Long and short grass *currently approx 1/3 mowed, the rest is a field of high grass. There is a trail mowed around outside a few through center*, slight hills, a sand pile and dirt to dig in too! We are a farm animal sanctuary and wildlife friendly. There may be long grass, insects, farm animal poo and other farmy stuff. Fun smell things such as feathers, wool, horse hair etc is added for dogs to sniff. All is cruelty free. WINTER: Seasonal pond takes up the lower portion of the spot. It may grow and shrink throughout the season. Dogs love it! Ground will likely be soggy but we will close if entrance becomes unsafe. SUMMER: During warm weather there is a 9’ stock tank pool (not filtered) for dogs. One adult may accompany each dog but please no children. >> Please note! Perimeter fence was replaced and spot now includes additional space! There are more trees and brush included for your dogs sniffing pleasure. Please use caution, there are some new trip hazards and holes. We have walked this multiple times but things may continue to work their way out of the exposed earth. We think dogs will enjoy even more but be aware, it’s a little more wild than before! << Private parking for one or two vehicles available. If additional needed, please message host. Clean porta potty available for guest use. This is also used by others, please keep dogs leashed in this area. This park is dedicated to Dexter, the King of Bork. CASHLESS sales at the store please. Malaney Creek Farm is a 124 acre conservation farm comprised of fields, forest and wetlands. 3+ miles of private trails, open grassy fields. Trails are marked to keep you pointed in the right direction. Picnic tables, covered areas to duck out of the weather and portable restroom with hand sanitizer. Your sniffspot staging area is located in what we call our "Cascara" campsite. Covered picnic table, adirondack chairs, firepit and a big green grassy field. This spot is a central location near the portable restroom, easy drive in access, and a base location for exploring the trail network. Our trail system has been a labor of love. We enjoy providing unique experiences and highlighting the natural beauty of the forest and wetlands on the property. Once home to giant cedar trees the property was purchased by the Great Northern Railway in the late 1800's. A railroad system was built here and the giant cedars logged and milled onsite. You wouldn't be able to tell that now as the forest is doing a wonderful job of repairing itself. We do have a few artifacts scattered about that have been found that you will see on your walks. A large concrete trestle base, railway beams, rail spikes and misc metal items from the trains and equipment. Most of our trails accommodate hiking and mountain bikes (yes E-bikes are allowed ;), however the hiking only trails are really evolving. Our new wetlands trail is a quick link between Casacara and the Beargrass island trail. It is foot traffic only and features hand hewn cedar bridges made from cedar logs left behind by the logging operation over 100 years ago! Log rounds to hop across wet areas and places to stop and soak in the quiet. There is a diverse landscape of rare native plants on this hike and foraging opportunities abound! Fiddle head ferns, chicken of the woods and more! Our most prized flora is a large patch of Labrador Tea. A very rare species of plant related to the rhododendron that native american peoples used as a medicinal healing tea. So come out and explore! Bring appropriate footwear, your furry hiking buddies, a bottled water, and a camera. We look forward to hosting you! Beautiful sloped pasture with some woods at the lower end. 1.5 acres. If desired, you can drive right into the pasture and secure the gate behind you before letting your dog(s) loose. It changes by the season. In summer, the grass grows tall and you can enjoy the shade of alders in the lower portion. A seasonal creek runs through it in winter and spring. Your dog may find the scent of deer where they've bedded down at night, though it's unlikely that any will be present for your visit. You will see that I've planted and protected some fruit trees and native plants here and there. A sheltered area allows you to sit in the shade or out of the rain, and that's where you'll also find most amenities, such as toys and water. Access: There are two driveways onto the property. Use the north entry, with the "Pepper's Pasture" sign. After driving up that driveway, you'll see a "Sniffspot" sign on the gate into the pasture. Construction/site work: in spring of '25, you'll see that we are building beside the driveway that leads to the sniffspot. If your experience is disturbed by activity at that site (it's infrequent but can be unpredictable and might be noisy), please contact me for a promo code for your next visit.

For humans, there is a cozy shelter with seating, a bistro table, and the entertainment of a frisbee "goal". There's shade from a large fir, in the meadow, as well as shade from the woods, on the south side. Fencing is at least 4 feet high, all around. It has a vision-block screen, a 4.8’ top wire, plus double fencing, on the side with neighbor dogs. If the neighbor's Goldens are out, they will friendly bark, and bark. They really want to come over and play. Surrounding Area: There are two private yards (one with an enclosed, screened chicken run, and one with friendly dogs); deep woods on the South side; and an incredible mountain view, over more meadow, on the West side. Sunsets from here are awe-inspiring! Parking: There is room for two vehicles to park near the gate the Meadow. Please park only on gravel and do not drive on the lawn near the meadow. If there are more than two vehicles in your party, please park up the hill in the gravel near the large, 4-car garage. LIMIT of 4 VEHICLES per reservation, unless organized in advance with us. There are four easy-closing gates in the fence, that are generally left open for wildlife passage. We will make every effort to have the gates closed before you arrive, but know that you're responsible for seeing that all 4 gates are closed before you unleash your pups. If you bring kids, you're also responsible for keeping them in the gates :D We hope you visit soon and come back often!

