A senior dog rescue working to raise awareness of the dangers of puppy mills and backyard breeding
Mission and Vision
Miri's Haven is an all-volunteer, foster-based 501c3 senior dog rescue dedicated to the rescue, care, and adoption of senior dogs into loving, forever homes throughout the DC Metro area and surrounding areas. We are run entirely by dedicated volunteers and do not receive any public funding. Funding is derived entirely from fundraising and donations offered by individuals and local organizations who believe in our mission.
We are committed to helping the animals of our community and acting as a voice for the most vulnerable senior dogs. Dogs welcomed into Miri's Haven receive all necessary veterinary care, not excluding those dogs most medically needy. Our dogs are then placed into safe, loving foster homes where they continue to receive love and veterinary care unl adoption. For most, we seek and arrange perfect placement
in a permanent home, however, others will remain in our care as a sanctuary dog.

"I follow on FB and participate in Fundraisers when I can. This group is helping the ones that are forgotten. The ones that everyone writes off as too old, the not so fancy, the ones that have suffered so long and deserve their last years to be the best. I love everything they do and stand for!!! May everyone in this rescue receive the same love, care, and recognition of value when they grow old as they are providing for their sweet rescues. ❤️"

"I've been volunteering with Miri's for about three or four months now. What really moves me about Miri's is the fact that they NEVER get up on dogs even with all the health conditions they have. They let their dogs truly live out their lives to the best of their ability and fully embrace taking in a lot of special needs dogs. The volunteering community and love is just unparalleled, and it's very rarely that we do not find someone up to help with these senior dogs."

"We rescued our Brad from them in Sept 2022. He is our 1st older rescued pup. I fostered for a time as well, before needing to stop. I had fostered 4 and I also volunteered to dog sit while fosters vacationed for 4 foster pups also. Miri's def have a heart to rescue senior pups even when 1 has just days left, simply because their heart is huge and believes every dog should be loved even at the end, my belief as well."

"We adopted our guy from Miri's last year and have continued to support them as they take in older, in need pets. Great organization."

"Miri’s Haven works extremely hard to help older dogs. Senior dogs are often overlooked and the rescue does an awesome job of educating people on the benefits of adopting an older dog. They make sure that dogs in their care have all medical and grooming needs taken care of and alway disclose special needs and expenses to potential adopters. Last but not least, they carefully screen potential adopters to ensure the dogs in their care are going to a good home."

David Adams is a man of many passions, but his love for dogs stands above all. He is not only a dog lover, but also the founder of an innovative platform called Sniffspot. This unique platform connects dog owners with private property owners who are willing to rent out their space for off-leash playtime. While the idea of Sniffspot was initially conceived by his wife, Rebecca, David has been the driving force behind its remarkable success, tirelessly overseeing its growth and development.
David's dedication to providing safe and enjoyable spaces for dogs to play, explore, and socialize is evident in his unwavering commitment to Sniffspot. He strongly believes that dogs need ample space and opportunities to stretch their legs and have fun. As a result, he has worked tirelessly to build a network of private property owners across the country who share his vision and are willing to offer their space for the benefit of dogs and their owners.
Despite his busy schedule, David always finds time to indulge in his passion for the great outdoors. He loves nothing more than exploring new hiking trails and embarking on thrilling outdoor adventures. Whenever he is not working on Sniffspot, he can often be found hiking or visiting multi-acre fenced sniffspots with his two beloved dogs, Soba and Toshii. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys the fresh air, breathtaking scenery, and the sense of freedom that comes with being in nature.
David is based in Salem, MA.
