Rocket Dog pulls animals from high kill shelters and has an urban sanctuary as well as the most dedicated team of foster families that help them rescue even more dogs. They are volunteer run and these people are amazing humans. The dogs are treated with so much kindness, love and respect. Oftentimes it’s the first time a dog has ever experienced this from a human. They rescue dogs of all breeds and ages. Their adoption fee is reasonable. They do so much community outreach to find loving homes for all of their dogs. They are a last chance for the dogs. Dogs rescued by Rocket Dog are the luckiest dogs. Their passion for what they do is so evident. They rely on volunteers and donations. I adopted my sweet boy from Rocket Dog and he had the most amazing foster home who loved him until he found his forever home with me. Everyone I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with there has been the most wonderful people. They are in desperate need for more funding and donations so they can continue to do what they do best which is save the lives of dogs. Being in the Bay Area the cost to run a rescue is so expensive. Once the dogs are adopted they don’t forget about them. Once a Rocket Dog always a Rocket Dog. My pup wears his purple Rocket Dog star with pride. Rocket Dog deserves so much because they truly are the best of the best.Jennifer Walsh
Rocket Dog Rescue saves dogs from abuse, neglect, and death at overcrowded shelters and places them in loving homes. We support pet owners in need in our community, and serve as first responders in emergency animal situations and natural disasters. Funded entirely by donations, we are a volunteer-run, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Learn about what we do or apply to adopt a dog in the San Francisco Bay Area
Mission and Vision
Rocket Dog Rescue is a volunteer-based organization serving the greater Bay Area, dedicated to saving homeless and abandoned dogs from over crowded animal shelters. We also help dogs from other areas that have compelling situations where they are in danger of abuse, neglect or euthanasia. Rocket Dog Rescue places dogs into temporary foster homes where they are socialized, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical or behavioral conditions limiting their adoptability. RDR actively searches for permanent homes for its foster dogs through its website and ongoing mobile adoption fairs and special events, which introduce our animals to potential adopters. Rocket Dog Rescue also provides assistance to individuals and animal rescue groups fostering dogs in need of permanent new homes.
Adoption Policy
Rocket Dog Rescue is looking for responsible and caring people to give our dogs their much needed second chance at happiness and stability. The following are just a few initial guidelines you should consider before deciding to adopt:Must be at least 21 years old (We look for stable renter's history.)Home visit may be required, in person or virtually.Adoption fee is $400. Your adoption donation covers the animal's spay or neuter, vaccines, microchipping, and flea treatment and deworming as needed.Must be allowed to have dogs where you live, and be able to provide proof (copy of lease, HOA rules, etc.)Must live in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Please note, we do not adopt animals outside the state of California. An Important Note on 'Breed RestrictionsSome landlords, HOAs, and insurance providers restrict certain ‚breeds or sizes of dog. The vast majority of Rocket Dogs are of mixed and undermined breed(s), and our limited resources mean we simply have to make our best guess based on appearances. This approach, while common, is less than scientific and not very accurate. Our friends over at the Animal Farm Foundation have some great information on the science of how dogs are individuals, rather than a collection of breed traits. They're a particularly helpful resource for dispelling misinformation about pit bull-type dogs, which is a general term used to describe many different breeds of dog with visually similar features. However, some landlords, HOAs, and home insurance providers will not allow or cover dogs of certain breeds or sizes based on the dog's appearance. We always recommend renters review their lease terms for restrictions, and home owners review their HOA agreements and/or home owner's insurance policies before adopting any dog. Animal Farm Foundation also has helpful resources for renters and landlords

Get your dog the safe enrichment they need by renting a Sniffspot

David Adams is a man of many passions, but his love for dogs stands above all. He is not only a dog lover, but also the founder of an innovative platform called Sniffspot. This unique platform connects dog owners with private property owners who are willing to rent out their space for off-leash playtime. While the idea of Sniffspot was initially conceived by his wife, Rebecca, David has been the driving force behind its remarkable success, tirelessly overseeing its growth and development.
David's dedication to providing safe and enjoyable spaces for dogs to play, explore, and socialize is evident in his unwavering commitment to Sniffspot. He strongly believes that dogs need ample space and opportunities to stretch their legs and have fun. As a result, he has worked tirelessly to build a network of private property owners across the country who share his vision and are willing to offer their space for the benefit of dogs and their owners.
Despite his busy schedule, David always finds time to indulge in his passion for the great outdoors. He loves nothing more than exploring new hiking trails and embarking on thrilling outdoor adventures. Whenever he is not working on Sniffspot, he can often be found hiking or visiting multi-acre fenced sniffspots with his two beloved dogs, Soba and Toshii. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys the fresh air, breathtaking scenery, and the sense of freedom that comes with being in nature.
David is based in Salem, MA.
