We offer five acres of partially mowed fields and a natural wooded area. There is a small pond and access to South Prairie Creek. The creek has a variable current, so it may be best for larger dogs. The pond would be ideal for smaller dogs who aren't strong swimmers. Trails began as deer/elk trails but have been improved. There are some small logs and rocks here and there to step over so sturdy shoes are recommended. The leaves that cover the trails in the fall may be a little slippery, so take care.

A .63 acre dog sanctuary for you and your pup. The yard is well maintained with dog friendly grass and has incredible views of the Hood Canal and Puget Sound. If you're interested, there is private beach access for you and your pup to explore miles of beach (public but almost always empty). There are numerous dog toys available and a massive 6+ person, dog friendly couch (late Spring to early Fall) you can relax on and watch the canal when you need a break! Regarding the beach, there are approximately 50 steps which you will need to climb up and down to access the beach so please wear proper footwear. As this is on the Hood Canal and not a lake or a pond, tides impact the size of the beach. If you are hoping to walk endless miles of beach, the tide will need to be at 2ft or below. Anything under 4ft will give you a massive area (probably 1/2 mile or more) and almost guaranteed private area as only people with stairs can access the beach at this tide level. Though the beach is open at any point, I think the maximum height you would probably want to go is about 6.5ft. This still gives you and your dog a decent sized area to play in (approximately 500ft by 30ft or 1/2 acre). Photos 16 and 17 show the beach at 6.25ft with a very large sandy area for you and your pup to play in. Anything above 6.5 ft is not recommended as the beach just gets thinner and thinner, but you're able to try if you want. (no refunds given if you don't like what you find). You are responsible for checking out the tides before you go. Legally, I can't recommend any specific source for you to use, but you might find good information Googling "tide chart port ludlow". Regarding ADA Accessibility, my property is on a gently sloping hill. To access it, there are 2 very wide concrete steps to get to the grass. This would be doable for someone on crutches and probably ok for a regular wheelchair if you had a second person to help lower you to each step and pull you up. It's definitely not accessible to a motorized wheelchair. Sorry. Note - restroom is only available if I'm home, otherwise there is one approximately 2 miles northwest at the gas station in Port Ludlow

Great spot. Our dog really enjoyed sniffing along the riverbank. It's spawning season, so there are a lot of dead fish on the bank- this could be a problem if your dog is the kind that will try to eat or roll in dead fish. Our dog doesn't do that sort of thing, fortunately.

Great spot, the river is amazing and peaceful. We had a blast! Directions and map were very helpful and Robin was a great communicator. Overall great experience. My only feedback is a I wish there was a garbage bin at the beginning of the field or somewhere accessible. I totally support picking up my dog’s poo- but I wasn’t a huge fan of having to bring it back in my car with me to find the nearest gas station. 🙃

We loved our first visit to Pajo Ranch! Definitely needed more time and a picnic basket! We walked the trails several times going back to the river again and again for a splash and a drink. We drove all the way down to the woods entrance easily in my SUV. The maple trees on the property are gigantic and enchanting, be sure to look for them.

10/10! will be visiting frequently, we brought six puppers and didnt even touch the whole property. We only had an hour slot but would have loved a 4 hr! The river was our dogs favorite spot (probably because of all the dead fish they got to roll in) bring towels until summer is back! we drove basically to the woods.

We love this spot and come here often. Robin is really nice and helpful, and it’s a beautiful place for a long walk. If your dog is uncomfortable around other dogs, or if you aren’t comfortable with strange dogs, I would recommend driving at least past where the big gray house is to the left of the field. We have had a small brown dog come out from the bushes onto the dirt road barking at us twice now in the morning. We were able to walk out of sight and wait it out for a few minutes and then pass without incident, but if you are able to drive past that spot you won’t see it. I think the road is pretty passable, we just actually really like walking the dirt road in addition to the forest trails for the extra distance even if it’s on leash, but I know a lot of people drive all the way to the woods anyway, and if that’s the case you shouldn’t have any issue at all.

What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot park?

We require that all dogs have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not allow dogs with a bite history. We require that owners sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules. We also require that pet owners follow safety protocols around water features.

Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot park at the same time as me?

No. We only allow one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the area during visits. So when you book a Sniffspot park you have the entire place to yourself and your dog-owning friends if you invite them. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings so you will not run into other park patrons when coming or leaving.
