A Pug’s comical face with deep wrinkles around big, dark eyes and a flat round face can’t help but make you smile. Pugs are little clowns at heart, but they carry themselves with dignity. Pugs are very playful, but are also lovers and must be close to their humans. Pugs love to be the center of attention and are heartsick if ignored. They have square, thick bodies, and usually weigh no more than 20 pounds.
Mission and Vision
Pugs are counting on you to support our mission. And our mission is simple: we find homes for abandoned and surrendered pugs. But we can’t do it without your generous support. Adoption fees rarely cover the cost of vetting and that is why we are so grateful for your gift of any amount. Open your heart and make a Pug’s life better.
Remember the pugs in your year end giving!!

Adoption Policy
ADOPTION PROCESS
Prior to filling out an application, please read through these things that you must know:
• All pets in your household MUST be spayed or neutered! (We will verify this with your Veterinarian).
• All pets in the household MUST be up to date on vaccines. (or have written vet notice as to why they don't receive vaccines.)
• Applicants must have a SECURE and PERMANENT fence with a padlock on the gate. (Only exceptions are those who live in apartments, townhouses and condo's)
• Pugs must be given monthly heart worm preventative.
• Pugs must be kept as indoor pets, never living outside.
• Pugs will NEVER be chained up.
• We can no longer adopt to homes where the owner has a doggy door or where large and/or bully breeds reside.
Complete Adoption Application
1. Complete and submit this Adoption Application. We cannot continue the adoption process without this.
2. All unrelated or unmarried adults living in the home or on the property MUST fill out a separate application complete with references and background intormation. If approved, each will be required to sign the adoption contract.
3. Criminal Background Check is required and will be performed on every person who resides in the home.
4. Landlord Pet policy verified if you rent your home, we must verify pets are allowed by your landlord.
5. Veterinary and Personal References Contacted. This process takes the longest time.
6. Home Visit scheduled. This step is required to ensure the home is safe and all household members agree to adopt a Pug. All persons living in the home including children are required to be present.
7. Approval/Denial. Our Adoption Coordinator (and other Board members as necessary) use the information provided on the application, background check, interviews, vet/reference checks, and home visit to determine an applicant’s suitability for adopting or fostering a dog. Our Adoption Coordinator will notify you of your status. We reserve the right to refuse any applicant for any reason if we feel the needs of the dog will not be properly met or the adoption is not in the best interest of the dog.
8. Submitting an application for a specific Pug does not guarantee your ability to adopt that Pug. Once you are approved to adopt, we realize there may have been a Pug or two you found on our website that you fell in love with and we do our very best to help you adopt that particular Pug, but we will need to “match” you with dogs in our program that meet your criteria and that we believe may be suitable for your family and lifestyle.
9. Post-Adoption Follow-up. To ensure all is going well with your adopted Pug, we will schedule 2 follow-up visits, one visit 2 weeks after adoption and a second visit 3-4 months after adoption.
10. Information for those wanting to Foster our Pugs. We choose which Foster Pug should be placed in your home. This decision is based on your environment, schedule and openess to foster any and all types of Pugs; senior, blind, deaf, etc. We want our fosters and Pugs to be comfortable and happy with the placement. The best interest of the Pug is always considered first.
Possible Reasons for a Denied Application:
• A home that is not compatible for a rescue pug
• References, both vet and personal, that do not check out.
• Other pets that may not be compatible with a rescue pug.
• Small children that may be too active for a rescue pug.
• Work hours of the adoptive parents.
• No secure fencing.
• Refusing criminal background check and/or home visit
• Pets residing in the home not vaccinated or spay/neutered
• Other reasons as determined by the Adoption Committee.

Get your dog the safe enrichment they need by renting a Sniffspot

David Adams is a man of many passions, but his love for dogs stands above all. He is not only a dog lover, but also the founder of an innovative platform called Sniffspot. This unique platform connects dog owners with private property owners who are willing to rent out their space for off-leash playtime. While the idea of Sniffspot was initially conceived by his wife, Rebecca, David has been the driving force behind its remarkable success, tirelessly overseeing its growth and development.
David's dedication to providing safe and enjoyable spaces for dogs to play, explore, and socialize is evident in his unwavering commitment to Sniffspot. He strongly believes that dogs need ample space and opportunities to stretch their legs and have fun. As a result, he has worked tirelessly to build a network of private property owners across the country who share his vision and are willing to offer their space for the benefit of dogs and their owners.
Despite his busy schedule, David always finds time to indulge in his passion for the great outdoors. He loves nothing more than exploring new hiking trails and embarking on thrilling outdoor adventures. Whenever he is not working on Sniffspot, he can often be found hiking or visiting multi-acre fenced sniffspots with his two beloved dogs, Soba and Toshii. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys the fresh air, breathtaking scenery, and the sense of freedom that comes with being in nature.
David is based in Salem, MA.
