppy tag; mature Douglas fir's for shade and squirrel watching; and a small pond (more like a deep mud puddle masquerading as a pond) to cool off when the mood strikes.

Sit in the woodsy A-frame hut, out of the sun or rain while your pups explores the 1/3 acre area. Sit at the picnic table and share lunch together. Need to get out some energy? Run your dog through all the agility obstacles! A Saw-Dust Toilet Outhouse is available for your convenience. See pictures. It’s there incase you need it. Coming Soon: a swing-set for the kids, more obstacles, more toys. Dogs are free to dig as much as they want! Our farm is 1/2 mile down a private drive. The Sniffspot is at our property entrance along our driveway. There’s a mini-Aussie that lives in the white house 500 ft away from the Sniffspot. Large front yard, gate separates the back. I’d lay on a blanket in nicer months and throw the ball for my kiddo before he passed and when the asphalt was too hot. We’re 1 block from Springwatet trail and creek and within walking distance to Main City Park. Thom Park is a few houses down the block and has a huge and lovely area that rarely has anything in it.
