55If I could give this place 10 stars I would! It is difficult to find a real trail for my large, reactive/fearful dogs to walk off leash. The Oregon Trail is PERFECT! A not-too-long, well maintained, SHADY trail with wonderful dog and people amenities. My dogs are not swimming dogs but they loved the little stream and pond for splashing around and cooling off. I drove to Tanya's place from Colorado Springs and though it's a bit of a drive it is totally worth it and the local area is so pretty. We will be back and I am beyond thankful that there is just a wonderful place for my dogs and I to walk. Amy P.

55I can’t say enough positive things about our visit to the Oregon Trail this afternoon. I wish I could take my dogs everyday! My expectations were exceeded! The trail was easy to find and well maintained. The walk down was easy and once we got to the bottom, there were toys to play with, fresh water to drink for both dogs and people and there were even comfy swings for us to sit while the dogs explored and played. Both dogs had a great time playing in the water and fetching. It was so pleasant for our anxious older dog and our younger dog was as happy as can be. We will definitely be back as soon as another free day arises! Thank you!!!Karen O.

55Amazing SniffSpot! Very worth the drive from Denver! The views going in and out are amazing but then dense forest during the walking portion. A little steep with loose gravel so be cautious on the down hill! Water, first aid kit, toilet paper, dog toys, and seating all provided!! We were very comfortable and the dogs ran their hearts out! They also loved the small creek! 10/10 will be back again! Julianne Y.

55We’ve visited a few spots with a lot of acreage listed and there ended up being so little that could be explored safely. The Oregon Trail, while not particularly long, had lots of accessible areas for dogs down the entirety of it. The trees and shrubs were perfect for keeping it cool while not hiding your pets from view. The water today was more of a trickle but with the amount of shade that would be produced, we didn’t feel like we were missing out on anything. My dog particularly enjoyed the “tunnels” at the end, even at 50 pounds. She is usually too unsure to try but decided to go in both. We actually went up and down twice to give her time to settle down and feel comfortable exploring.
Helpful hints: Some parts of the trail are steeper than others, and the gravel is loose. Wear shoes with some traction that are more stable. Also, I would bring my hiking poles next time. Not because of the difficulty, just for the extra stability. We walked off trail in a couple areas and the stick I found to use was very helpful.
The drive was easy to make and directions on my phone were accurate. We saw a lot of wildlife once off of 85, but the trail area was quiet. We will be back and I know my other dog will love it too. Jovita P.

55It may sound silly to some, but having a reactive dog, I never would have dared to imagine having the opportunity to visit a place like this with him. The absolute joy of seeing our dog in the mountains, sniffing and romping and splashing in a creek, all with the knowledge that we had this magical space all to ourselves. Unbelievable! We even enjoyed the drive up. The directions were easy to follow and the trail was well marked. The swing at the play area was an excellent and appreciated addition. Thank you for making your beautiful mountain hideaway part of the Sniffspot family. Stacey R.

55Our second time back this evening and it was better than the first!
First of all, in between a couple of planes, this was the absolute quietest space I've found myself in. It was so refreshing, it felt like a reset for me.
The scenery on the property and also the drive - is just so pretty. 30 minutes from my place in HR, and it gets rural quickly.
They cleared out a bunch of brush along the creek bed and it was my boys favorite new spot to play! We really enjoyed this new feature, it was a lot of fun to play fetch along! I really hope they clear more along the creek (wink, wink).
The new bench swings are heavenly. And so handsomely built. The new water jugs with cups provided were a life saver.
630-730pm was perfect timing. It was 75-80 degrees and shaded, just perfect. Our hour was up WAY too fast. Will be back this weekend!Cale B.

55We had so much fun at this spot! The directions were very clear and easy to follow. We appreciated the water and dog bowls at the bottom, and all the poop bags/buckets along the way. We went earlier in the morning but with the amount of shade and the water spot at the bottom, this would be nice during the afternoon too. This has to be one of the top sniff spots we have visited. 55Beautiful spot for recharge from city bustle. My little big hippo loved the ‘pond.’ Although today wasn’t scorching (yet), this is a great shaded zone as compared to some of the more exposed high acreage Sniffspots on farms. Easy to find thanks to signage on gate and host directions. We hope to be back soon!Susanna K.

55We loved Tanya’s mountain spot! There was so much to explore and very safe for our new dogs who are just learning to explore life off-leash. The water at the base of the trail was great as was all the amenities, especially the poop buckets which are strategically placed throughout the trail.
Make sure to read the instructions to the location as it can be easy to miss and you don’t want to end up at the neighbors house! Directions are very detailed and easy to follow just be smarter than us and read the email before heading out.

55A lovely walk in the woods with a little creek at the end for splashing about. Cool and shady, and very clean - the 3 poop buckets along the road are very thoughtful, as is the water station and bench swings at the end. My two enjoyed exploring.
TIP: Wear good walking shoes, the way down is quite steep in parts with gravel. There are some decent looking sticks placed near the top - next time I'll use one to walk down, and replace on the way back up.

FAQ about our Sedalia dog hiking trails
Are dog hiking trails safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. With a Sniffspot off-leash area all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars. Our hiking trails tend to be outside the city, which lends to more privacy, but it is also important to follow typical hiking safety precautions, such as potentially having trail maps.
How do I know if a dog hiking trail works for my dog?
Sniffspot provides the tools to find the ideal spot. Start by applying basic filters, such as fencing 6 feet tall and distractions, to find a dog park with trails that works for your dog. You can also filter by size if you are looking for a certain acre park, an expansive off-leash dog park. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our fully fenced dog hiking trails. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our dog hiking trails where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. Since you are looking for trails, make sure to check photos to see if it the spot has flat trails or gnarly trails. You can also browse by specific amenities, if you are looking for a view or a beach, for instance, or other activities or fun features. You can check whether the spot has off or on street parking, the regular park hours, whether it has paved trails or a modern restroom.
What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot dog hiking trail?
In order to hike the trails, we require that all dogs have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not permit dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules.
Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot hiking trail at the same time as me?
Sniffspot only allows one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the spot during visits. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings.
How much do Sniffspot hiking trails cost?
Dog hiking trails in the Sedalia area range from $9.0 and $9.0. The least expensive dog hiking trail is Seattle backyard doggie paradise!. The most expensive dog hiking trail is Seattle backyard doggie paradise!. Each host sets their own price, so you can check the price on the specific Sniffspot dog park listing.
