One of a kind are absolutely amazing, we adopted Layla from them two years ago. She was rescued from an unfortunate situation with over 100 hoarded animals. They truly are heros and helped all these amazing animals find better lives and loving homes. These actions may be little too some but are everything to these animals, giving them hope to have a good full life!

One of A Kind Pet Rescue is a non-profit organization founded in November 2005 and is funded by private donations. The organization is dedicated to saving animal lives, rescuing pets in imminent danger of euthanasia, spaying/neutering and adoption of homeless animals into appropriate, loving homes. We are a no-time-limit shelter, and no adoptable animal is euthanized. Many of our animals come from Animal Control Facilities (the pound) just prior to their scheduled euthanasia. Sick or injured animals brought to us by Good Samaritans are often given priority. Owner surrenders and strays are accepted when space is available.

I have adopted 2 dogs through Freedom Ride Rescue. Cam, who is now 3, we adopted in 2021. He was about 4 months old and had been picked up as a stray. Freedom Ride Rescue placed him into their foster care. When I met him it was love at first site. He is probably a lab, pit, hound mix and we couldn't love him more. Caroline, who is probably 7-8 years old - we adopted her last April from Freedom Ride Rescue. She is a great pyr who was confiscated from a horrible backyard breeder hoarder situation. Because of that, she had to spend 6 months in one of the shelters here in NC as "evidence." Once freed, she was placed into foster care. When we first met Caroline, we loved her. We just had to make sure she melded in with our other 2 dogs (Cam and Coal, our black lab) and our cats. She is the best dog and we love her to the moon. It is wonderful knowing that her life is the very best it has ever been. I also volunteer with Freedom Ride Rescue. So I know firsthand, that this rescue is all about its' army of volunteers and fosters. What started out as a boutique rescue 4 years ago has grown into one that has now saved over 3000 dogs! It is such an honor to volunteer with Freedom Ride Rescue and live my passion of loving dogs and saving them

    Akron

Rose's Rescue is 501(c)(3) non-profit all-breed rescue run by a small group of volunteers and no paid employees. We do not have a central shelter location that is open to the public as all of our rescued friends are in foster homes. Who we are and how it all began: It all started when founder Rose Sachs answered an ad in the local classifieds that said they could help a person find homes for unwanted pets. Rose had recently moved to a rural setting with some acreage, and had subsequently acquired 4 or 5 dogs that had been dropped off or that she'd found abandoned and was trying to find new homes for them. It was 2002, and she ended up partnering with the person who placed the ad, calling themselves "New Leash on Life." After about a year, they went their separate ways, but Rose continued her work re-homing pets in need. She found a few other like-minded people to help her - just one or two at the start, and Rose's Rescue was born. It took several years to grow into something more than just basically a few foster homes, but by 2004 had become a relatively cohesive group with a more defined process and mission. On October 10th of 2006, Rose's Rescue was officially granted it's 501c3 status. Since, then, we have continued to grow with more volunteers, a more structured operation, and more animals under our care, We utilize modern technology with the implementation of a large database system (through rescuegroups.org), our own website, active Facebook page and busy event calendar. We strive to not only help the animals we have rescued, but also work to support our local pounds where there is a need we can address, (provide vet transport, help to defray vet costs, etc), and work with other rescues and shelters in our area for the benefit of animals in our greater community.

Having grown up in busy Santa Barbara, Jen, an introvert from an early age, would seek out solitude and serenity away from tourists attractions and droves of people visiting from elsewhere. “My grandparents own 60 acres about a 30 minute drive from here, and I grew up spending every summer and every holiday visiting them on the ranch,” Jen explained. “In Santa Barbara, we wouldn't go to the beach on the weekend because that's where everybody was, so you'd find places off the beaten path where the tourists weren't. For me, the ranch was just my happy place.”
