Lucky Farms Animal Rescue is a nonprofit dog rescue focusing on Giant breeds such as Great Danes and Saint Bernards. Giant breeds have a hard time in a shelter environment and are much harder to adopt out. We also have a squishy face division focusing on English bulldogs and French Bulldogs. We rescue, rehab and find amazing homes for these deserving dogs

Mission and Vision

We rescue, rehab and find amazing homes for giant breed dogs in need

Specialization

  • English Bulldog
  • French Bulldog
  • Great Dane

Other specialization

  • Saint bernard

Adoption Policy

We require a vet check to ensure all current and previous pets have been kept up to date on core vaccines, heartworm testing and heartworm prevention. We confirm home ownership or landlord policies. We interview both the applicant and 2 personal references. We also perform an interdisciplinary home visit to insure the home is a safe and appropriate environment for our dogs. If spirited, we arrange and meet and greet with both prospective new dog and prospective family and their current Dogs to ensure it will be a good fit prior to approving Adoption

"We adopted our Dottie Lou from this rescue, they specialize in giant breed dogs like Saint Bernards and Great Danes, these guys are so hard to get adopted because a lot of people cannot commit to giant breed dogs due to their size and cost of maintaining. So glad we found them."

"I became acquainted with Lucky Farms when I was a potential adopter. I saw firsthand how the owner takes the time to truly match the dogs with the people. At the time, it was frustrating because I just saw all these great dogs being matched up and was feeling that ol "when is it my time?" brattiness😬. I see the wisdom in that -as I did then- but now I truly get it - when we saw Gracie's story, we knew that that was our heart dog. The other dogs were wonderful dogs and we would have truly loved them but something about Gracie just spoke to my heart; I resonated with her spirit. After having a leg amputated, she was just as smiley and happy as ever. (Because yes, I am a thorough researcher and I watched the videos before her leg was amputated and after and let me tell you, the only thing missing from Gracie is a bad attitude.)We've loved Gracie Mae for almost 7 years now and there could not have been a better match for our family. She has survived us fostering a puppy that would chase her around the yard, a dog that tried to become one with her against her wishes, a dog that quickly thought he was the boss. She has met it all with the same resilience and grace that she exhibited from that first video I saw. To see that Lucky Farms takes the time to truly match a dog with their forever family really makes me appreciate the work that goes into that. They're not just hurrying to get a match made to "up" their numbers or to get some money or to make room for another. All of that can be a great by product but it's not the goal. Lucky Farms has the true goal at heart and does an unbelievable job meeting that goal."

"We have not been involved with a rescue prior to Lucky Farms. Our love of Great Danes after buying our first one as a puppy was so great that we wanted to start helping giant breed dogs, a group that disproportionately gets bought then dropped by families who don’t understand the responsibility h to my are getting into. We followed Lucky Farms and started running donated food to the HQ, then we saw Tigger. Tigger was an older Dane out of Georgia that was in need of a foster. We drove to Atlanta and met a couple that had transported him from Macon. I was shocked when I saw him. He was underweight, dirty, and acted as if he had never been in a car before. He ripped open a bag of food I had bought before picking him up with his teeth and started eating out of the corner of the bag. He was surly with our Dane when he met him and for a few weeks, I just didn’t know if it was going to work! But our rescue organization gave us so much encouragement and helped us to get him neutered and get medical help. After a month, we realized no one could take care of him better than us, and we adopted him. Since then we have started to donate regularly to the organization to help other families. Tigger passed away after three years with us in December, and we were glad to help him, but shattered by the loss. We will definitely be helping Lucky Farms for years to come, and after our current Dane passes on, we’ll make sure to open our home again for new fosters."

"Lucky Farms Animal Rescue is one of my favorite rescue groups. As a long time advocate for dogs, I only work with groups who do rescue right. I have worked with hundreds of groups all over the southeast US. Since 2018, I have fostered for Lucky Farms, transported, assessed shelter dogs and dogs about to be surrendered, I've taken photographs of adoptable dogs, done home visits, phone interviews with applicants, picked up owner surrenders for this group.... You don't get to do all this and not understand the inner workings of the rescue. Lucky Farms does rescue the right way. I feel confident saying this group cares deeply about the dogs they save and finding the best homes for them."

"We got our EB through Lucky Farms. They are a great rescue that truly cares for the animals. The process was very pleasant. It was our first time rescuing. We would be glad to work with them again."

"I applied to Lucky Farms as a long time Dane owner looking to add to our family. They were responsive, did their due diligence, and the volunteers walked me through the whole process. As soon as I was approved a pair came in who needed a foster and since we knew we were going to add a pup I asked for a foster to adopt situation that I had never done. The volunteers walked me through the process and the importance of decompression and checked in regularly. They coordinated the transport too. This rescue is top notch and I’d absolutely love them to get recognized if it helps them save more giants."

"When we lost our beloved Molly Dane we were devastated. We reached out to Lucky Farms Animal Rescue to help us find another senior Great Dane that we could nurture. They thoughtfully and carefully worked with us to find our River Dane who has proven to be a perfect fit for our family. Based in Nashville Tennessee their network of screened and validated fosters across the south east enables them to react to large breed dogs in need quickly and efficiently as these dogs do not do well in shelters. They also maintain an extensive group of volunteers who stand ready to screen applicants for foster and or adoption, assist with transporting dogs and contribute time and resources to support the organization."

"Lucky Farms Animal Rescue is an amazing rescue that specializes in large breeds. I have adopted 3 Danes from them over the years and they have all been amazing dogs. Their fosters are great people who are truly dedicated to these dogs. I would totally recommend them if you are looking to add a large breed to your family."

"This animal rescue was one that worked with my husband and myself. When we said we didn’t have a fence, they didn’t turn is away. We explained our situation and they gave us a chance unlike a couple other rescues. We wanted to give a dog(s) a second chance at a wonderful life years before we came in contact with this rescue. We stopped looking into rescues bc they all told us we HAD to have a fence. We tried again shortly after one of our Danes passed away. We found Lucky Farms Animal Rescue. (We weren’t holding our breath) They were kind and I would rescue another Dane from this rescue again. The Dane that we rescued has turned out to be one of our best Danes we have ever had! Our Dane rescued my husband and myself."

Having grown up in busy Santa Barbara, Jen, an introvert from an early age, would seek out solitude and serenity away from tourists attractions and droves of people visiting from elsewhere. “My grandparents own 60 acres about a 30 minute drive from here, and I grew up spending every summer and every holiday visiting them on the ranch,” Jen explained. “In Santa Barbara, we wouldn't go to the beach on the weekend because that's where everybody was, so you'd find places off the beaten path where the tourists weren't. For me, the ranch was just my happy place.”