We and our dogs love this spot! There is a picnic table to set our things on and to sit at if we wish, and benches in shady spots around the grounds. There are two large bowls of fresh water, one by the fence and one under the picnic table for the dogs, as well as an animal trough for the dogs to cool off in and a larger pool if they're brave enough to get into it. There's plenty of room for them to run comma and on the other side of the fence, they get to see goats, horses, donkeys, and other animals which they really enjoy. It's Worth the half hour drive to get there.

We had a great time at Dexter's Bark Park. The straw barn with all the smells turned out to be the highlight. A great spot to sniff and relax after zoomies. The soaking bin was perfect. Careful with the big pool. Our girl jumped in without hesitation but couldn't figure out how to get out even with the step provided. Overall great spot. We will be back!

Dexter's is fabulous. A beautiful rural setting. Lots of wide open FENCED space for pups to run, sprint & frolic! Stimulating! Enriching! Social, attimes talkative, farm critters in adjoining FENCED pastures( goats/sheep/horses & piggy). Our dogs had a blast! So tired they took time to sit out in the field and enjoy the scenery. We always enjoy going to Dexter's. It is well fenced and has fresh water for the dogs, a garbage can for waste, lots of area to run, and toys to play with. My three are also fascinated by the farm animals in surrounding fields. We go whenever we can!

We had a great time visiting Dexter's Bark Park! The space was safe and secure, plenty of toys, a seasonal pond, and trees to give the humans a place to get out of the rain. It was easy to access, big enough for the dogs to run full speed, small enough that they were always in our sight. Melissa was very responsive. We'll be back for sure! My dogs LOVED this sniff spot. This was the first time they were able to be off-leash. The area was completely enclosed and we didn't mind letting our dogs roam wherever they pleased. Daisy particularly loved all of the farm sensory items like the sheep's wool and peacock feathers. We will definitely be coming back!

My dogs LOVE coming here! So much room to run and the pigs were frolicking along with my dogs! They loved playing in the giant puddle/winter pond including my dog who hates water. They pretty much slept the rest of the day after we got home. A win for me!

It was wonderful to take our dogs to a fully fenced area that had so many toys and interesting things for our dogs to sniff and see. Our dogs are currently already snoozing in the back of the car as they are plumb wore out. We will for sure be back!

The dogs and their people had a great time at this spot. GPS took me to the entrance, and the blue address marker on the road is so helpful for turning off the highway. Parking and signage to enter the spot were clear. We saw two pigs in an adjacent pasture,and sheep and goats in another pasture. The spot is a securely fenced pasture with a nice big puddle for playing in. The pastoral setting and fun playtime for the dogs made this a relaxing place to be. There is a stock tank swimming pool but it was empty this time of year. My dog made do with the smaller water trough and took a dip on the way out. A great spot.

So many sniffs! My doggies loved running and sniffing and were particularly interested in the big pig. The goats and sheep were released in a nearby field, which piqued my dogs’ interest; Melissa sent a message and said if it was a problem she could put the herd back. Are dog fields safe?

If you are looking for an adventure, but also looking for safety, Sniffspot dog fields are a great option. While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, distracted dog owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than public dog parks. You can review the details of the listing to make sure it works as your desired activity space, for example, safe dog exercise, dog training, a stress-free adventure with your furry friend or even a puppy event. You can even check the park amenities chart for amenities such as indoor training facilities, agility field, synthetic turf, exercise balls or field parking availability in advance. If inclement weather is an issue or poor field conditions, you can reschedule your visit up to 2 hours in advance.

What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot dog field?

We require that all four-legged friends have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not allow dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules. Make sure to check host rules before visiting to ensure, for instance, that you are following allowable sports activities rules and any special events rules.

Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot field at the same time as me?

No. Facility rentals are for private play time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the area during visits, so this is perfect for a private adventure for you and your doggie friends, and perhaps a human friend. Hosts understand that many guests have dogs in training and are nervous owners. So when you book a Sniffspot dog field you have the entire private spot to yourself. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between time slots so you will not run into other guest dogs or a previous person when coming or leaving in the field parking area. Some hosts may have multiple fields, but there is always a buffer between fields.
