Established in 2005, The Fuzzy Pet Foundation (TFPF) is a dedicated team of volunteers fervently committed to alleviating companion animal homelessness in Southern California and beyond.
Each year, we rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home approximately 200 cats and dogs, providing them with comprehensive veterinary care. Our commitment goes beyond immediate care; we socialize these animals and, through an extensive screening process that includes home-checks, we ensure they are placed into responsible and loving homes.
TFPF also offers indispensable spay/neuter services, aiming to prevent animals from reproducing and adding to the number of animals living in challenging conditions.
Our proactive local animal rescue efforts involve navigating sewers, junkyards, and trees, dodging traffic, and gently coaxing frightened strays to safety. Moreover, we extend our outreach to impoverished communities throughout Southern California, delivering food, toys, doghouses, and bedding to animals who may have never experienced human kindness before.
Our volunteers tirelessly educate the public within Southern California communities, many of whom may be unaware of the essential elements of responsible animal care. We devote numerous hours to counseling animal guardians on humane care practices, such as the importance of keeping cats and dogs indoors with their families and promoting the crucial role of spay/neuter procedures.
We never turn a blind eye to neglected, unloved, and homeless animals. Instead, we welcome them into our care, always striving to find them forever homes filled with love and responsibility. Additionally, we transport stray cats and dogs to open-admission shelters to ensure they receive the necessary veterinary care and are kept off the streets.
Our commitment to animals is unyielding. We pledge to always stand by cats and dogs in need, ensuring they feel loved, safe, and cared for, in a world where they are all too often overlooked.

Adoption Policy
Adoption procedure at TFPF?
1. ADOPTABLE PET SEARCH – To find an adoptable cat or dog, you can begin your search using our website. We have a wide variety of cats and dogs in our care who are all deserving of a loving, responsible, and lifelong home.
If you are not sure which cat or dog might be perfect for you, our volunteers would be delighted to help! Simply e-mail us here, and we can serve as your matchmaker.
2. APPLICATION – If you are interested in adopting a cat or dog in our care, please complete an online application that includes information about you, your living situation, other people and pets in your household, and how you plan on caring for your new cat or dog.
3. VET & PERSONAL REFERENCES – In addition to providing us with the name and contact information of your past and/or current veterinarian, you will be asked to list two personal references who can be reached via phone.
4. SELECTION PROCESS – Each application is thoroughly reviewed by TFPF. Selection is based on compatibility with the best interests of you and the adoptable cat or dog in mind. Please note there may be multiple candidates deserving consideration. Final selection is made at the sole discretion of TFPF. We want the best for everyone!
5. HOME VISIT – There is a home visit required to evaluate what type of home the individual or family can provide the cat or dog. Along with compatibility, we assess the location for safety and security.
6. CONTRACT & FEE – If you have been selected you will be asked to sign a legally-binding contract with TFPF.
There is an adoption fee to help defray costs of spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, de-worming, de-fleaing, microchipping, fecal examination, complete blood count, as well as FeLV/FIV testing for cats. The adoption fee can vary depending on the extent of veterinary care the cat or dog needed while at TFPF.
7. REQUIREMENTS FULFILLED – Once requirements are fulfilled, the adoption is finalized!
8. RETURN PET TO TFPF IF YOU DO NOT PLAN TO KEEP HIM/HER – If, for any reason, you are unable to keep or provide proper care for the cat or dog you adopted from TFPF, we require that you return him/her to TFPF. Our cats and dogs cannot be transferred, sold, or given to a third-party. No exceptions.

Get your dog the safe enrichment they need by renting a Sniffspot

David Adams is a man of many passions, but his love for dogs stands above all. He is not only a dog lover, but also the founder of an innovative platform called Sniffspot. This unique platform connects dog owners with private property owners who are willing to rent out their space for off-leash playtime. While the idea of Sniffspot was initially conceived by his wife, Rebecca, David has been the driving force behind its remarkable success, tirelessly overseeing its growth and development.
David's dedication to providing safe and enjoyable spaces for dogs to play, explore, and socialize is evident in his unwavering commitment to Sniffspot. He strongly believes that dogs need ample space and opportunities to stretch their legs and have fun. As a result, he has worked tirelessly to build a network of private property owners across the country who share his vision and are willing to offer their space for the benefit of dogs and their owners.
Despite his busy schedule, David always finds time to indulge in his passion for the great outdoors. He loves nothing more than exploring new hiking trails and embarking on thrilling outdoor adventures. Whenever he is not working on Sniffspot, he can often be found hiking or visiting multi-acre fenced sniffspots with his two beloved dogs, Soba and Toshii. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys the fresh air, breathtaking scenery, and the sense of freedom that comes with being in nature.
David is based in Salem, MA.
