Come explore the trail behind Wrightwood Place. Originally built by John Wilkins (Red Barn Opry founder) it leads to John’s cross and then up the hillside about a quarter mile to the Angeles National Forest. Moderate to difficult due to slippery hillsides, poorly marked switch backs, and fallen trees. But great views! Hazards: UNFENCED! Coyotes, rattlesnakes, cougars, and other wildlife. Sharp plants and rocks. And stuff I don’t even know about yet. There is a water spigot just below the trailhead. I’ll unlock the restrooms for you if you let me know you are coming.

This was our first Sniffspot and my boy Kuma loved it! He’s a seasoned hiker so it was really great to explore on the trails off leash. The instructions were clear and there were a few Sniffspot signs (even for parking) to indicate we were going the right way. We’re looking forward to returning!

This is one of the coolest sniffspots I’ve taken my dogs to! They LOVED getting to hike off leash and had a blast sniffing around. We didn’t run into anyone and had an easy time finding the start of the trail. Highly recommend to anyone looking to do something different with their dog!

The spot was great. I didn’t walk the fire road, I just stuck to the short trails around the hill. The trails on the hill were rugged but short and easy to follow. My 13y/o beagle went up no problem.

I loved this place and should have booked longer than an hour. The host was extremely kind and welcoming, reminding us there were bathrooms, a fridge if needed, and water. The grounds are vast and clean, with beautiful views. My doggy, Lulu, loved it. There are multiple trails and signs at the head to guide you (if you pay attention)

There is a sign showing where to park your car, just look down at curb level as opposed to eye level. There is a sign on the bridge to the left as you walk in indicating the path. There are several other signs pointing to other trails to the right, however, I am not clear if we are allowed to go on them. Once you walk up the Sniffspot trail, it can get a little steep. Continue on the fence line and we think if you cross over a wire that is where the open dog run is, but we were not 100% sure as we didn’t have to cross a wire. beautiful views didn’t see of another person or any other dogs. Overall great experience dogs loved it and it was quite relaxing to be on the trails.

One of the coolest spots I've seen! The trails are really nice and clear with signage around the spot to help you navigate. We found several really nice viewpoints, and a spot to play fetch. I would definitely dress for a bit of a hike with this one with some sturdy shoes. 1000000% recommend and would visit again!

Great trail! Moderate hike, so make sure you have tread on your shoes for steep grades. Up to the top and back down took us 1 hour. Parking is easy… at the end of Moy Street you will see a parking spot with the SniffSpot logo painted on it. Our dog had the best time ever for his 5th birthday celebration hike 🥳! Will be back again!

Dogs had a blast! I went for the hike/trails which I would say is intermediate. Definitely wear good shoes. But there is small-medium size area to play fetch/relax. Dogs being able to be off-leash to run and explore is fabulous for them! I will definitely be coming back. I booked 2hrs and think next time I’ll do 2.5hrs. Host was very kind and prompt in answering few questions I had via message. Only nit-pick is trail could use more signs.

Really great spot for hiking with views. Once you make it past the beginning portion it becomes a traditional looking trail and is very serene and quiet. The owner was there and was very welcoming and hospitable as well. Will return.

This truly is like having your own private Runyon Canyon. Definitely must wear hiking attire and shoes, and be able to hike a significant incline for quite a bit. The uphill hiking part continues all the way until you hit the fire road at the top.We were able to enjoy the space almost public-free despite it being mid-morning on a weekend. On our way back down we ran into a guy with two dogs who I assume lived in one of the neighboring houses, where there is a short trail that links up with her property and is a shortcut for them to get up to the fire road and another public hike. There was enough space so that I could get off the trail with my dog and allow them to pass. We enjoyed ourselves very much and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. Will definitely come back again!

Wonderful spot! It is my dog's absolute favorite adventure. The terrain can get steep at some times as a warning, but the steepness is my dog's favorite part of this place--she LOVESSS climbing and jumping up steep portions. We did not encounter any wildlife other than maybe a few lizards. My dog is incredibly nervous around loud noises and unfamiliar places, but this place is super secluded and quiet and my dog has had no issues opening up and exploring! :) Robin is also an amazing & responsive host.

Really nice bit of trails! I wanted to take my puppy on a hike without people nor other dogs and this was perfect! Her fur still smells sweet like the desert flowers and she was very very happy.

Really beautiful place. The instructions and signage are confusing but it seems like they are in the process of making some changes. We were surprised by someone working on the trail which could have been an issue had I decided to unleash my dog before then. Owner doesn’t seem to respond to messages, but again…seems like they are working out some kinks.

i have a hyper and reactive dog, and this place is perfect for us. there was only us all through the end. the place is clean and easy to follow as you can see a lot of signs as you walk through the trails. beautiful view as well! we’ll be back for sure, thank you so much! we love

This wasn't ideal spot for our senior boy, but he would have loved it in his prime! It is a very steep climb so make sure you wear hiking specific shoes. Robin was very kind!

This was, by far, my dog's favorite experience in his lifetime. He had so much fun and was definitely in his element. Robin is a wonderful host. Very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this Sniffspot location. As many others have mentioned, this spot has fairly steep terrain. So, I suggest wearing appropriate shoes and be a somewhat experienced hiker. Will definitely visit again as well as explore his other location.

I drove to Moorpark by mistake and it took me an hour to get back to the actual spot, Robin very nice about it and very responsive. The hike is a bit hard but it was awesome to take some energy out of my puppy. Loved this place and will definitely come back!

This was our first time using Sniffspot and we had a great time hiking the trail! My dog is reactive with other dogs so places we can go for long walk or hiking are very limited. We were able to walk peacefully without seeing any dogs on the trail today and the host Robin was very kind and accommodating. Some parts of the trail are steep but my friend's little kids who joined us were able to finish the hike without any issues. We will definitely come back !

After I figured out where to go it was great. The dogs got to run around as much as they wanted and it really tired them out! I would suggest that they clarify things a little. When the instructions said to take the riverbed (creekbed?) trail I started walking where it looked like there used to be a stream since there were no signs. That was not correct. But the dogs didn’t mind and our mission to get outside and get their energy out while practicing their recall was accomplished.

While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. With a Sniffspot off-leash area all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars. Our hiking trails tend to be outside the city, which lends to more privacy, but it is also important to follow typical hiking safety precautions, such as potentially having trail maps.

In order to hike the trails, we require that all dogs have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not permit dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules.

Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot hiking trail at the same time as me?

Sniffspot only allows one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the spot during visits. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings.
