55The pups had a wonderful time exploring and swimming 🤣 it was crazy cold but they were having a blast. One dog had his first real swim, the other already a pro thought she could catch the geese. She did an excellent recall thank goodness cause I’m sure the geese would for sure win 🤣 they came back at the end to snooze the night away so happy and content ❤️ loved every bit of the property!Carrie B.

55We visit this spot almost every weekend and its always wonderful! My girl is pooped for the rest of the day because she is non-stop running. I forgot to mention in other reviews that if you have a dog that likes water, there is access to the river that runs adjacent to the property. Barbara O.

55I cant tell you how excited my dane was when we pulled up to this spot after it was shut down for almost 2 months because it had to be hayed. She absolutely loves it here. So much to sniff and explore. When the vegetation dies down in the fall, there is a lovely river to enjoy if your pup likes to get wet. Not really deep enough for my girl to swim in. Barbara O.

55We had a great time exploring this Sniffspot! We started in the fully fenced open meadow which is on the immediate left upon entering the property. We only spent 15 minutes in that area as we visited on a very hot day and there was no shade in that part of the property. We spent the rest of our time in the partially fenced meadow and woodlands. Even though it isn’t fully fenced most of the property has natural borders, i.e., heavy vegetation and I felt very safe and confident that my reactive dog would not get outside the boundaries. There are two water areas for pups to cool off - a pond and a creek. My dog spent a lot time splashing around in both of them. We also enjoyed exploring the woodlands - be sure to wear good shoes and long pants as there aren’t a lot of cleared trails and there is quite a bit of vegetation to make your way through. Overall, there was plenty of territory to explore and we easily spent our 90 minutes on this property without getting bored. It definitely provided a lot of interesting “sniffs” for my dog. Highly recommended spot!!Bonnie B.

55This is definitely one of our favorite sniffspots. We loved having the huge pasture to run off leash then used the long lead to let him explore the river and woods. For the fenced in pasture we did use our leash to secure the gate because a strong dog like mine could push it open. The rest of the fencing was very secure. As others mentioned there are trains going by. We liked seeing the trains and our dog was fine with them. We can't wait to go back! Jennifer S.

55Big open hay field type of space. Fence was secure all the way around, and I didn't notice any hazards. My puppy was too busy sniffing and pouncing on bugs to do much running but this would be perfect for dogs who need a good run, or folks with multiple dogs. I appreciated communication from the host, and it was easy to find. No shade, so expect to get hot if it's sunny. I would book this sniffspot again.Stephanie O.

55This was a perfect stop on a long drive- close to I-5 and easy to get to. Communication with the host was great and directions for access were clear. We spent all of our time in the fully fenced 9 acres, which was a huge field, with a river on one side, more fields and woods on two sides, and rail road tracks on the last side. There were 2 trains passing over an hour and a half and the first concerned one of our dogs, who hasn't been close to many trains. But it is an excellent spot to desensitize to trains, as you can get as close or as far away as you want and the fencing is secure. There were barking and visible dogs up hill from the sniff spot- separated from us by a good distance and at least 2 fences, the railroad tracks, and a road. Our dogs hardly noticed, but a very dog reactive dog might be concerned. The fencing seemed secure and in good repair and it felt very safe to just let our dogs run and play. There is a lot more land to explore, but not with dog proof fencing, so would just require a bit more vigilance to keep track of dogs. We hope to incorporate more visits into our trips through the area.Kate S.

55This is pretty much exactly as the pics and descriptions imply- a huge open field with 4' fencing. The dogs had an incredible romp and left exhausted from roaming in the fenced field, so we did not leash up and explore the other areas, but hope we could do so in the future. As another reviewer mentioned, sound sensitive dogs could be fearful of the trains on the nearby tracks. Claire responded to my question in a super prompt and friendly way as well. Karen J.

55Our second visit to this great Sniffspot right off of I-5, perfect for a stop when traveling between Puget Sound and Oregon. The 9 acre field is huge! One hour is just about right to do 2 loops around the big field. And there's quite a bit more land that we've yet to explore. Barking from distant neighbor dogs and trains going by, but neither bothered our dogs. Feels very safe and secure.Kate S.

55Claire is a very communicative host and very welcoming. We were early and she invited us to go in and enjoy our time. There’s a huge field to romp and big creek to swim in. So bring towels. The place was easy to find. If your dog is reactive to the sounds of train- it might be a problem. Mine was fine. They were busy exploring the creek to take notice. The pups had a blast. We will come again. Kate T.

FAQ about our South Bend dog parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 97% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the South Bend area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 14 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 1 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
