A Winning Team Our amazing team of fosters and volunteers are committed to rescuing lost pets, abandoned, injured, and homeless animals. We take our convictions and turn them into action. Think you would be a good fit? We would love to have you on our team! We have all types of jobs to fit your talents! Dedicated volunteers are essential to the successful operation of FUR~Friends United in Rescue. Please join our team and start SAVING LIVES TODAY Our biggest need is for FOSTERS. We can only save as many animals as we have somewhere for them to go. Fosters are so vital to saving these animals that your application is at the very top of our webpage. Volunteers of all types are needed. Fosters, Rescuers, dog walkers, crate and litter box cleaners, transporters, online networkers, the list goes on. (The link below is for all volunteers except fosters.) Thank you for your interest in helping to rescue displaced pets and Homeless/injured dogs and cats. Our History The spark was lit when our community was devastated by a massive tornado in Rowlett, TX on 12/26/15. Our founder, who was majorly impacted, began rescuing displaced pets to reunite them with their loving families. We continued on to rescue animals during major hurricanes, several wildfires, and rescuing homeless and injured animals locally. Friends of Camp Fire Cats was formed in 2018, as the California Wildfire, known as Camp Fire. was still raging in the Butte County areas of Paradise and Magalia. Many of the shelter resources were full within days of the fire beginning which left us wondering, “How will we keep rescuing these animals?” We began a fundraiser and with the help of a local resident and many wonderful donors, base camp was formed in Paradise and we were able to keep rescuing. We worked on this mission for 10 months. Once we decided to become a non-profit nationwide Animal Rescue Organization, we changed our name to FUR~Friends United in Rescue knowing we wanted to keep helping out the community for the long haul. We feel every dog and cat should have someone who loves them and we want to end homelessness.

Mission and Vision

We are a community based/foster based Animal Rescue. We focus on rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing animals who have been living on the streets. We foster the animals while we get them checked out at the vet, sterilized, and begin their training to become a well behaved companion animal. We work with them as much as we can before finding them the very bet FUR~Ever families. Our primary focus is rescuing pets and reuniting them with their families. We understand the heartache of having a missing pet. If we want to end the suffering of homeless animals, we need to get the lost ones home and help the ones who have been left behind. We are based out of Rowlett, TX and travel to areas who need us and also rescue animals in our local community, we leave no defenseless animal behind.

Adoption Policy

Adoption requirements Must be 21 or older to adopt, or have a guardian present. Proof is required. Current pets must be up to date on shots and must be spayed or neutered. Vet proof is required. A fully secured fenced yard is a requirement. (Apartments okay on certain dogs). We require a video submission of your home and your yard. Adoption fees Puppies 12 months and younger are $400 Dogs over 12 months are $375 Adoption fee cover Initial Exam Age Appropriate Shots – FUR allows for up to 3 sets of vaccines for puppies under our care as they become age appropriate. We provide annual shots for all other dogs over the appropriate age limit. Rabies shots are included and will be given as age appropriate for puppies and with annual vaccines for adults, while they are in our care. Vet Care is extremely expensive and many times, the adoption fee doesn't cover their total bill and we depend on donations to supplement. All dogs/cats are micro-chipped and registered to FUR Dogs that have not had their spay/neuter completed, at the time of adoption, will be initiated as a "Pre-Adoption." with an Addendum. The Adoption will not be finalized until their surgery has been completed. (More info will be provided) Additionally there may be some procedures performed outside of those outlined which are deemed necessary for the health of the dog at that time. If there is an existing condition for the animal that Friends United in Rescue (FUR) is aware of, you will be informed. Please remember that these are rescue dogs/cats and we do not know their full history. It is possible that your dog/cat may have a health related problem that has not been diagnosed. Please fill out the application Processing applications takes time! We do vet checks and home checks, whether that be in person or virtually We try to respond to all applications within 24 hours of being submitted. We suggest if you do not hear a response within this time frame to email us! We have the right to deny any application, but with children this young, we will tend to be more picky. It will definitely depend on the dog and if we feel it will be fit with the family. Dogs/cats have been adopted out of state. The adopter must come to Rowlett, TX to pick up their new pet or locate a private pet transportation to make arrangements for their pet to be brought to them. Adopters are responsible for any Transportation fees.

Whenever he is not working on Sniffspot, he can often be found hiking or visiting multi-acre fenced sniffspots with his two beloved dogs, Soba and Toshii. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys the fresh air, breathtaking scenery, and the sense of freedom that comes with being in nature. David is based in Salem, MA.
