They do incredible work saving dogs lives. I adopted my sweet Luna from them. She was found on the streets in Mexico and was terrified of humans. I’ve seen her blossom so much, she is so sweet and perfect. I’m very grateful for The Barking Lot.Melody Donboli
Located on 10 acres in San Diego County, we adopt to anywhere in the US and Canada. It's our goal to find an excellent match suited to both you and each of our Temporary Barkers. Having rescued over 9,000 dogs since our inception in 2006, we are primarily volunteer run with a soft spot for the underdogs. Our Temporary Barkers come from all over the world as we have partnerships with Soi Dog Foundation in Thailand, Four Paws in Cambodia/Vietnam and Ark119 in Korea from which we've taken in over 1000 dog meat trade survivors. We also rescue heavily from Mexico where the abandoned dog population is extensive, the neglect is vast and the stories are heart wrenching.
Mission and Vision
Giving dogs the lives they deserve.
Adoption Policy
Our adoption process includes an adoption application, a home check, a play date and an adoption contract. Most adopters visit us live to meet our Temporary Barkers, but we also have the capacity to conduct virtual play dates via video.

"I love The Barking Lot's commitment to their animals. They are dedicated to finding homes that are a good long term fit for their dogs. That takes a lot of extra effort to achieve, but its a priority for TBL. As a foster I loved knowing my foster dogs would end up in a great home due to TBL's adoption process. As a volunteer I loved the rescue's commitment to dogs that needed special attention. I also like the doggie daycare style facilities that allow the dogs to get out of the kennel and socialize while they are waiting for their forever home."

"I adopted my pup, Clementine, from these wonderful, caring individuals. She has brought so much love and joy to my life and I will be forever grateful for their part in rescuing her from a horrific living condition in Mexico.
Clementine has the best life now and truly I do now too."

"We have adopted 5 wonderful rescue dogs from The Barking Lot and we recommend them to everyone we know who is looking for a doggy to adopt. They take great care of their dogs and allow adopters plenty of time to meet and interact with dogs to find the best fit for their family. The Barking Lot is the absolute best!"

"The Barking Lot gave us our best friend! They were extremely helpful during the process during the height of covid. They are always keeping us up to date on what is going on through social media. When we are ready for a second dog, we will definitely work with them again!"

"The barking lot and their team and leader- are first class. They care deeply for every dog they rescue and really work diligently to find their forever homes. After we adopted, Stacy and her team were there to support us with resources to help our transition into dog parents. They care about the animal even when it is no longer in their care. I would adopt again from them in a heartbeat."

Get your dog the safe enrichment they need by renting a Sniffspot

David Adams is a man of many passions, but his love for dogs stands above all. He is not only a dog lover, but also the founder of an innovative platform called Sniffspot. This unique platform connects dog owners with private property owners who are willing to rent out their space for off-leash playtime. While the idea of Sniffspot was initially conceived by his wife, Rebecca, David has been the driving force behind its remarkable success, tirelessly overseeing its growth and development.
David's dedication to providing safe and enjoyable spaces for dogs to play, explore, and socialize is evident in his unwavering commitment to Sniffspot. He strongly believes that dogs need ample space and opportunities to stretch their legs and have fun. As a result, he has worked tirelessly to build a network of private property owners across the country who share his vision and are willing to offer their space for the benefit of dogs and their owners.
Despite his busy schedule, David always finds time to indulge in his passion for the great outdoors. He loves nothing more than exploring new hiking trails and embarking on thrilling outdoor adventures. Whenever he is not working on Sniffspot, he can often be found hiking or visiting multi-acre fenced sniffspots with his two beloved dogs, Soba and Toshii. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys the fresh air, breathtaking scenery, and the sense of freedom that comes with being in nature.
David is based in Salem, MA.
