55This is the perfect sniffspot to introduce your dogs to hiking safely or if you just want to be on your own private trail. We have a great time playing in the river, jogging through the meadow, and then hiking up the wooded area to a pretty lookout. This sniffspot is worth the drive coming out from Seattle, just make sure to book 2+ hours so you can enjoy everything Andi N.

55This spot is a little bit of everything! A walk through the woods, across a creek, nice and shaded. Then a nice open, flat walk along the power lines, where you can enjoy the sun. We will definitely be back to do the hike to the lookout!Valerie F.

55Loved the hike! Good combo of shade and sun, hosts directions are easy to follow. Some rough terrain and incline, but pretty manageable. I considered wearing sandals and I’m glad I didn’t, lol. From the car to the top took 45-50 mins for us, with a few water breaks. 2.5 hrs was a perfect amount of time to do the hike, enjoy the view, and mess around in the creek afterward. I’m sure you could explore forever though!Celeste D.

55This was the most perfect place to take my reactive dog hiking. She got to sniff and explore and just be a dog without any stress and that’s all I can ask for. She’s usually terrified of water but she even played around in the creek a little bit!! Instructions for the hike were thorough and clear. Me and Lucy will definitely be back, thank you for sharing this lovely spot!! Hannah K.

55Beautiful blue sky and fantastic view from the top of the hill. Booked before too toasty, but have some shade areas and actually we could cool off. Luckily, there is still water flow at the creek, so doggies enjoyed and soaked before heading home. As always, we had a fun time.Akane M.

55First time using Sniff spot. What an amazing location this guy has. Could tell he put a lot of time and effort and thought into this property. Our dogs favorite part was the little creek with the bridge. She loved jumping off the bridge into the water. Ty M.

55This place was truly amazing! We spent 2.5 hours here, and although we didn't make it all the way up the mountain to the views, we had so much fun playing in the creek, exploring the open land under the electrical wires, and taking our time in the woods. We will definitely return with more time to be able to hike the whole way up. Michelle H.

55What an amazing experience for our pups and us. We will definitely be back again. One pup is a fear pup and he was so relaxed and happy. The other is a protective pup, but didn't have to be on alert all the time and was zooming back and forth. Very happy and tired pups! Thank you!!!Nola O.

55What a cool place!! The host is so kind and responsive and even offered to let us stay longer because we had arrived a bit late. Definitely make sure to book a long stay and ask for the hike instructions. We didn’t go to the top today but still had a blast in the rain. Amiya M.

55So much fun! Trails are somewhat steep, but easy to access and navigate. We had a great time! I didn't see anywhere to put my poop bag after our walk, so I ended up packing it home, but I am assuming this was probably an oversight on my end.
The area is quite spacious, so it echoes a bit and my dog had a slightly tough time with recall because of it - which made this a really fantastic spot to practice a bit more with his long leash! Thanks for letting us use your space, Aarika! I am sure we'll be back. 😁Larissa R.

FAQ about our Mount Vernon dog hiking trails
Are dog hiking trails safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. With a Sniffspot off-leash area all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars. Our hiking trails tend to be outside the city, which lends to more privacy, but it is also important to follow typical hiking safety precautions, such as potentially having trail maps.
