55This was a great Sniffspot!! There are two areas with trails. We only explored one of the areas. The mowed trails weave through a mixed deciduous woodland. There is a picnic table in small, sunny open area in the woods.
The Sniffspot is was easy to find and the host emailed great directions. Host is great. She even was kind enough to come out and point out where the trails start since I wasn’t 100% sure.
There are some ducks, geese, and a donkey near the house, which are visible from one portion of the trail system. Was not an issue for my pup but something to be aware of.
We will definitely return! Next time I will bring my binoculars as it is great habitat for birds. Tracey K.

55This was AMAZING!! We just hung out in the wooded fenced-in area… this place was huge! I believe that whole area is fenced in per the host, but my dog doesn’t have perfect recall & I didn’t want her chasing after a random small animal into the bushes so we kept her on a 50 ft long line and it was still very very fun!! Also, there were ducks, chickens and a very friendly donkey too near the fence!! This place was so nice to explore with my pup. We will be back :) Kristina B.

55I really enjoyed this space! The host provided sunscreen and bug spray and it was very clear where the open space was.
I did not let my dog off the long line because she can't be trusted around other animals but I did tie her to a long line for half the time and there was lots for her to explore. We spent half the time walking and half the time just sitting. So relaxing to know that a random dog won't just come up. The gate is wide enough that a small dog would be able to escape easily though.
She did get a lot of seed pods on her just from sniffing but she's just a hound dog so it came out really easily but if you have a dog with dense fur it might be troublesome to detangle.Julia Z.

55Wonderful and awesome! The winding trails offered lots of variety. I kept my dog on a 50 foot lead and that gave him plenty of room to roam and sniff. Very clean and trails are well kept. The host was quick to respond to questions. Will definitely be back! Thank you so much for sharing this space with our pets who need a more controlled environmentSusan B.

55It was so beautiful and private! There’s water for your dog, animals to see (through a fence), and tons of trails! My dog Cash was very excited. Once he calmed down he roamed free with us and loved it. We made sure he was always leashed when near the animals, though, to be prudent. It was an awesome experience and my dog is currently down for the count as I’m writing thisJackie J.

55What an amazing spot! We drove over 45 minutes and it was worth it! This is a wonderful spot with LOTS of space to explore. The trails are all labeled and intertwined so you will always know where you are. Our old girl Maggie loved being off leash and sniffing and our big guy enjoyed having more freedom on a really long leash than he usually gets on trail walks. There’s tons of amenities including poop bags, agility equipment, brushes, a picnic bench and towels in case your pups get muddy! The host takes amazing care of the trails and is so hospitable. Definitely will be back again. Jennifer P.

FAQ about our Marengo dog hiking trails
Are dog hiking trails safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. With a Sniffspot off-leash area all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars. Our hiking trails tend to be outside the city, which lends to more privacy, but it is also important to follow typical hiking safety precautions, such as potentially having trail maps.
